Roy Graeber
A funeral service for Roy Gerald Graeber, 85, will be held today, Nov. 17, 1999, at 1 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church of the Sierra, 930 Julie Lane, South Lake Tahoe.
Mr. Graeber, a resident of South Lake Tahoe from 1961 to 1993, died Nov. 10.
He was a native of Iowa and moved to California in 1940.
He was retired from the city of South Lake Tahoe, where he was a mechanic. For the last five years, he was a resident of Mesa, Ariz.
Mr. Graeber's hobbies were prospecting and collecting John Deere memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lenora Graeber, in 1992 and his brother Lester Graeber in 1997.
Among his survivors are his second wife Lucille Graeber of Mesa, Ariz.; son Gary Graeber and daughter-in-law Linda Graeber of Carson City; grandchildren Robin Sanders of Carson City, Jessica Royce of Olympia, Wash., and Jason Graeber of Fallon; 10 great- grandchildren; and step-children Colleen Sykes, Ernest Christiansen, Joann Lytle and Leon Christiansen and numerous step-grandchildren, all of Wisconsin.

Rith Jerdon, longtime resident, dies at 72
Ruth Helen Muller Palmatier Fingar Jerdon, long-time Valley resident and frequent letter-writer to The Record-Courier, died at her home in Fish Springs April 6, 1999.
She was one of the last employees of the V&T Railroad before its demise in 1950. She came to Nevada with her first husband, Ed Palmatier, in the late 1940s.
She and her second husband Jim Fingar moved to Carson Valley in 1951, and in 1962, they and their family homesteaded 160 acres in the Fish Springs area.
In 1969, she and Mr. Fingar took over the South Shell in Gardnerville, and it remained a family business until 1984.
She then became the "mail lady" between Minden and Bridgeport and worked her route for 17 years, delivering mail and anything else people needed along the way.
She also worked part-time at the Riverview Seven-11, where she loved to chat with patrons, and Farmers National Bank.
In 1981, she married George "Joe" Jerdon.
She was born to George Fritz Muller and Agnes Bergendahl Muller in Pine Plains, N.Y., Nov. 8, 1926, and was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Ed Palmatier and Jim Fingar.
Survivors include her husband Joe of Fish Springs; sons Philip Fingar of Gardnerville and George "Butch" Palmatier of Palm Desert, Calif.; daughter Helen "Cookie" Roulias of Reno; brother George Muller of Evanston, N.Y. and sister Doris Hoysradt of Pine Plains; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Carson Valley Christian Center, 2221 Meridian Blvd., Gardnerville, with Pastor Emil Leising officiating, Thursday at 11 a.m.
Burial will be held following services at the Garden Cemetery in Gardnerville.

Edward Blake
A Funeral Mass will be held for Edward J. Blake, 77, on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City.
Mr. Blake died on Oct. 21 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City.
He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on July 15, 1923, to George and Bessie Schenk Blake.
Mr. Blake was a self-employed financial consultant.
He is survived by his wife Dolores Blake of Carson City; sons Edward J. Blake Jr. of Milpitas, Calif., Steven Blake of Davis, Calif., and Donald Blake of Plano, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Kenneth Meadows
Kenneth Meadows, 71, a Gardnerville resident for 12 years, died on Oct. 21, 2000 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City.
A funeral service was held yesterday, Oct. 24, at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home and burial followed at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
Mr. Meadows was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., on June 22, 1929, to Ralph and Cleo Munshower Meadows.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and worked as an engineer for Lockheed in San Jose, Calif., before moving to the Carson Valley.
He loved traveling and fishing.
Predeceasing Mr. Meadows was his father.
Surviving are his wife Beverly Meadows of Gardnerville; mother Cleo Meadows of Campbell, Calif.; sons Larry Meadows of Idaville, Ind., and Steven Meadows of Sunnyvale, Calif., and daughter Debra Genzel of Roseville, Calif.; brother Donald Meadows of Campbell and sisters Dorothy Schisler of Middletown, Calif., Beverly Speziale of San Jose, and Joan Isbell of Gilroy, Calif; and three grandchildren.

Shirley Brazzanovich
Shirley Evelyn Brazzanovich, 68, died May 30, 2001 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno.
Visitation will be tomorrow, June 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City, and a funeral service will be held there on Monday, June 4, at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
Mrs. Brazzanovich was born June 1, 1932, in Mayetta, Kan., to Theodore and Mary Navarre Dean.
She had lived in the Carson/Reno area since 1940 and graduated from Carson High School in 1950.
She worked as a realty specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Mrs. Brazzanovich enjoyed traveling and gardening. She loved all sports and especially liked watching her grandsons playing baseball. She also loved her three dogs.
The Brazzanovich's would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary today.
Predeceasing Mrs. Brazzanovich were her sisters Delores Grenier and Mildred Ferrell.
Surviving are her husband Lewis Brazzanovich of Carson City; sons Edward of Jacks Valley, Gene of Sun Valley, Leonard and Dennis, both of Reno, and Doug of Hungry Valley; daughters Shirley Martinez of Seattle, Wash., Nora Perks of Washoe Valley and Sheri Brazzanovich of Wadsworth, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Joseph Manoukian
A memorial for Joseph Edwin Manoukian, 27, will be held Sunday, June 3, 2001, at 1 p.m. at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville. A reception will follow at Bently Science Park on Buckeye Road in Minden.
Mr. Manoukian died May 28 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno.
He was born May 17, 1974, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., to Noel and Louise Mandresakis Manoukian.
He was raised in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School in 1993. He participated in numerous sports, including football, soccer, baseball and skiing.
He also attended Monterey Junior College in Monterey, Calif.
Mr. Manoukian worked as a builder and was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church and the Carson Valley Nut Club.
Surviving are his son Treyton "Bear" Edwin Manoukian; former wife Heather of Carson City; parents Noel and Louise Manoukian of Gardnerville; sister Jacquie Manoukian Mott; brother-in-law Shawn Mott of Minden; grandmother Henrietta C. Peterson of Oroville, Calif., and grandfather John Pete Andrews of Carson City; Elinore Dubois of Gardnerville; and nieces Hannah Rose and Samantha Ann.
Private burial will be at Mottsville Cemetery.

Edward Wasko
Edward Joseph Wasko, 91, died May 28, 2001 at his Gardnerville home.
He was born in New York, New York, Sept. 14, 1909, to Joseph and Catharine Dringus Wasko.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Wasko spent much of his life in Neshanic, N.J., where he worked as a mechanic.
He was involved in community service through the Rescue Squad and enjoyed gardening and canning his own produce. He also enjoyed building radio and TV equipment. He was well-known for his sense of humor and Hungarian cooking.
Mr. Wasko was a Gardnerville resident for five years, coming form Soquel, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Reid Wasko, who died in 1975.
Surviving are his daughters Carol R. Belew of Gardnerville and Ethel M. Leslie of Monument, Colo.; and grandchildren Kerry, John, Galen, Reid and Rhett.
A memorial service will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
