Mr. Ivan L. Blenkin, 64, of Farwell, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Farwell Convalescent Center.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1939, in Wynona, Mo.
He joined the Air Force in 1955. He retired at Cannon Air Force Base as a Master Sergeant in 1979. He worked as a mechanic for a construction company.
He is survived by his father, Robert Blenkin of Eufaula, Okla.; his mother, Josie Lee of Wynona, Mo.; a brother, Charles Blenkin; two sisters, Susan Tutton of Tulsa, Okla., and Patricia Kazouini of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a dear friend, Richard Conklin of Clovis.
He donated his body to Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.
William Block

Mr. William Arthur “Bill” Block, 86, of Portales, died April 11, 2003, at a Temple, Texas, hospital.
He was born on June 25, 1916, in at Gotebo, Okla., to Abraham and Agnes Martens Block.
He married M. Lavada Mitchell on Dec. 28, 1935, in Hobart, Okla. He farmed his father’s homestead until 1947, when he moved to Bethel. He retired after many years of service for the Santa Fe Railway. He loved boating, fishing and entertaining his friends and family with tunes that he played on his harmonica that was always in his pocket.
He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Rudolph, Samuel and Walter; and a grandchild, Bucky Block.
He is survived by three children, Dr. Burel Block (and wife, Patsy) of Brownsville, Texas, Larry Block (and wife, Freda) of Belton, Texas, and Carol Curtis (and husband, Montford) of Orange, Calif.; six grandchildren, Dr. Steven Block of Lubbock, Starla Immak of Sanders, Ariz., Lonny Block of Boise, Idaho, Pamela Ek of Placentia, Calif., M. Craig Curtis of Poway, Calif., and Scott Curtis of San Diego; four great-grandsons; and six great-granddaughters.

John Bogey

Mr. John Lewis Bogey, 75, of Melrose, a retired civil service mechanic, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on May 22, 1928, in Shaddock, Okla., to Howard and Melva Bogey. He was a longtime resident of Curry County. He married Oleta Hanks on Aug. 25, 1975, in Melrose. He worked as a mechanic for civil service at Cannon Air Force Base for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He also did maintenance for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway for 12 years. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and helping friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one stepson.
Survivors include his wife, Oleta, of the home in Melrose; three daughters, Patricia Wilson and Elsie Smith, both of Melrose, and Marilyn (and husband Sonny) McCoy of Portales; one brother, Emory Bogey of Bellflower, Calif.; two granddaughters, Danyell Wilson and Kimberlee Smith, both of Melrose; one grandson, Jonathan (and wife Carol) Wilson of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Larry Franklin of Plainview, Texas.
Durward Wofford and Danny Sanders will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ray Hester, Steve Scott, Carl Lightle, Johnny Beevers, Jerry Jacobs and Deon Dodd.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jamie Felberg, Darrell Mitchell, Gordon Morris, Doyle Christesson and Chuck Wood.

Oleta P. Boone

Oleta P. Boone, 83, of Clovis, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1920, in Farwell, to Chesley and Ellen Crow.
She has been a lifelong resident of Clovis.
She was a lifetime hospital volunteer and served over 20 years with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, accruing more than 3,000 hours of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lois Young, Nell Donelson and Belva Ford; and a brother, Lewis Crow.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Boone of Clovis; a son, Dudley Boone (and wife, Valarie) of Fayetteville, Ga.; a daughter, Betty Wolfe (Skip) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Lisa, Jason and Katie Wolfe and Christian and Allison Boone; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Van McCormick will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Texico Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Roger Hatcher, D.D. Hatcher, Swede Johnson, Bob Lynch, Hal Widner and Brian Boone.

Cleo Boren

Mrs. Cleo W. Boren, 85, of Clovis, a clerk, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born April 2, 1918, in Childress, Texas, to John E. and Eva Gibbs Williams.
She married James H. Boren May 12, 1939 in Fort Sumner. She had been a resident of Clovis since 1964. She worked for Medical Center Pharmacy and at Hotel Clovis. Family members said she loved traveling, playing cards, camping and dancing.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Hurn and Janis Dawson, both of Clovis; a sister, Oleta Richburg of Clovis; a brother, John Williams of Clovis; six grandchildren, Cara Benson, Frank Benson, Kelly Flowers, Jerry Hurn, Lisa Miller and Richard Boone; and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 1320 Sheldon.

Lillie Bourne

Mrs. Lillie Estell Bourne, 90, of Durant, Okla., a retired school cook, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Durant.
She was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Cooper, Okla., to William Jasper and Mellie Lytle Jameson.
She was a former resident of Clovis. She married Woodrow Wilson Bourne on Aug. 31, 1935, in Durant. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Family members said she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Hershell Ray Bourne; four brothers, Clyde, Vernon, Jasper and W.J. Jameson; and three sisters, Violet Kennedy, Maggie Jewell Bourne and Rosanell Miller.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Billy Wayne Bourne (and wife, Glenna) of Topeka, Kan., and Donald Wilson Bourne (and wife, Juanita) of Durant; a daughter, Evelyn Joyce Estell Wilkins (and husband, John) of Mineral Wells, Texas; a brother, Dewey Preston “Ted” Jameson of Las Cruces; a brother-in-law, James Bourne (and wife, Marie) of Durant; two sisters-in-law, Rosalee Bourne and Dorotha Vails, both of Durant; seven grandchildren, David Wilkins and Shari Dalton, both of Mineral Wells, Bryan Bourne of Liberty Township, Ohio, Craig Bourne of Austin, Texas, Jerry Bourne of Pontotoc, Miss., Keith Bourne of Topeka and Curt Bourne of Houston; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The Revs. David Wilkins and Anthony Williams will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla.

Houston Bradberry

Houston Bradberry, 65, of Portales died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
He was born Sept. 18, 1938, in Arp, Texas, to Elfreda “Peaches” and Seibert Bradberry.
Mr. Bradberry grew up in east Texas. For the majority of his life he lived in the Kilgore area where he worked in the oil fields. In about 1990 he moved to Portales to be near his mother. He had been in failing health for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert McClellan, who died in 1985.
Survivors include his life partner, Julie Webb of Portales; two sons and daughters-in-law, Houston Shane and Tammy Bradberry of Omaha, Neb., and Toby D. and Marnie Bradberry of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren, Taylor Bradberry, Cameron Bradberry and Shane Bradberry.
Scott Reeves and Toby Bradberry will officiate at the services. All friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Helen M. Brandon

Mrs. Helen M. Brandon, 92, of Clovis, a homemaker, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Laurel Plains Healthcare in Clovis.
She was born on March 1, 1911, in Rogers, to James S. and Molly Alice Willis Fraser.
She attended school in Rogers, later moving to Amarillo. She married Merlin W. Brandon on Dec. 24, 1927, in Amarillo. They moved to New Mexico where they farmed the old home place. Family members said she worked at all the theaters in Clovis and drove a school bus in Curry County for 40 years without an accident. She was a member of Forrest Heights Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school since she was 20.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Atha Howe, Mary Reed and Margorie Thomas; and a brother, James W. Fraser.
Survivors include three daughters, Naomi Williams (and husband, James) of Clovis, Merline Cook (Glenn) of Roswell and Jimmy Nell White (Joe) of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Tony Reynolds will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Wallace Fraser, Paul and Weldon Reed, Donald Ray Lewis, Bill Hodges and La Von Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Ray Williams and Roger Cook.

Harold Brasell
Services: Have been held.
Dr. Harold K. Brasell, 81, of Portales, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at his home.
He was born on March 1, 1922, in Fort Sumner, to Dora and Dr. Hugh T. Brasell.
He grew up in Portales where his father was local physician and surgeon. He was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and was also a charter member of Portales Chapter Order of DeMolay. He graduated from Portales High School in 1940. He entered the Marines on Oct. 20, 1942, and sailed for the south Pacific. He fought at Iwo Jima and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, family members said. He was a pharmacist’s mate during the war.
After the war he returned to Portales and married Edna Brown. He attended Eastern New Mexico College in Portales and later earned a doctorate in psychology. He taught at the University of Denver, University of Arizona, Arizona State and Eastern New Mexico University. He spent a lifetime teaching teachers how to teach the mentally handicapped for which he received a Presidential Commendation for pioneering teaching techniques, family members said.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a son, Hugh Brasell (and wife, Lisa) of Taos; two daughters, Sherrie Brasell of Tucson, Ariz. and Meriam Brasell of Laguna Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren, Malisa and Taylor Brasell and Clay Cosby; and two half-sisters, Thalia and Cheryl.
Riley Loomis will officiate the services.
Following the service a time of remembrance and fellowship will be held in the back yard of Dr. Brasell’s residence.

BILLIE BRIAN

Minnie Bell “Billie” Brian, 87, of Clovis, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Laurel Plains Nursing and Rehabilitation in Clovis.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1916, in Kenefic, Okla. to Elie and Siney Anderson Washington.
She came to Clovis in 1987. She worked for Howard Hughes, Hughes Aircraft as an administrative assistant and director for classified information. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Flippo; and a brother, Fred Washington.
She is survived by two brothers, Lawrence Washington of Bonham, Texas, and Harry Lee Washington of Topeka, Kan.; two nieces, Cleta Bridges of Clovis, and Billie Hurruff of Dalhart, Texas; and a nephew, Clyde Gudgle of Durant, Okla.
Cremation has taken place.

Myrtle Mae Breuning

Myrtle Mae Breuning, 90, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1913, in Bellview to Alphus “Alf” Monroe and Mattie Ann Stafford Mitchell.
She was raised in and graduated from high school in Bellview. After graduation she attended Highlands Normal. She intended to major in music. She married Carl G. Breuning on June 12, 1932. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother until 1957, when she was employed as a clerk for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway System for 23 years. She retired in 1970. Family members said she loved to garden and travel after retirement, collect coins and watch baseball and football. She was of the Episcopal faith.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Albert, Leonard, Virginia and Bill.
Survivors include a son, Carl Breuning Jr. (and wife, Phyllis) of Calhan, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Maurine Mitchell of Portales and Bobbie Mitchell of Riverside, Calif.; a brother-in-law: Ralph Burnett of Grady; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
The Rev. Richard Reed will officiate the services in Las Vegas, N.M.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories Cemetery in Clovis.
Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews, Mahota Ann Ritchey, Betty Jo Hargrove, Martha O’Rear, J.R. Burnett, Helen Meagher, Leonard Jr., George and Bill Mitchell and Debbie Dunford.

Milton Bridges

Milton Doane Bridges, 73, of Georgetown, Texas, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003.
He was born on June 24, 1930, in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, to Dr. Milton Arlanden and Marie Troutwine Bridges.
He lived in New York City until 1939 when he moved to Houston after his father died. He lived in Houston until he joined the Army. He spent his adult years in the Army and in civil service as a personnel director and requirements analyst. He spent seven years at the Manpower and Personnel Center at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio. He helped develop the military and civilian personnel data systems. He retired in 1980. His lifetime love of the beach took him to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., where he managed the Emerald Lounge, retiring again in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mary M. Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Sue Taylor Bridges of Georgetown, Texas; four daughters, DyAnna Robinson (and husband, Russell), Mary Lee Roberts, Doane Marie Bridges and Kimberley Bridges Booth; a granddaughter, Amy Sue Davis (Darrin); three grandsons, Sean and Jared Lambert and Rustin Robinson; a great-granddaughter, Devynn Davis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe and Nancy Taylor of Clovis, Jerry and Marilyn Mozer of Alamogordo and George and Diana Taylor of San Jose, Calif.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. (CDT) Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown, Texas.

Jesse Brizendine

Mr. Jesse Brizendine, 90, of Clovis, died Oct. 27, 2003, at All Care Assisted Living in Clovis.
He was born on June 23, 1913, in Clovis, to Barnie and Eula Edwards Brizendine. He was raised and married in Clovis before moving west to Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Bakersfield, Calif., but moved back to Clovis many years ago to care for his blind brother Edward. He was a retired auto parts and tools worker and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Milton Brizendine; and a sister, Pauline Brizendine-Burns.
Survivors include a son, George (and wife, Annette) Brizendine of Las Vegas, Nev.; a step-sister, Ruth Owens of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kevin Brizendine of Reno, Nev., and Della Monagle of Franklin City, N.J.; and three great-grandsons, Richard, Paul and Jeffery Brizendine of Reno.
The service will be officiated by Rev. Rick Jones. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories.

Inez M. Brockman-Graham

Inez M. Brockman-Graham, 79, of Fort Sumner, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Lincoln County, Okla., to James Cunningham and Mamie Thacker.
She married William E. Brockman on April 3, 1942. They made their home in California for many years where Bill worked as an electrician. They moved to Fort Sumner in 1975. She was a member of the Church On The Hill in Fort Sumner. She married Walter R. Graham on April 12, 1997, in Fort Sumner.
She was preceded in death by her father and her first husband, William E. Brockman, who died March 11, 1987.
Survivors include her husband, Walter R. Graham of Fort Sumner; her mother, Mamie Cunningham of Fort Sumner; a daughter, Linda Brockman; four sons Jim Brockman, Joe Brockman, Mike Brockman and Ed Brockman, all of California; and one sister, Maxine Mayhon of Clovis.
The Rev. Anna Teeter will officiate the services.

Beth Broome

Mrs. Beth N. Broome, 80, of Clovis, a retired teacher, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Glenville, Ga., to Lee Roy and Mary Harvey Nelson.
She married Frank Broome Dec. 24, 1942, in Rossville, Ga. She taught second grade at Sandia Elementary from 1962–1987. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Clovis and the Plains Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Family members said she loved to drink coffee with friends and to root for the Atlanta Braves.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Katherine Brown; and two brothers, Merrill and Bill Nelson.
She is survived by three sons, Joe Broome (and wife, Dee) of Dallas, Jim Broome (and wife, Trudy) of Mountainair and Karl Broome of Houston; a daughter, Marilyn Killough (and husband, Weldon) of Clovis; six grandchildren, Kara Hyde of Los Angeles, Jay Killough of Lubbock, Paul and Holly Broome, both of Dallas, and Brande and Jake Broome, both of Mountainair.
The Rev. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren Paul, Holly, Brande and Jake Broome, Kara Hyde and Jay Killough.
