WALTER GRAHAM
Services: Have been held.
Walter R. Graham, 71 of Fort Sumner, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Laurel Ridge Care Center in Clovis.
He was born on April 11, 1932, in Gregory, Ark., to Walter R. and Erma Florence Dodd Graham.
He made his home in Fort Sumner, where he worked as an electrician for several years.
He married Inez M. Brockman on April 12, 1997, in Fort Sumner. He was a member of the Church on the Hill.
Walter was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Carpenter Graham; his second wife, Inez M. Graham; and his parents.
Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Benson of Oregon City, Ore.; a step-daughter, Linda Hopkins; and four step-sons, Jim, Joe, Mike and Ed Brockman, all of California.
Cremation has taken place.
The Rev. Anna Teeter will officiate the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church on the Hill, P.O. Box 467, Fort Sumner, NM 88119 or the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180, Fort Sumner, NM 88119.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.

Bobby Gras
Services: Have been held.
Bobby Gras, 47, of Levelland, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Covenant Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock.
He was born May 28, 1956, in Portales.
In 1979 he moved to Levelland from Portales. He was active in league bowling in Levelland and was on a number of championship teams. He was a plumber for Area Wide Plumbing in Levelland and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Kay Gras.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Marie Carrasco of Amarillo; a brother, Herman Gras of Portales; and a sister, Mary LeClear of Clovis.
The Rev. Michael Holmes will officiate the services in Levelland.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. today at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ricky, Randy Sr., Brian, Eugene Jr., and Randy Edward LeClear and Randal Burnett.
Arrangements are by George C. Price Funeral Directors of Levelland.

Michael Gray
Services: Have been held.
Michael R. Gray, 50, of Hobbs, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, in Hobbs.
He was born June 25, 1953, in Hobbs, to Kelly and Mary Ruth Gray.
He married Sandra Kirby on May 3, 1986, in Hobbs. He retired from the Hobbs Fire Department as chief after serving 12 years. Before moving to Hobbs, he served the Portales Fire Department for eight years, including a stint as fire chief.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Tyler, of Hobbs; a daughter, Kaitlin, of Hobbs; two brothers, Steve Gray of Dallas and Mark Gray of Logan; and two sisters, Kathy Combs and Jokelly Herbert, both of Portales.
The Rev. Todd Dyess will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Prairie Haven Memorial Park in Hobbs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Way.
Griffin Funeral Home of Hobbs is handling arrangements.

Adelaide Gregory
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Adelaide Dorcas Self Gregory, 89, of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 4, 2004, in Albuquerque.
She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Tupelo, Okla., to Ross and Sabra Self.
Mrs. Gregory graduated from Quitiquae High School in Quitiquae, Texas, and went on to receive a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas Tech University. She taught English in public schools for 45 years, the last 25 at Portales Junior High School. She loved her students and strove to always guide them toward happy and productive lives. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Portales. Possessed of tremendous energy, she gave unselfishly to family, friends and the Portales community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Virgil Gregory; two sisters, Rugh Payte and Hazel Self of Lubbock; and three brothers, R.E. Self of Elida, Vaughter Self of Silverton, Texas, and Boyd Self of Alamosa, Colo.
She is survived by four children, John Gregory of Salmon, Idaho, David Gregory (and wife, Allison) of Santa Fe, Susan Gardenhire (and husband, Gene) of Albuquerque and Sinda McCaffery (Larry) of Borrego Springs, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Rhonda DeHaan, Laura Gregory, Stacey Walker, Tiffany Andre, Mark Ross Urton, Rebecca Furguson and Kyle Hahn; two daughters-in-law, Rita Gregory and Valeria Allen; two sisters-in-law, Dollie Self of Elida and Audrey Gregory of Oklahoma City; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be John Gregory, David Gregory, Mark Urton, Gene Gardenhire, Larry McCaffery, Guy Strunk, James Derrill Cody, Matt Ferguson and John Gentry.
Honorary pallbearers are Ocie DeHaan, Joel Ferguson, Dave DeHaan, John Walker, Tim Andre, Joe Ross Self and Joe Alan Self.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.

Imogene Grider
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Imogene Grider, 76, of Clovis, a telephone operator, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born on July 20, 1926, in Reed, Okla.
She graduated from Floyd High School in 1943 and then married Glen Grider on Nov. 18, 1943. They moved to Sierra County in March of 1946 to establish a farm on the Animas Creek. They moved to Truth or Consequences until 1998. She was of the Baptist faith. Family members said she enjoyed quilting.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon F. Boyd; her husband; and a son, James E. Grider.
She is survived by her mother, Harvie Saxton of Portales; two sisters, Geraldine Burch (and husband, Leroy) and Lavern Russell (and husband, Jim), all of Portales; a daughter, Donna Zortman (and husband, Dave) of Bluewater; a son, Gary Grider (and wife, Sharon) of Clovis; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Vista Memory Gardens in Truth or Consequences.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, N. Canton, Ohio 44720.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Daniel Griego
Services: Have been held.
Daniel D. “Chief” Griego, 58, of Santa Rosa, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at his home.
He was born on May 10, 1946, in Santa Rosa, to Felix P. and Amalia Duran Griego.
He got into the newspaper business and spanned his career for over 27 years. He was the sports editor for the Santa Rosa Digest, the Guadalupe Communicator and was recently working for the Santa Rosa News where he recently won the E.H. Shaffer Award from the New Mexico Press Association for the weekly newspaper class II General News Photo.
Survivors include a brother, Arturo Griego (and wife, Terry) of Santa Rosa; five sisters, Herlinda Talbott (Louie) of Ohio, Lydia Martinez and Ida Lopez, both of Santa Rosa, Clorie Gallegos (Steve) of Puerto De Luna, and Nancy Gant of Albuquerque; and a very special niece, Olga Muniz (Joey) of Santa Rosa.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa.
Father Nick Nichols will officiate the services.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.

Josefita “FeFa” Griego
Services: Have been held.
Josefita “FeFa” Griego, 83, of Clovis died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at her home.
She was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Albuquerque to Margarito Estella Gallegos.
She came to Clovis in 1932 and married Pedro Griego on Aug. 3, 1936, in Clovis. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Margarito Griego; a daughter, Frances Griego; a grandson, Anthony Lunjan; a granddaughter, Emilia Griego; a daughter-in-law, Ernestina Griego; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Lydia Ulibarri of Clovis; seven sons, Ciprians Griego of Ruidoso, Nick Griego, Secundino Griego, Daniel Griego, J.T. Griego, Andrew Griego, and Gabriel Tapia, all of Clovis; a sister, Erlanda Chavez of Clovis; a brother, Vincent Gallegos of Clovis; 42 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Rev. Sotero Sena will officiate services.
Pallbearers will be Jesus Griego, Martin Griego, Benjamin Griego, Rueben Ullibarri, Daniel Tapia, and Santiago Griego.
Arrangements are provided by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Max Griego Jr.
Services: have been held.
Max Griego Jr., 67, of Pueblo, Colo., died Saturday, April 24, 2004.
He was born on April 11, 1937, in New Mexico, to Max and Patricia Griego.
He retired from the Labor 578 Union. He was an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Griego; children, Roy, Gina and Angel Griego and Maryann Martinez (and husband, Paul); 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters, Juanita Aragon, Dolores Gonzales (Arturo) and Viola Fischer (Clarence); and numerous nephews and nieces.
Arrangements were by Romero Family Funeral Home of Pueblo.

Calvin D. Griffin Jr.
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Calvin D. Griffin Jr., 19, of Portales, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1984, in Montebello, Calif., to Raquel Soto and Calvin D. Griffin.
He lived in Alhambra, Calif., until 1990, when they moved to Tujunga, Calif. He attended school there until 1996 when his parents moved to Chama, to remove the children from the big city of Los Angeles. After a year they moved to Portales where he graduated from Portales High School in 2003. He was a linebacker on the football team and played baseball. After high school he attended a semester at Eastern New Mexico University, where he was also a member of the football team. Family members said he was a very social young man who had many friends and enjoyed collecting stamps and baseball cards. He was a member of Faith Christian Family Church in Clovis.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Mark Worten.
Survivors include his his mother, Raquel Worten of Portales; his father and step-mother, Calvin and Genise Griffin of Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Aaron Worten of Portales, and David and Demetri Griffin, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Evelyn Griffin of Las Vegas, Nev., and Lela Griffin of North Carolina; his grandparents, Virginia and Don Worten of Lubbock, Nestor Soto of Tujunga, Josephine Soto of Alhambra, Calif. and A.C. and Evelyn Griffin of Hobgood, N.C.
The Rev. David Swann will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Nestor Soto Jr., Aaron Worten, Leo Jimenez and other family members.
Honorary pallbearers are Francisco Chairez, Alonzo Jimenez, Eric Gallegos, Cabriel Ortega, Chris Jones, coach Glen Johnson and members of the Portales High football team.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Isabel Guerra
Services: Have been held.
Ms. Isabel Guerra, 41, of Portales, died July 30, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis
She was born May 13, 1962, in Silver City, to Pasquala and Melquiades Guerra.
She attended school in Anthony, and then lived in Arizona for several years, where she worked in child care. She moved to Portales in the early 1980s. She was a member of the Church of God of the Firstborn, where she was an active member. Family members said her hobbies included cooking, dancing and camping.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gilbert; and two sisters, Albina Montes and Nora Galban.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Fred Romero of Portales; two sisters, Esther Calderon and Joe Clorinda Guerra, both of Phoenix; four brothers, Jimmy and Henry Guerra, both of Silver City, and Rito and Mike Guerra, both of Phoenix.
A wake service will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Church of God of the Firstborn in Portales.
The Rev. Raymond Mendoza will officiate funeral services.
Burial will be in Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Reuben Galban, Gary Romero, Louie Montes, Edward Montes, Joe Guerra and Henry Guerra.
Honorary bearers will be all family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, New Mexico Area, 525 San Pedro NE, Suite 101, Albuquerque, NM 87108.

Susie Guilliums
Services: Have been held.
Ms. Susie Guilliams, 98, of Fort Sumner, a business owner, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 5, 1905, in Bonham, Texas, to John Davis and Nanny Morris.
She moved with her family to Tolar in 1906. She operated a trucking firm for 17 years prior to purchasing Sue’s Cafe, which she operated from 1942 to 1994. She was a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jess Guilliams; two sisters, Lela Mae Cook and Christine Simmons; and five brothers, Jerry, Hubert, Curtis, Clifford and Jack Davis.
She is survived by a daughter, Merlene Hill (and husband, William) of Clovis; two daughters-in-law, Phyllis Dean of Kansas City, Mo., and Jan Guilliams of Holt, Mo.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180, Fort Sumner, NM.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.

Edna Guthrie
Services: Have been held
Mrs. Edna C. Guthrie, 90, of Fort Towson, Okla., died Sunday, June 29, 2003, in Hugo, Okla.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1912, in Penn, N.D., to Simon and Margaret Kircher Stoeser.
She married Ora L. Guthrie on Sept. 8, 1937, in Leeds, N.D. She was a resident of Clovis before moving to Hugo, Okla., 42 years ago. She was a member of the Catholic faith. She taught school and drove a school bus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Glen Guthrie of Hugo, Okla.; two daughters, Diane Heddlesten and Dena Kos-Hunter, both of Hugo, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Bob Thornburgh officiated the services.
Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Okla.
Arrangements were by Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo, Okla.

Juanita Gutierrez
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Juanita P. Gutierrez, 95, Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.
She was born June 28, 1908, in Tigere, to Virginia and Francisquito Casaus.
She spent her early life in Puerta de Luna and Fort Sumner. On Aug. 29, 1936, she married Matias Gutierrez in Santa Rosa. They made their home in Puerta de Luna until 1945, when they moved to Fort Sumner. In 1955, the family moved to Portales. She worked as a housekeeper and did ironing, but once her children were born, she was a full-time mom. Family members said she was a generous and giving lady. For the past 10 years she had been a resident of the local rest home. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Justo and Santiago Casaus; three sisters, Anita Gonzales, Josephita Gonzales and Virginia Salazar; a son-in-law, Joe F. Pena; a grandson; and by her husband.
Survivors include four sons, Magin (and wife, Marie) Gutierrez of Portales, Morris (and wife, Arcelia) Gutierrez of Clovis, Adam (and wife, Dolores) Gutierrez of Portales and Juan (and wife, Priscilla) Casaus of Albuquerque; three daughters, Helen Pena of Albuquerque, Irene Montano of Portales and Dora (and husband, Joe) Sanchez of Portales; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ignacita Gonzales of Albuquerque
The rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Monday at St. Helen Catholic Church.
Father Tobin Hitt will officiate the services.
Burial will be in Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Gutierrez, Michael Gutierrez, Larry Gutierrez, Rudy Pena, Henry Montano, Bernice Vargas, Angela Arguello and Herman Gutierrez.
Wheeler Mortuary of Portales is handling arrangements.

Joe Guzman
Mr. Joe Guzman, 55, of Sandia, Texas, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1947, in Mathis, Texas.
He lived in Sandia for the past five years and was the owner of American Concrete and Stucco.
He is survived by his wife, Ofelia Guzman of Sandia; six daughters, Christy Romo of Los Angeles, Michelle Perez of San Antonio, Jennifer Casarez, Deidra Guzman and Valerie Guzman, all of Clovis and Natalia Ortiz of Sandia, Texas; two sons, Dr. Benny Joe Guzman of Chino Hills, Calif. and Isaiah Guzman of Sandia, Texas; five sisters, Armandina Guzman of Wachulla, Fla., Gloria Guzman of Wimberly, Texas, Irma Gonzalez of Newton, Kan., and Diane Alaniz and Sandra Kennell, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; three brothers, Armando Guzman of Sandia, Texas, Daniel Guzman of Atlanta, Ga. and Erasmo Guzman of Fresno, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
Burial was at Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis, Texas.
Arrangements were by Dobie Funeral Home of Mathis, Texas.
