Ed F. Garcia, 64, of Cerro passed away on January 22nd, 2005. He is survived by his wife Dolores D. Garcia, daughter Pamela Montoya (Gilbert) of Chimayo and son Edmund Garcia (Tami) of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by his grandchildren Paola Garcia, Gabriela and Alexandrea Montoya, Haley Rae and Jordon Louisa Garcia, sisters Mary Arellano, Lila Cerna (Ben), and Elizabeth Flores.

Jose Abel Espinoza, known as Mongolio, age 80 born on July 03, 1924 died on January 23, 2005 at this home in Taos after a lengthy illness. Abel will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity and strong loving spirit and always putting others before himself Abel was born in Black Lake, NM to the late Juanita and Enriquez Espinoza. He is survived by his wife, Benita Espinoza of 41 years, children, Mathew Espinoza, Evelyn Martinez (Allen) and Melissa Martinez (Richard). He is also survived by grandchildren, Mindy Trujillo, Samantha & Matthew Espinoza, John Allen Jr. and sister, Margarita Sandoval of Albuquerque. Abel also helped raise his sister in law, Cecilia Trujillo, children, Moises Trujillo, Mae Trujillo and Leslie Tafoya who he also considered a very close part of the family.

Anna Marie “Annie” Martinez de Gonzales, 40, of El Prado passed away on Tuesday, February 08, 2005. She was a school bus contractor for Taos Municipal Schools and a 1982 graduate of Taos High School. She is preceded in death by her father, Ernest Martinez, grandparents, Jose & Marina Cordova, Toribio & Celina Martinez, Rafelita & Armando Claudio Gonzales, Petrita & Luis Fernandez. She is survived by her husband, Faustin “Tiner” Gonzales Jr., children, Amanda and Faustin “Juno” Gonzales, mother, Cecilia Martinez (Jose Claudio Romero), sisters, Ernestine Padilla (Ray), Dianna Watson (Adonais) and Dolores Martinez (Mike), in laws, Flora & Faustin Gonzales, sisters and brother in law, Loretta Gonzales (Bruce), Debra Blythe (John), Raymond Gonzales (Viviana), special nephew, Ernesto Martinez, many other relatives and friends. She loved all her nephews and nieces and was always thinking about them.

David Eric Galvez, 38, passed away February 7, 2005 at his home. David was born March 9, 1966 in Albuquerque, New Mexico the son of Erineo Eric Galvez and Nora R. Rael Galvez. David united in marriage to Michelle Ortiz on October 4, 1986 in San Luis, CO. He was a member of the Rio Costilla Livestock Association and Golden Gloves Boxing. His hobbies included horse riding, bull riding, carving, painting, fishing, reading, praying and skiing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loving family. Survivors include his wife Michelle Galvez of the family home in Jaroso, CO; parents, Erineo & Nora Galvez of Jaroso, CO; mother-in-law, Anna Marie Ortiz of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter (Esperanza) Hope Andrea Galvez of Jaroso, CO; two sons, William & Jonathon Galvez both of Jaroso, CO sister, Annamarie Ortiz of Colorado Springs, CO, brother Dr. Estevan Rael-Galvez of Santa Fe, NM. David was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Felipe Ortiz, maternal grandparents, Jose Albino Rael, Andrellita Mandonado Rael, paternal grandparents, Antonio J. Galvez and Adela Martinez Galvez.
Sonya (Dorman) Hess, passed peacefully from this life on Feb. 14, 2005. She was born in New York City in 1924 and moved to Taos, NM in 1986. She was an author and a poet. Her science fiction works are in noted anthologies and she published seven books of poetry. Her last years were spent with the loving care at Plaza de Retiro. She will be interred at Auburn, Maine. Any memorials should be sent to the Sonya Hess collection at the Taos, NM Public Library.
William Bill, Sarson, 71, of Silver City, NM, former Real Estate Appraiser of Taos, NM. passed away Friday, Jan. 28, at home after a long illness. Survivors include his wife, Perfecta, children, Gary Mosley, of Scottsdale, AZ; Stephen Mosley of Silver City, NM; Carol Gonzalez of Monument, CO.

Cornelio Rendon, 82, of Arroyo Seco passed away on Friday, February 25, 2005. He is survived by his brothers, Jose Rendon of Arroyo Seco and Sabino Rendon of Rio Rancho.

Eloy Quintana, Sr., 72, of El Prado passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2005. He worked for Holy Cross Hospital for 47 years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Eliza Salazar and grandson, Gabriel Cardenas. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Quintana and children, Eloy Quintana Jr., Marygrace Hammer and Sylvia Quintana (Jose) all of Taos. He is also survived by grandchildren, Dominic and Stephanie Hammer, Requildo Cardenas, great grandchildren, Gabriel and Isaac Cardenas, brother and sisters, Sam Quintana, Dolores Baca (Juan), Mercy Trujillo (Ray), Angie Gonzales, many nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Reymundo “Landy” Maestas, 62, of Talpa passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2005. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres C. & Eloisa Maestas. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Guillerma Romero (Jose), Anastacio Maestas (Kathy), Esther Santistevan (Roy), Andres Maestas Jr., Corrine Valdez (Eugene), Uvaldo Maestas (Linda), Bernida Maestas, Tomasita Maestas and Manuel Maestas (Cecilia). He is also survived by aunt, Emilina Garcia, many nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Virginia A. Steensgaard, 85, a current resident of Taos, formerly of Waterloo, IA, passed away on February 22, 2005. She is preceded in death by her parents; George and Myrtle Conway, a brother; Kenneth Conway and a daughter in law; Sharon Steensgaard in 2003. Mrs. Steensgaard is survived by her husband; Jens R. Steengaard and a son; Gary Richard Steensgaard and wife Doris of Ruidoso, NM. Grandson; Mark Steensgaard and wife Keeler of St. Louis, Missouri, Granddaughter; MaryAnn Ferguson and husband Adam of Taos, NM, three great grandchildren; Brandon and Jonathan Steensgaard and Sierra Ferguson. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Sophie L. Graves, 89, of Taos passed away on February 19, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Graves in 1974 and Grandson, Mike Graves. She is survived by her children, Bonnie H. Ryan (Bill) of Taos, Tony L. Graves (Louise) of Taos and Gilbert Graves (Deborah) of Tusas. She is also survived by sisters, Ernestine Maestas (Ben) of Taos and Polly Duran of Des Montes, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. M. Clifford Romero - 49, A resident of Vadito passed away on February 17, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Clifford loved to be in the mountains, going for wood and riding his horse. He was a great father to his children. He is survived by his wife Teresa Romero; daughters: Marissa Romero and Sierra Romero; sons: Malaquias C. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, February 21, 2005 at 11:00 am. at St. Anthony's in Penasco. Burial followed at Vadito cemetery.
Hadasah K. Green, 85, of Taos passed on March 26, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Irving Green. She and her husband started Fiesta Bakery on North Pueblo Road.

She is survived by her children, Robert Oakeley (Glayds) of Taos, Bill Oakeley (Antonia) of Santa Fe, Barbara Mondragon (Lloyd) of Taos and Jim Oakeley (Louella) of Arroyo Hondo, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives.

Van Hinds, 91, of Taos passed away on March 22, 2005. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Hinds. He is survived by his children, Mary Powell (Tom), Larry Hinds, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
