Patricia Hansen

Services for Patricia Adair Hansen, 81, who passed away May 9 in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

She was born May 19, 1923 in Duluth, Minn., and moved to Pahrump five years ago, coming from Minnesota.

She worked at an ambulance dispatcher and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.

Her husband Carl Hansen of Pahrump; son Dale Hansen of Washington; daughters Kristine Hansen and Lynne Lahaye, both of Washington; and three grandchildren survive her.

Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (5/9/05)

Doris Jackson

A potluck memorial service will be held for Doris Marie Jackson, 74, who passed away May 8, at 10 a.m. May 22 at the Amargosa Valley Community Center.

She was born Dec. 22, 1930 in Flint, Mich., and was a 30-year resident of Amargosa Valley.

As the owner of Stateline Gambling Hall and Restaurant, she was the only woman to hold an unrestricted gaming license since 1983.

She was a woman with her eye on the horizon, always looking forward, who will always be loved and missed by her family and friends.

Her children Wynn H. Brooks, Dan V. Brooks and Delana A. Brooks; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson survive her.

Affordable Cremation and Burial handled the arrangements. (5/8/05)

Mike Lambert

Services will be held in Newport, Wash., for Mike Lambert, 71, who passed away May 14 at Nathan Adelson Hospice - East.

He was born July 29, 1933 in Mississippi and was a 13-year resident of Pahrump.

He worked as truck driver and driller in the construction industry before retiring.

His wife Louise Lambert of Pahrump; sons David Lambert of San Francisco and Donald Lambert of Weatherford, Texas; three brothers; three sisters; and three grandchildren survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Shirley Driskill-Cole

Shirley Driskill-Cole, 78, passed away May 15 at Meadowlark Nursing Home in Rapid City, S.D., after a short bout with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the High Plains Community Church in Gillette, Wyo., with Pastor Dan Morgan officiating.

Shirley Jean Harrington was born on Nov. 17, 1926 to Elmer and Leah (Welch) Harrington in Blunt, S.D. She grew up, attended church and was educated in Rapid City, S.D., and then went on to get her teaching certification at Black Hills State College in Spearfish, S.D.

While attending college she met and then married Kay M. Driskill on June 21, 1947. Together they ran a successful ranching and hunting operation on the historic T Cross T family ranch near Alva, Wyo. She taught all ages of students in several rural schools as well as helped her husband with the day-to-day ranching operations. Along the way, the couple raised two children and made a multitude of friends. After more than 30 years on the family ranch, Shirley and her husband Kay entered the motel business in Rapid City and Stockbridge, Ga. In 1993 they retired to Pahrump, where Shirley lived until the death of Kay in 1996.

She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years, was well read, and is best remembered for being passionate about God, country and politics.

She married Hal Cole on July 15, 2000 and spent the next years traveling between homes in New London, Minn., Pahrump and Gillette.

Her husband Hal Cole of New London; daughter Sandy Bachman of Gillette; son J.L. Driskill of Alva; sisters Carol England of Rapid City and Myrtle Wiley of Indio, Calif.; stepchildren Lewis (Michelle) Cole of New London and Autumn Cole (Phil Hyde) of Ely, Minn., and Pahrump; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren survive her.

Her parents, brothers Virgil and Milo Harrington, and first husband Kay M. Driskill preceded her in death.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Shirley Driskill-Cole Memorial. The memorial was established in her name for the High Plains Community Church building fund. Condolences and gifts to the memorial may be sent to the High Plains Community Church, 111 E. 2nd Street, Gillette, WY 82716. (5/15/05)

Elisabeth Avery

Funeral services are pending for Elisabeth "Betty" Avery, 70, who passed away June 1 in Las Vegas.

She was born Oct. 14, 1934 in Fitchburg, Mass., and was a 14-year resident of Pahrump, coming from San Diego.

Her husband Ralph of Pahrump; son Darrell (Connie) and two grandchildren, Alexandria and Tessa, all of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; two brothers, Ray of Florida and Arthur of Massachusetts; and two sisters, Anita and Barbara, both of Massachusetts, survive her. (6/1/05)

James Dunning

A memorial service for James Dunning, 69, who passed away May 25 in Pahrump, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

He was born July 24, 1935 in New York. He lived in Pahrump for more than five years and was a previous resident of Pennsylvania and New York.

He served in the U.S. Marines and was employed as an ironworker. He was of the Catholic faith.

His wife Barbara Dunning of Pahrump, two daughters and one son, all of New York, survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Ernest Hope

A memorial service for Ernest Hope, 81, who passed away May 25 in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

He was an 18-year resident of Pahrump.

His wife of 25 years, Ramona, son Tom Hope; stepsons Gene Bullock of California and Richard Bullock of Utah; brothers Charlie Hope, Philip Hope and Lawrence (Hope) Hope of Canada; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive him. (5/25/05)

Elizabeth Salinas

A memorial service for Elizabeth Ann Salinas, 19, who passed away May 13 in Pahrump, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Petrack Park.

She was born Dec. 23, 1985 in Burbank, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for two years.

Her daughter Jaylee Alexandria Salinas; father Ricardo Salinas; mother Donna Stricklen; brother Edward Bornstine; sisters Jackalyn Salinas, Christina Salinas and Brenda Stricklen, survive her.

Zelpha Silva

Zelpha M. Silva passed away May 30 in St. George, Utah.

She was born Jan. 14, 1921. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her fiancé John Martinelli, daughters Kay McCallister, Karen Shepherd, Vonnie Chacon and Sherry Rodriguez; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren survive her.

Her husband William Silva preceded her in death. (5/30/05)

Scott Taack

Funeral services for Scott Taack, 18, who passed away May 31 in Las Vegas, will be held at noon Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

He was born Nov. 13, 1986 in Henderson and was a 10-year resident of Pahrump.

He graduated from Rosemary Clarke Middle School in 2000 and was home-schooled in his high school years. Scott enjoyed motocross, football, BMX and street bikes.

His mother Terry Taack; father John Taack; sister Jennifer (Scotty) Koch; grandparents Ron and Theresa Zanini and Mary Taack; niece Mariah Koch and nephew Korbin Koch survive him.

Grant Sexton

Visitation for Grant Harrison Sexton, 83, who passed away June 15 in Pahrump, will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church, 741 E. Fehrs Way (Highway 160 near Simkins).

He was born March 30, 1922 in Oklahoma and was a resident of Pahrump for 12 years, coming from Las Vegas.

He worked as a millwright in the construction industry and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, the Christian Bikers Association and Pahrump Gospel Lovers.

His wife Fay Sexton of Pahrump; 18 children, Martha Sue, Tom, Gary, Ramona Dawn, Sharon Lee, Rebecca Sue, Timothy Earl, Johnathan Paul, Lauraly, Daniel and Jeramiah, all of California, Steve and Pat of Texas, and Barbara and Judy of Oregon; and numerous grandchildren survive him.

His parents and three sons, Philip, Robert Owen and Grant Jr., preceded him in death.

Thomas Parks

A private family celebration of life will be held for Thomas Andrew "Andy" Parks, 55, who passed away June 17 in Las Vegas.

He was born Oct. 12, 1949 and was a 10-year resident of Pahrump. He worked as a classic car mechanic.

His wife Shyann Parks of Pahrump; mother Margaret Parks of Pahrump; daughter Jennifer Haarstad of Las Vegas; son Andrew Shea of Pahrump; brother Michael Parks of Las Vegas; sister Diane Parks of Pahrump; and two granddaughters, Adrianna and Julia, survive him.

His father, Evan Parks, preceded him in death. (6/17/05)

Arvilla Hightower

Arvilla Hightower, 80, of Pahrump, died June 17 in Carson City.

She was born June 26, 1924 in Blanchard, Okla., to John and Elsie Flowers.

She worked for many years at Nor-Cal Beverage Co. in Sacramento, Calif.

Her daughter Edie Knight of Carson City; sons Lester Fullbright of St. Louis and Paul Fullbright of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren survive her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Capitol City Cremations handled the arrangements. (6/17/05)
