Donald "Joppy" Joplin

Services for Donald Alvin "Joppy" Joplin, 65, who died Nov. 13, 2006, in Las Vegas, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Chief Tecopa cemetery.

He was born July 4, 1941 in Lincoln, Neb. He was an eight-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas, where he resided for 26 years.

He worked for 30 years at the Nevada Test Site. He was a member of the Masons and Shriners and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 12 since he was 21.

His son Clifford Donald Joplin of Las Vegas; daughter Stephanie Joplin of Chicago, Ill.; and longtime companion Mari Sowles of Pahrump survive him.

His parents Lynetta and Clifford Joplin and sister Dorothy preceded him in death.

Johann Arachikavitz

Johann Mae Arachikavitz, 67, died Nov. 16, 2006, in Las Vegas.

She was born March 30, 1939. She was a 15-year resident of Pahrump.

She worked as a cosmetologist and was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

Her husband Stanley Arachikavitz of Pahrump and sons Stanley Edward Arachikavitz of Owensboro, Ky., and Joel G. Arachikavitz of Freeport, Ill., survive her.

Her son Anthony Arachikavitz preceded her in death.

Beryl M. Duke

Services were held for Beryl M. Duke, 84, who died Oct. 11, 2006, in Pahrump, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

He was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Iowa. He was a six-and-a-half year resident of Pahrump.

He served in the U.S. Army.

His sons Terry Duke and Allon Duke, both of Pahrump, and Robin Duke and Bruce Duke, both of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild survive him.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (10/11/06)

Ronald Lass

Services for Ronald Lloyd Lass, 55, who died Oct. 14, 2006, at Cheyenne Nursing home in North Las Vegas, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 650 S. Blagg Road.

He was born Dec. 10, 1950, in Boone, Iowa.

His son, Brent Lass of Preston, Idaho; daughter Rhonda Lass of Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren Jessie and Josh Lass; parents Lloyd and Joyce Lass; brothers Dennis and David Lass; sister Linda Henry of Pahrump; and nephews Justin and Dillon survive him.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Neptune Society of Nye County, 720 S. Buol Lane. Interment will be at Grandview cemetery, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road. (10/14/06)

Julia Wall

Private family services were held for Julia Wall, 79, who died Oct. 10, 2006, in Las Vegas.

She was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Oklahoma. She was a 19-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Orange, Calif.

She was an aircraft worker who loved playing bingo and pinnacle.

Her sons Philip Burnard of Perrin, Texas and John Summers of Pahrump; and many nieces and nephews survive her.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (10/10/06)

Christy Ward

Services for Christy Elizabeth Ward, 19, who passed away Jan. 6 in Pahrump, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Church on Big Five Road, with a visitation from 6-8 p.m. today at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

She was born Nov. 6, 1986 in Las Vegas. She was a lifelong resident of Pahrump.

She was employed as a childcare worker with Little Rascals and was also attending college. She was studying to be a teacher.

Her parents Jared and Tammy Ward, both of Pahrump; sister Jamie (Ruben) Ruiz of Pahrump; brother Tony (Gina) Ward of Nevada; grandfather Roger Ward of Las Vegas; grandmother Mary Ward of Pahrump; lifetime friend Sarah DeLilla of Pahrump; and fianc� Wes Wilson of Pahrump, the love of her life, survive her. William Collier

Private services were held Saturday for William Edward Collier, 75, who passed away Jan. 6 in Pahrump, at Chief Tecopa cemetery.

He was born Feb. 8, 1930 in Indianapolis, Ind. He was a 13-year resident of Pahrump.

He served in the U.S. Army. He later worked as a machine operator and retired from the Seven-Up Bottling Company in Vernon, Calif.

His wife Sylvia of Pahrump; sons Dale (Diana) of Greenville, S.C., and Robert (Colleen) of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.; brother George Collier of Florida; and four grandchildren survive him.

His son Mark Collier; and sisters Mary Patton and Carroll Carlson preceded him in death.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (01/06/06)

Evelyn Krei

No services were held for Evelyn June Krei, 88, who passed away Dec. 31 in Pahrump.

She was born Dec. 17, 1917 in Portage, Pa. She was a resident of Arcata, Calif., for 59 years before moving to Crescent City, Calif., and then to Pahrump in 2005.

She retired from the Humboldt County Welfare Department in 1977 after 28 years of service.

Her son Donald A. (Patricia) Davis of Pahrump; granddaughters Kathleen Haller of Pensacola, Fla., and Whitney Yelle of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; great grandchildren Christopher and Carly Haller of Pensacola and Brenden and Nicholas Yelle of Bainbridge Island; and sisters Ethel Toth of Tennessee and Delores Delaney of Ohio survive her.

Her parents Wayne and Agnes Billings; husbands Edward Dale Davis and Marvin Krei; brothers Wayne, Kenneth and Robert Billings and James Duke; and sister Alleen Billings preceded her in death.

Interment will be in the family plot in Portage.

Deborah Langston

A memorial service for Deborah Ordine Langston, 41, who passed away Jan. 15, will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Wilson Road.

She was born March 25, 1964 in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of Fred and Maryanna Ordine.

She married Rodney Leon Langston of American Fork, Utah and had two children: Brian Douglas (Clevelle) and Tiffany Mary. Her parents; brother Stephen (Loretta); and 2-year-old granddaughter Myah Miracle also survive her.

Her sister Linda Jensen preceded her in death a year ago.

She leaves a very close family with many relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be held at the Neptune Society of Nye County chapel from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. (01/15/06)

Sparkey Perez

Private family services will be held for Sparkey P. Perez, 7, who passed away Jan. 12 in Pahrump.

She was born Aug. 22, 1998 in Las Vegas. She was a life-long resident of Pahrump.

Her parents Adonna and Manuel Perez; and many family members, brothers, sisters and friends survive her. (01/12/06)

James Dailey

A viewing for James "Jim" Everett Dailey, 76, who passed away Jan. 12 following a brief illness, will be held at noon Saturday, with services at 1 p.m., at Bunker Brothers Mortuary on 925 N. Las Vegas Blvd.

He was born Dec. 28, 1929 in Beggs, Okla., to Thomas Alvin Dailey and Myrtle May Adams.

He moved to Las Vegas from Bakersfield, Calif., in 1962 to work at the Nevada Test Site. He was a retired operating engineer who owned and operated a business in Henderson with his wife.

His wife Jean of Henderson and her five children, Warren LaQue, Robert Ouellette, Tim Ouellette, Denise Lucero and Laura Melhorn; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; daughter Michellene (Dick) Turner of Las Vegas; granddaughters Tara Clark and Marah Nix; three great grandchildren; sister Lola Morrison of Bakersfield; and many nieces and nephews survive him. Patricia Thomson

Private services were held for Patricia "Pat" Thomson, 82, who passed away Feb. 11 in Pahrump.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923 in North Dakota.

Her stepdaughter Diana (Bill) Tyner of Pahrump; stepson David Thomson of Apple Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren survive her.

Her husband William "Bill" L. Thomson preceded her in death.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
