Edna K. Rasley
Edna K. Rasley, 84, peacefully passed at home on Dec. 8, 2004 from natural causes.
Born April 1, 1920 to the Nevada pioneer family of Jesse and Ellen Montrose, in Oreana (Lovelock), she was reared, and went to school, in Lovelock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack and James (Chip), son Hallie, grandson Kerry and nephew James Montrose.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth (Raz) Rasley; brother, Alfred Montrose of Fallon; daughters, Bonny Boehler and Mary Van Blarcom; grandchildren, Tim Cress and Lee Giusti of Elko, Alyce, Lisa, Lori, Doris and Marla of Oregon; Danny and John of Alaska; nephew, Jack Montrose and niece Karen Holcher of Fallon; and Cathy Brown of Dayton; nephews, Mike Montrose of Arizona and Hugh Montrose of Lovelock. Edna had ll great-grandchildren.
"Ed" was an avid bass fisherman, golfer and trophy trap shooter. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, dancing and socializing. Until retiring, Raz (Kenneth) and Edna spent most of their married life traveling throughout the state on highway construction jobs. Edna always said she had "numerous orders to give before going," however, she ran out of time. To do so, she would have needed another year at least!
At Edna's request, there will be no services.
In her memory, the family suggests donations to a favorite charity.
Melody Ruble
Melody Stratton Ruble, 39, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2004, at her home in West Valley City, Utah, from a brain aneurism. She was born Oct. 13, 1965, in St. George, Utah, to Lloyd Wiltbank and Mary Truman Stratton. On October 31, 1992, she married James Harold Ruble in Logandale, Nev. They were later sealed in the St. George LDS Temple.
Melody grew up in Henderson. At a young age, she began working for the Nevada State Parks, first in the Valley of Fire near Overton, and later in the Elko/Spring Creek area. She moved with her husband to West Valley City, Utah, a year and a half ago. She enjoyed sewing machines, collecting antiques, shooting and handling guns and reading, especially Louis L'Amour.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, of West Valley City; one son and one daughter; Mary Isabelle and Ethan James, all of Overton; parents, Lloyd and Mary Stratton of Logandale; two brothers and one sister, Bruce (Debbie); Marcine (Keith) Neilson; Shane (Cheryl) all of Logandale. She was preceded in death by one sister, Malinda.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at noon, at the Enterprise LDS Chapel. A visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Enterprise City Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
Diana Puccinelli Lipparelli
Lifelong Elko County resident Diana Puccinelli Lipparelli died on Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at the Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital. She was 83 years old.
She was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Elko to Gustavo and Amanda Puccinelli. She attended local schools. She became partially disabled at the age of 15 when struck by a car while crossing Idaho Street. However, she was able to do many things for herself.
She was married to Leland Lipparelli and raised two children. She taught piano lessons and helped with her husbands garage business doing his bookkeeping.
After the death of her mother, she was confined to a nursing home in Henderson and later moved to Elko where she resided at the time of her death.
Diana was a very devout Catholic, praying the Rosary two or three times a day. She always prayed for her family and friends.
Survivors include her special guardian, Giuliana Murphy; son, Leland Lipparelli, of Henderson; daughter, Sandra Murphy, of Elko; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; her parents; and her brother, Alex Puccinelli.
The Rosary will be recited at Burns Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 990 Highland Drive, at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17. Entombment will follow in the Burns Memorial Garden of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, 1035 "C" St., or the Tree of Life, c/o Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, 2001 Errecart Blvd., Elko, NV.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Lipparelli, Barry Lipparelli, Lorry Lipparelli, Gene D'Asto, Norman Malhberg, and Angelo Puccinelli.
Caesar John Lipparelli
March 20, 1918 - Dec. 13, 2004
Caesar Lipparelli, a lifelong resident of Elko, passed away at home Sunday of natural causes. He was the second son of Sostenio and Argentina Lipparelli. His parents immigrated from Italy around 1910.
During World War II, he was involved in the assault and capture of Iwo Jima and numerous other islands while serving with the Fourth Marine Division, Pacific Theater of Operations.
During the early '50s, he was the owner of the Spur Drive-In in Elko. In the '60s, he was Elko County's chief juvenile probation officer, and during the '70s, he was the national purchasing director for Arctic Circle, Inc.
In retirement, his favorite pastimes were watching "The Price is Right" and enjoying coffee and conversation with his nephews and friends at the Coffee Mug.
He is survived by Welcome, his wife of 54 years; his children: Sherry Sutton, Mukeltio, Wash.; Kenneth (Cynthia) Lipparelli, Issaquah, Wash.; Lonna Lipparelli, Elko; Larry (Danel) Lipparelli, Sparks; Mike (Julie) Lipparelli, Yorktown, Va; Nikki (Brett) Henderson, Boise, Idaho; Tamea (Nick) Knight, Elko; 20 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Paulina Madigan of Sparks.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Adolph and Lao Lipparelli, and two sisters, Dora Wood and Delia Smith.
A funeral liturgy and a celebration of his life will be held Friday at 2 p.m., St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 990 Highland Drive, Elko.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Horizon Hospice of Elko.
