Lawrence Leavitt
Services for Lawrence J. Leavitt, 78, who passed away July 5, 2006 after a long illness, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, with a visitation at 9 a.m., at the L.D.S. chapel on the corner of Pennwood and Arville streets.
He was born May 26, 1928 in Las Vegas and was a life-long resident until moving to Pahrump in 2005.
He served a two-year L.D.S. church mission in Brazil and attended Brigham Young University, where he met and married
Carol E. Barlow and graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany, where his first daughter was born.
He was later employed for 36 years by the Clark County School District, starting his career as a business math teacher for Western High School. He then completed a master's degree program at Northern Arizona University and worked as a counselor at Cashman Junior High for more than 30 years before retiring in 1992.
His daughters Denise (Barry) Langendorf of Pahrump and Suzanne (Larry) Paulson of Brooten, Minn.; son Bruce (Keala) Leavitt of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren survive him.
His wife of 49 years Carol, eldest daughter Linda, son, and his infant son Brent preceded him in death.

Timothy Wolfe
Services for Timothy J. Wolfe, 46, who passed away July 5, 2006 in Pahrump, will be held from 1-6 p.m. Sunday in the Neptune Society of Nye County chapel, 720 S. Buol Lane.
He was born Feb. 14, 1960 in New York. He was a Pahrump resident since 2000, coming from New York.
He worked as a mechanic and was of the Lutheran faith.
His wife of 14 years and nine months Donna; children Janessa, Hunter and Timothy; grandchild Orin; mother Idella; four brothers; two sisters; Mary and Salvatore Curttalo and Steven and Salvatore Jr., survive him. (07/05/06)
Harold Propster
Harold "Hap" Propster, 83, passed away June 28, 2006 at his home in Pahrump.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and lived in Long Beach, Calif., and Oceanside, Calif., prior to moving to Pahrump in 1991.
He was a World War II veteran, which included the Battle of The Bulge. He was a VFW lifetime member of post No. 10054 in Pahrump.
His daughters Candice Rush of Pahrump and Judith McGovern of Prescott, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren survive him.

Amber Venable
Services are pending for Amber Michelle Venable, 24, who passed away July 4, 2006 in Pahrump.
She was born Feb. 11, 1982 in Shreveport, La. She was a three-year resident of Amargosa Valley, coming from Little Rock, Ark.
She worked as a bartender and was employed by Longstreet Casino. She was also a member of the Thespians Actor Guild and the Broadmoor Baptist Church.
Her mother Amanda Venable of Amargosa Valley; aunt Joan Woolard of Amargosa Valley; uncle Larry Waldron of Missouri; grandmother Hazel Venable of Louisiana; father Eddy Venable of Louisiana; aunt Bonnie Coker of Texas; and numerous cousins survive her.
Her grandparents Polly and Lloyd Waldron preceded her in death.

Helena Christiansen
Private family services were held for Helena Christiansen, 84, who passed away June 30, 2006 in Pahrump.
She was born Sept. 10, 1921 in Montana. She was a five-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Post Falls, Idaho, Bullhead City, Ariz., and San Bernardino, Calif.
She worked as a grocery checker. She also loved bowling, dancing and the desert.
Her sons Lee Christiansen of Pahrump and Lonnie Christiansen of Post Falls; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces survive her.
Her brothers Jack and Roy and sisters Ida and Pearl preceded her in death.

James McGourty
James F. McGourty, 77, passed away July 10, 2006 at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.
He was born March 24, 1929 in Chicago, Ill. He was a resident of Pahrump.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later worked as an Internal Revenue agent.
His wife Marilyn McGourty of Pahrump; daughters Linda Flormonte of San Clemente, Calif., and Susanne Fleming of Riverside, Calif.; sons Steven McGourty of Anaheim, Calif., Patrick McGourty of Pahrump and Michael McGourty of Anaheim; brother Charles McGourty of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and six grandchildren survive him.

Blaine Dickson
Services for Blaine C. Dickson, 72, who passed away Aug. 8, 2006, in Los Angeles, Calif., will be held at noon today at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.
He was born June 8, 1934, in Ogden, Utah. He was a nine-year resident of Pahrump, coming from California.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He also had a life membership in the VFW.
His wife Catherine Dickson of Pahrump; daughter Donna Dickson of Utah; sons Blaine Dickson Jr., and James Dickson, both of Las Vegas; sister Joan Young of California; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild survive him.

Gladys Gulberg
Gladys Gulberg, 77, passed away peacefully July 25, 2006, in Bremerton, Wash.
She was born May 1, 1929, to George and Nellie Hensler in Seattle, Wash. Gladys and her husband Don, now deceased, had lived in Pahrump for about nine years and were known for their "windmill garden" on Irene Street.
She had worked for Sears Roebuck and H&R Block. She also enjoyed flowers, raising Yorkshire terriers and attending international windmill fairs over the years.
Her sons Gary (Peggy) Anderson of Tacoma, Wash., Brian Gulberg of Belfair, Wash., and Bruce (Vicky Potter) Gulberg of Bremerton, Wash.; daughter Kathy (Matthew) Sinn of Silverdale, Wash.; brother Glenn (Mary) Hensler; and two grandchildren survive her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Kenneth Anderson in 1958 and her second husband Donald Gulberg in 2005. (07/25/06)
Henry Durtka
A memorial service for Henry Durtka, 87, who passed away July 11, 2006, at his daughter-in-law's home in Mikado, Mich., was held Aug. 4, 2006, at the Mio Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Michigan.
He was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., to Andrew and Katherine Durtka.
He started out working as a young man as a shoeshine boy. He later joined the CCC, and upon, retiring, married
and began working with the WPA and doing some farming. After a few years, he returned to Chicago to work in the printing and chemical industry.
He then moved to Michigan to work in the automobile industry as a maintenance man until his retirement from the Ford Motor Company in 1981, where he worked as a journeyman and tinsmith. He moved to Oscoda County and settled in Mio.
He never knew a stranger. He was a Jehovah's Witness for 20 years and was a man who was loved by all who knew him.
His hobbies were fishing, traveling, hunting and gardening.
His wife Edie; son Raymond (Mary); daughters Christa, Barbara (John) Thomas and Patricia (Clyde) Wampler; stepchildren from Edie: Patricia (Donald) Mandeville, Betty Elder, Linda (Michael) Griffor, Charles Brooks, Robert (Debra) Brooks, Edith Brooks, Sally (Doug) LaBeau, Tammy (Daniel) Baldwin and Timothy (Ronda) Brooks; four sisters; brother; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews survive him.
His parents; first wife Dorothy (Miller) Durtka, the mother of his children; brother Alexander; sisters Genofeva and Genevieve; and son Gerald preceded him in death.

John Robichaud
John C. Robichaud, 82, of Pahrump, died Dec. 2, 2006.
He was born in Superior, Wis. He was a resident of California and Nevada for the past 43 years.
He worked as an inspector for the Wisconsin grain commission and as warehouseman for the original MGM Hotel.
His daughters Jane Economos of Duluth, Minn., Kathleen Robichaud, Giselle Dionne, and Roxanne Corrow of Las Vegas; son Kenneth Robichaud of Irvine, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren survive him.
His wife Doris preceded him in death.
