David J. Muniz, 49, of Los Cordovas passed away on
April 12, 2005. He is preceded in death by his father, Antonio Muniz and sister, Regina. He is survived by his children, Jose Muniz of Taos and Rayos Muniz of Phoenix, mother, Bennie Muniz, brother, Jake Muniz (Didi), sisters, Antonette Medina (Paul) and Cindy Muniz, several nephews and nieces.

Isabel O. Romero, 86, of Llano Quemado passed away April 10, 2005. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Carlos Chavez, second husband, Alfred Romero Sr., sons, Alfred Romero Jr. and Carlos Chavez and brother, Candido Ortiz. Eloisa Cordova, 96, of Chamisal passed away on April 10, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Victor Cordova, son, Macario Cordova, daughter, Rebecca Fujino, grandchildren, Louis Cordova, Roger Pacheco, Robert Cordova Sr. and Macario Gonzales. She is survived by her children, Olivama Pacheco, Felix Cordova, Ross Cordova, Joe Cordova (Vicky), Rosana Abeyta (Juan), Laura Abeyta (Gilbert Paul) all of Chamisal, Linora Pacheco of Santa Fe, Maclovia Fresquez (Anselmo) of Las Vegas, NV and Dina Duran (Robert) of Talpa. Carlos L. DeHerrera, 83, of El Paso, Texas passed away on April 07, 2005. He was born December 12, 1921 in Costilla, New Mexico to Meliton and Lupe DeHerrera. Carlos served in the United States Army during the World War II. He had also worked for 20 years at Ft. Bliss, Texas and retired from the Civil Service. He had been a resident of El Paso since 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Maggie, brothers Ernesto, Billy, and Meliton Jr. Mr. DeHerrera is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elvira DeHerrera; son, Charlie DeHerrera and wife Rose; step son, Rafael Armendariz and wife Chole, all of El Paso, Texas; brothers, Ben De Herrera of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Valdemar DeHerrera and wife Connie of Costilla, New Mexico; sisters, Bellesandra Livingston of Denver, Colorado and Maxine Caravello of Taos, New Mexico; and numerous grand children, nieces and nephews.
Services were held under the arrangement of Martin Funeral Home Central at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in El Paso, Texas. Interment followed at Ft. Bliss National cemetery.
Elvira Maria Fernandez, 97of Ranchos de Taos passed away on April 04, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose E. Fernandez in 1982, daughters, Sofia Maestas Fernandez and Edna Fernandez. She is survived by her children, Jose D. Fernandez of Ranchos de Taos, Rosalind Anglada (Adelmo) of Santa Cruz, Senovio Fernandez (Rose) of Taos, Manuel Fernandez (Manuelita) of Talpa, Sophia Chacon (David) of Lower Las Colonias and Alice Tapia (Diego) of Santa Fe. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many other relatives.

Adolph J Martinez 1926 - 2005 Our loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Adolph Joseph Martinez, passed away peacefully at his home on April 1, 2005. He was born January 11, 1926 in Park City, Utah to Max and Dolores Abeyta Martinez. He was a decorated World War II and Korean War veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman, sheepherder, hard rock miner, and a true cowboy at heart. He is survived by his children, Martin C. (Eloisa) Ortiz, Joyce (Frank) Martinez-Perris, Bernadette (Ralph D.) Martinez-Astorga, Kelly Adolph (Debbie) Martinez, Jr., Jack (Jeanne) Martinez, and Fredrick (Lori) Martinez. 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; brothers, Abedon O. (Jane) Martinez and T. C. (Ursela) Martinez. He was preceded in death by a son, Adolph, Jr. and his one true love, Eloisa Martinez. Ilse Hilde Grunninger, 67 of Arroyo Seco passed peacefully on Friday, 04/01/05. Born in Altbach, Germany. Ilse arrived in the US in 1960. After 20 years in computer management she retired to Taos in 1981. She spent six months in Indonesia teaching English at a private Muslim school returning in 2001. She devoted most of her time to her business. Taos Spirit Crafts, which included designing and handcrafting colorful knitted garments as well creating spirit bundles from nature’s gifts that she gathered from nearby woods. Her crafts were placed in galleries in Taos, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Ilse was also trained and certified as a Reiki Master Practitioner and offered her healing to many in this area. Emilia G. Fresquez, 79, of Ranchos de Taos, passed away on August 19, 2005. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Isabel Garcia and son, Robert Anthony Fresquez. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Manuel A. Fresquez, her children, Alex Fresquez (Elidia), Mary P. Roybal (Melvin Trujillo), Henry Fresquez (Anna Espinoza), Joe Fresquez, Ruby Luna (Anthony), Reyes Roybal (Karen Garcia) all from Ranchos de Taos, brother Carlos Garcia, Jr. (Claudina), 8 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

Phoebe Fernandez Vigil, 96, of Taos passed away August 17, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband Obed Vigil, and son, Randy Vigil. She is survived by her sister, Lucy Carter, sister-in-law, Margarita Cisneros, three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy Berninghaus Brandenburg 1902-2005
Dorothy Brandenburg passed away August 17, 2005, . at the age of 103. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Emilia Berninghaus, daughter Marcia Brandenburg, husband Jack Brandenburg and brother Charles Berninghaus. Survivors include daughter Barbara Brenner and husband John, granddaughters Marcia Winter and husband Fred, Anne Brenner, and great grandsons Wyatt and Peter Winter.
Dorothy was born July 8, 1902 in St Louis, MO, received her bachelors degree in education from Washington University and spent every summer in Taos from 1908 on. She married
Jack Brandenburg in 1927 and they became permanent residents in Taos in 1931. She was the last of the children of the Taos Society of Artists, of which her father was a founding member.
Dorothy was always involved in civic affairs. She served as state president of the PTA in 1948-50 and a member of the board of Managers of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, and was on the Board of Regents of the University of New Mexico in the 1960's. She was a board member of First State Bank for many years, a member of First Presbyterian Church, as well as serving on the Santa Fe Opera Board, the Harwood Foundation, the Red Cross, and chaired the building committee for the Taos Art Association's new auditorium in 1971-2. She was chosen as a Taos Living Treasure in 2002.
Among her avocations, were fly fishing, horseback riding, hunting, camping, traveling, and in later life bridge became her passion.
Like her father, Oscar Berninghaus, she was never too busy to help with any worthy community cause.
