Epimenia Casias
Died May 3, 2007
Epimenia Casias, 70, of Taos passed away on May 03, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Abran Casias, parents, Juan & Felina Sanchez. She is survived by her children, Patsy Rael (Rudy) of Arroyo Hondo, Darlene Marquez (Jesus) of Tulsa, OK, Bolivar Casias (Epi) of Las Vegas, Juan and Jake Casias both of Taos and grandson she raised, Antonio Casias. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brothers, Cipriano and Eugene Sanchez (Cornelia).
Rosary was recited on May 06, 2007. Funeral mass was held on May 07, 2007. Both services were held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Frances Poole
May 5, 2007
Frances Pinder Poole, 88, of Taos, passed away on May 5, 2007, after a long illness. Frances was born on October 31, 1918 to Thomas Pinder and Ida Molock. After the early deaths of her parents, Frances was raised by her loving aunt and uncle Frances and Aldie Cannon, of Philadelphia, PA. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, James Russell Poole, and her beloved daughter Frances Poole Lee. She is survived by her daughter JoAnn Poole Mills and grandson Seamus Mills, of Taos; sisters Josephine Price of Pennsylvania, and Vivian Jackson, of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances had a distinguished career as a mathematician and computer analyst for the U.S. government. She will be remembered for her great intellect; strong personality; and beautiful hand~knit creations.

Sylvia Paavola Kentala
Died May 5, 2007
Sylvia Paavola Kentala peacefully passed away May 5, 2007 in Taos, New Mexico. She was 101 years old. Sylvia was born in Lohtasa, Finland. She lived in Iron Belt, WI and Chicago, IL before moving to Taos where she had family and good friends. .She lived a disciplined and impeccable life in service to others. She will be greatly missed. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Heikki Sanfrid Paavola and Silla Maria Wiitala Paavola, her husband, Oscar in 1960, her son, John Kentala (Violet) of Chicago, IL and her daughter, Irma Lang (Howard) of Tucson, AZ,. Her brothers Bruno Paavola (Aili), Oscar Paavola (Mary),
Henry Paavola (Mary) all of Wisconsin. And her grand-daughter Deanna Seiler of Chicago, IL. She is survived by her son, Eugene Kentala (Mary) of Silver Bay, MN and her daughter, Jeanette Garcia (P. LeRoy) of Taos, NM. Along with 19 grandchildren: Daniel (Carmen) Kentala, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Susan (Frank) Riggio, David Kentala, Charles (Lisa) Kentala, Lynn (Alan) Genovese, Lee Kentala, Nicholas (Jonie) Kentala, all of the Chicago area. Jean Ann (John) Ehlers, Duluth, MN JoAnn (Bill) Jones, New Bern, NC, Julie Jensen, June (David) Talus, Jane Ann (Dale) Knafla all of Silver Bay, MN. Alan Lang, Tucson, AZ, Cheryl (Robert) Siebert, Grants, NM. Debra (Luis)de la Torre, Albuquerque, NM, Diane Seiler, Taos, NM, Steven (Karen)Seiler, Taos, NM, and Kevin (Robin) Seiler, Albuquerque, NM. Sylvia is also survived by 46 Great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.and many nieces and nephews.

Jeri Morrow
May 7, 2007
Jeri T. Morrow, 74, of Taos and formerly of Tulsa, OK, where she spent most of her life passed away on May 07, 2007. She retired as an Office Administrator from Sun Oil in Tulsa, OK. She was the past Worthy Grand Matron of the Order of Eastern Star for the State of Oklahoma and a member of Christ Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents, J.T. & Viola Morrow and nephew, Manford Strider. She is survived by sister, Barbara Brawner of Taos, nieces and nephews, Clifford Strider III, Michael Strider, Carl Strider, Brian Strider, Douglas Strider, Donna Giroir and Rebecca Strider and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2007 at 5 PM at Las Cruces cemetery in Taos.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shared Table, A Food Pantry, providing food, shelter and medicine to the less fortunate, at the El Pueblito United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 895, Ranchos de Taos, NM 87557.

Francisco Rivera
Died May 8, 2007
Francisco Rivera, 28, of Taos passed away unexpectedly on May 08, 2007. He was a 1996 graduate of Taos High School. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph R. Flores, grandparents in law, Max & Feloniz Mondragon. He is survived by his wife, Julie O. Rivera, children, Sonya Romero, Francisco Rivera Jr., and Destiny Baca, parents, Mayanin & Samuel Rivera, sister, Darlene T. Rivera (Antonio) of Albuquerque, brothers, Rosendo T. Rivera of Albuquerque, Samuel F. Rivera II of Taos and Roger Soliz of Albuquerque, grandmother, Ramona G. Flores of California, in laws, Martin & Maxine Baca and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on May 11, 2007. Funeral mass was held on May 12, 2007. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held at the new Llano Quemado cemetery.

Rosalia Abeyta
Died May 8, 2007
Rosalia Maria Abeyta, 82, of Taos passed away on May 08, 2007. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosalio & Teodosita Mondragon, grandchildren, Nathan & Marie Abeyta, sisters, Eloisa and Stella Romero, Connie Mondragon, Corine Trujillo and brother, Palemon Mondragon. She is survived by her husband, Juan Abeyta, children, Filbert Abeyta (Caroline Romero), Floyd Abeyta (Pauline), Arthur Abeyta, Francine Abeyta, Alex Abeyta and Karl Abeyta all of Taos. She is also survived by grandchildren, Juan and Fatima Abeyta and Aries Miera, great granddaughter, Eunique Amor Salazar, brothers, Carlos, Amadeo (Eva), Juan (Tomasita) and Helidoro Mondragon and many other relatives.
Funeral mass was held on May 11, 2007 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held at the New Llano Quemado cemetery.

Lesvia Rodriguez
Died May 12, 2007
Lesvia Rodriguez, 60, of El Prado passed away on May 12, 2007. She was an Educational Assistant for special needs students with the Taos Municipal Schools. She was a longtime member of the Guadalupanas and a Eucharist Minister for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Lesvia gave the gift of life by being an organ donor. She is preceded in death by her son, Valentin Rodriguez III, parents, Jesus & Elena Castillon, brothers, Juan and Jesus Castillon, brothers in law, Oscar Rodriguez and Dan Garcia. She is survived by her husband, Valentin, children, Martin Rodriguez (Jeanette), June Chavez, Patricia Gonzales (Enrique) and Sonya Rodriguez (Juan Carlos). She is also survived by brother, Oscar Castillon (Rosie), sisters, Helen "Lala" Garcia and Belia Rodriguez, grandchildren, Enrique and Alejandro Gonzales, Isaac and Larissa Chavez, sister in law, Carmella Castillon, many close nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Rosary was recited on May 18, 2007. Funeral Mass was held on May 19, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Dolores cemetery.

Adelina Vigil
Died May 13, 2007
Adelina Vigil, of Taos passed away on May 13, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Amarante Vigil and 1 great grandchild. She is survived by her children, Lucille Valerio of Santa Fe and William (Billy) Vigil of Albuquerque, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sister, Connie Archuleta, brothers, Luis and Patricio Martinez.
Rosary was recited on May 17, 2007. Funeral mass was held on May 18, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Benita Peralta
Died May 13, 2007
Benita Peralta, 96, of Taos passed away on May 13, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Simon L. Peralta, son, Simon E. Peralta (Marcia) and Arthur Martinez, who she raised like a son,. She is survived by her son, Orlando "Datto" Peralta of Alcalde, grandchildren, Francella Martinez (Clyde), Loretta Martinez, Simon Peralta (Linda), Dennis Peralta (Matilda), Anna and Daniella Peralta, David and Paul Martinez (Carmella), numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited on May 16, 2007. Funeral mass was held on May 17, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Elvira A. Ortega

Elvira A. Ortega, 97, of Questa passed away on May 14, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Felipe S. Ortega, children, Elsita, Rosalina, Leo Ortega, and Elsie Moran. She is survived by children, Felipe C. Ortega (Wanda) of Questa, Rudy Ortega (Edna) of Albuquerque, J. Frank Ortega (Laura) of Albuquerque, Berlinda Trujillo of Questa, Julia Phiefer of Los Angeles, CA, Teddie Richter of Albuquerque, Anita Ambs (Larry) of Peru, Indiana and Fran Rose (Wayne) of Albuquerque, niece, Corina Cisneros of Questa. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 7 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Questa.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10 AM at St. Anthony Church.
Interment will be held on Monday, May 21, 2007 at La Lama cemetery.

Jose Eloy Arellano

Jose Eloy Arellano, 71, of Los Lunas and formerly of Costilla passed away on May 18, 2007. He was the owner and operator of Joe's Conoco in Costilla for many years. He was a member of La Cofradia de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose I. & Tonita Arellano and sister, Celia Santistevan. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lillian M. Arellano, children, ToniAnn Martinez (Ernesto) of Los Lunas, Nora Gonzales, (Dr. Rudy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Alma Duran (Demecio) of Costilla, Luciano Arellano (Paula) of Pueblo, CO, Mary Arellano-Atkins (Larry) of Chama, CO and Andrea Arellano of Los Lunas, sister, Casilda Lovato (Dee) of Costilla, 7 grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosaries will be recited on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel and on Monday, May 21, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow at Costilla cemetery.

Adela M. Trujillo

Adela M. Trujillo, 92, of Taos passed away on May 20, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Silviano Trujillo, parents, Amadeo and Socorro Mares. She is survived by her children, Fabiola Trujillo of Taos, Dorothy Pacheco (Johnny) of Alcalde, Ernest Trujillo (Irene) of Nambe, Priscilla Garcia (Pat) of Questa, Martha Vigil (Valentin) of Taos, Leroy Trujillo (Joanne) of Taos and Socorro Trujillo of Taos. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, sister, Eloisa Martinez of San Leondro, CA, sisters in law, Polly and Julia Mares both of Taos and many other relatives.
Rosaries will be recited on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel and on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment to follow at Dolores cemetery.

Bersabe J. Chacon
Died May 20, 2007
Bersabe J. Chacon, 88, of Arroyo Hondo passed away on May 20, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Chacon and son, Billy Gonzales. She is survived by her children, Alex Gonzales (Rosabel) of Arroyo Hondo, Frances Brito of Albuquerque, Deluvina Martinez (Gilbert) of Denver, CO, Lydia Cisneros (Gabby) of Questa and Nelson Martinez (Linda) of Lemoore, CA. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, brothers, Tony Medina (Odila) and Juan Medina (Beatrice), sisters, Rebecca Rael, Beatrice Gonzales, Della Smith (Jim) and Ursula Romo.
Rosaries will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel and on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with interment to follow at Upper Arroyo Hondo cemetery.

Virgil Bartz
Died May 20, 2007
Virgil Bartz, 88, of Taos and formerly of Manhattan Beach, CA, passed away on May 20, 2007. He was surrounded by loving family and the devoted staff at Plaza de Retiro Medical Center. Virgil served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga during WWII. He was employed by Rockwell Intl. and, he was an avid sports enthusiast. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Catherine Moore. Virgil will be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family feels honored to have been a part of his life and to have been present at his passing. The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Schreiber for his extraordinary compassion and insight, Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their kind support and attention to detail and to the staff and residents at Plaza de Retiro, who helped make Virg's years in Taos some of his best.
Graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 11 AM at the Santa Fe National cemetery.

Manuelita Mondragon

Manuelita Mondragon, 72, of Los Cordovas passed away on May 22, 2007. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Darryl Mondragon, parents, Demetrio & Celia Trujillo, sisters, Fabiola Romero & Anita Casias, brothers, Clarence & Benito Trujillo. She is survived by her husband, Levi Mondragon Jr., children, Loretta Mondragon and Pete Mondragon both of Los Cordovas, Dolores Kronenberg (Bill) of Connecticut, Damian Mondragon and Barbara Mondragon (Victor Estrada) of Los Cordovas, grandson she raised, Kevin Mondragon of Rio Rancho. She is also survived by grandchildren, Andrea & Nicole Mondragon, Marcos Mondragon, Vanessa & Darryl Estrada, great granddaughter, Kaelyn Pacheco, brothers, Demetrio Eloy Trujillo (Lorraine), Pacomio Trujillo (Betty) and Wilfred Trujillo (Rebecca) and many other relatives.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 7 PM at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 10 AM at San Francisco de Asis Church with interment to follow at Los Cordovas cemetery.
