Robert Carroll
Robert Maurice Carroll, 71, passed away Dec. 10 in Las Vegas.
He was born March 22, 1933 in South Dakota and was a resident of Pahrump for four years.
He served in the Army National Guard and then worked as a deputy sheriff for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department before retiring. He was a member of the Pahrump Gunfighters and was of the Catholic faith.
His wife Dora Puga Carroll of Pahrump; sons Jerry Carroll and Aumont Carroll; stepson Timothy Ramirez; daughters Debra Hernandez, Pamela Cruz, and Lorraine Carroll; stepdaughters Stephanie Bridgman and Terese Vespertino; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive him. (12/10/04)
Ray Depue
Services for Ray Depue, 77, who passed away Dec. 13 in Pahrump, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary on Cheyenne in Las Vegas.
He was born Jan. 31, 1927 in Ontario, Canada and moved to Pahrump eight years ago from Las Vegas.
He served in the U.S. Navy and then was self-employed in the automotive industry. He was a member of the American Sand Drag Association and the Amargosa Sand Drag Association.
His wife Thelma Depue of Pahrump; children Lynda Pate, Janice Liston and Chauncey Depue, all of Las Vegas; grandchildren Kimberly, Kelli, Jennifer, Jeff and Jamie of Las Vegas; and great grandchildren Kayla, Madison and Cole of Las Vegas, survive him.
His parents Chauncey and Allie Depue and son Jimmy Depue preceded him in death.

Marshall Klier
Services have been held for Marshall E. Klier Sr., 91, who passed away Dec. 7 in Pahrump.
He was born Nov. 11, 1913 in Buffalo, N.Y. He moved to Pahrump seven years ago from Garden Grove, Calif. to enjoy his retirement and help his daughter and son-in-law in the family business, B&C Printing, Inc.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
His wife of 67 years, Helen Klier, of Pahrump; sons Thomas (Joann) Klier of Garden Grove, Calif., and Marshall (Janet) Klier, Jr. of Ten Mile, Ore.; daughter Mary (Bruce) Paskvan of Pahrump; grandsons Jason and Joshua; granddaughters Jackie and Jodie; and great granddaughter Sabrina survive him.
One son, Dennis M. Klier, preceded him in death.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.

Hallie Miller
Services have been held for Hallie Lavern Miller, 69, who passed away Dec. 10 in Pahrump.
She was born March 27, 1935 and moved to Pahrump three years ago from Florida.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Moose Lodge and of the Baptist faith.
Her daughter Anita Marie Miller of Florida; brothers Clark Miller and Joseph Miller, both of Pahrump; and sisters Marsha Miller of Pahrump and Marcella Miller of Las Vegas survive her.

Roger Charbonneau
Services for Roger F. Charbonneau, 68, who passed away Dec. 16 in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Burial will follow at Chief Tecopa cemetery. Viewing will be from 3:30-8 p.m. today at Pahrump Family Mortuary.
He was born Sept. 15, 1936 in Ottawa, Ill., and moved to Nevada in 1970. He was involved with and influential in the Pahrump community for many years. He built, owned and operated several businesses in the Pahrump Valley and was a former director for Valley Electric Association. He was known for his leadership, honesty and integrity. He enjoyed Nascar, refurbishing old cars and loved spending time with his family.
His wife Mabel; children Mike Carpenter, Marla Quercia, Terry Charbonneau, Jerry Charbonneau, Mira Haenel, Sherry Charbonneau, Jeff Charbonnuear and Gina Cummins; 12 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren survive him.

Donald Ackland
Services have been held for Donald Dean Ackland, 68, who passed away Dec. 14 in Las Vegas.
He was born Aug. 25, 1936 in Bakersfield, Calif., and was a two-year resident of Pahrump.
His mother, Mary Parks; sister Marsha Holleman; son Caedmon (Cam) of Boston; daughters Claire and Julia of Ventura, Calif.; granddaughter Leia; niece and nephew Amelia and Bruce of Las Vegas; and extended family Robert and Lisa Holleman and family survive him.
His daughter, Mary Katherine, and father, Ray Parks, preceded him in death. (12/14/04)
Edwin Cobb
Services for Edwin Lewis Cobb, 79, who passed away Dec. 13 in Pahrump, will be held at noon Thursday at Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.
He was born Nov. 1, 1925 in Chicago and moved to Pahrump three years ago from Boulder City.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and worked as a chief executive officer.
He was a member of the Elks, Masons, Shriners and Order of the Eastern Star.
His daughter Sheryl (Frank) Cork of Pahrump; son Edwin Cobb of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren survive him.

Abe Fox
Services have been held for Abe Fox, 90, who passed away Dec. 17 in Las Vegas.
He was born Nov. 29, 1914 in New York City and was a 49-year resident of Las Vegas. He was a retired restaurant owner (Foxy's on the Strip) in Las Vegas and land developer in Pahrump and Winnemucca.
His daughter Carol (Ron) Taylor of Pahrump; son Jerry (Mary) Fox of Henderson; stepdaughter Rosalie (Delous) Kinney of Las Vegas; stepson Don (Becky) Jacobs of Las Vegas; significant other Katherine Gelber of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren survive him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Congregation Ner Tamid and Youth Charities of Southern Nevada.

Phyllis Miller
Services have been held for Phyllis Miller, 76, who passed away Dec. 14 in Sacramento, Calif.
She was born May 4, 1928 in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was a former 14-year resident of Pahrump and was a member of Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church.
Her son Matthew and grandchildren Benjamin, Elizabeth, Bryan, Joshua, David and Phillip survive her.
Her husband, Donald L. Miller, and sons, Philip "Andy" and Gordon, preceded her in death. (12/14/04)
Peggy Andrews
Peggy L. Andrews, 80, passed away Dec. 21 at her home in Pahrump.
She was born Jan. 10, 1924 in Shamrock, Texas to Robert Homer and Susie Jane (Houston) Compary. She was named Artie Loretta Pearl Compary and acquired the lifelong nickname of Peggy.
During World War II she worked during the day at the Richmond Shipyard as an electrician's assistant helping to repair battle-damaged ships and by night she entertained at the USO.
There she met and married
her first husband, Aviation Machinist's Mate 3/C Steven Frank Bires and moved with him to Chicago. They had four children.
In 1960 Peggy moved to Las Vegas with her son Steven Scott. The following year she met Vernon Andrews; the celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary Dec. 1.
Peggy and her family moved to Pahrump in February 1968.
In Pahrump, as well as Las Vegas, she was active in the Cub Scout program and was a one-woman charity providing Christmas baskets to less fortunate families.
She worked alongside her husband Vernon supporting various charitable programs for the Lions Club and put in many hours working with Lions members in building the Pahrump Senior Center.
Peggy became the first Queen Lioness of the Pahrump Lioness Club and became active in supporting the Lions Burn Center in Las Vegas and City of Hope in Duarte, Calif.
The Lioness Club and City of Hope honored her with a plaque in her name on the Lions Wall at the City of Hope.
Peggy was also among the first women to become members of the Pahrump Volunteer Fire Department.
During Harvest Festival and Fourth of July she worked on the barbecues and booths to raise funds for local activities.
She and husband Vernon bought the Sear Catalog Store in 1981 and operated it for nine years.
Her husband Vernon Andrews of Pahrump; son Steven Scott (Tracy) Andrews of Las Vegas; sister Opal M. Compary of Clovis, N.M.; aunt Anges Houston of Tustin, Calif.; step-grandson Jerry (Shannon) Barker of Pahrump; and many nieces and nephews survive her.
Her father Robert Compary, mother Susie Thomas, half-brother Andy Compary, half-sisters Florence Hill and Kitty Boldes, sisters Mildred Fails and Ruby Pauline Watkins, brother R.D. Compary, daughters Peggy Diane Bires and Sherry Cathleen Bires and son Frank Bires preceded her in death.
A gathering of family friends to honor her memory will be held at the Andrews' home on Saturday. (12/21/04)
