ELIZA BORREGO TRUJILLO, 77, of Espaņola died Saturday after a battle with diabetes and cancer.
She was a direct descendant of the Spanish settler Pedro Lucero de Godoy, who established Los Luceros in 1600. She attended Santa Cruz High School and the Chillicothe Business College in Missouri. She and her husband started the Espaņola Construction Co. in 1951 and were active in business in the Espaņola Valley for many years. She was a Fiesta de Oņate Princess during the first Oņate Fiesta de Espaņola. She was a member of the Santa Cruz de la Caņada Church and a member of the Holy Family Coro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vicente and Beroniz Borrego; husband, Ismael; son, Joseph Mel; and brothers, Joe, Ross, Fabian, Ernesto and Ruben.
She is survived by her sisters, Theresa and husband Charles Radosevich, Marie Pacheco and Tita Archuleta; brothers, Henry, Rumaldo and wife Mary Louise and Placido and wife Delfina; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Dominican Sisters Convent of the Santa Cruz de la Caņada Church in Santa Cruz.

ROBERT LARRY VARELA, 49, of Las Vegas, N.M. died Friday after a long illness.
He attended West Las Vegas Schools. He was an auto mechanic by trade and a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Ortega Varela.
He is survived by his son, Larry Varela Jr. of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters, Jolene Gonzales of Las Vegas, N.M. and Carlita Zamora of Denver; father, Raymond Varela of Las Vegas, N.M,; brothers, George Varela and wife Jessie of Las Vegas, N.M., Earl Varela and wife Mary and Orlando Ray Varela, all of San Antonio; sister, Jo Ann Lujan and husband Charles of Pojoaque; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

JOHNNY DEAN VELARDE, 39, of Santa Fe died Friday.
He was a former resident of Velarde.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1353. He was a member of the New Mexico Army National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. He loved to read, enjoyed music and loved to be surrounded by his son and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fidencio and Rosarito T. Velarde.
He is survived by his son, Adrian J. Velarde; sister, Ida C. Romero and husband Anthony of Velarde; brother, Ramon Velarde and friend Loyola Martinez of Velarde; and many other relatives and friends. Services have been held.

BROTHER REGIS ANDREW WHITE, 83, of Santa Fe died Sunday after a brief illness.
He was born in Las Cruces. He began teaching at the College of Santa Fe in 1956 and later served as administrator of education for the State Penitentiary from 1971 to 1973. Brother Regis taught at St. Michael's High School from 1977 to 1983 and since that time has had assignments at the College of Santa Fe.
He is survived by his sister, Betty White of Boulder.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Chapel at the College of Santa Fe.

ADELA ANGEL, 94, of La Junta, Colo., died Thursday after a long illness.
She was born in Encinosa and grew up in New Mexico. She moved with her husband in 1950 to the Arkansas Valley. She worked for more than 20 years in housekeeping at what was then the Mennonite Hospital until retiring in 1978. She was active in the ladies organization of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta, Colo.

MARJORY WARREN CARR, 90, of Santa Fe died March 16, 2004.
She was born and raised in Amarillo. She taught speech, English, and drama at Santa Fe High School for 35 years. She was an independent spirit and an avid gardener.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Newman J. Carr; daughter, Sarah Carr Will; parents, Thomas and Didama Gaines Warren; brothers, Clarence, Gaines, and Frank; and sisters, Addie and Birdie.
She is survived by her sons TJ Carr of Albuquerque and Cleve N. Carr of Indian Springs, Nev.; four grandchildren; and many other relatives.

RONALD D. GANDERT, 43, of Mora died Thursday at the Holy Cross Hospital in Taos.
He was born in Denver, Colo. He was a self-employed mechanic with the Gandert's Auto Shop in Mora. He liked working on cars and was an excellent car painter. He was a member of St. Gertrudes Church in Mora.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Gandert; and biological father, Eddie Cordova.
