KENNETH NORTON

Kenneth A. Norton, 64, of Clovis, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Steed-Todd Chapel. The Rev. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at 2712 Sheldon St.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home.

Charles Bradley, 63

Charles D. "Chuck" Bradley, 63, of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in his home.

Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Joseph Vest officiating. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Clovis.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Glen Crane

Glen W. Crane of Alto died June 5, 2002, in Ruidoso.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Jim Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso is handling arrangements.

Opal Daley, 98

Opal Daley, 98, of Clovis, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at her home.

There will be a celebration of her life in her home at 1340 Stratford Lane, from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Fairmont Cemetery in Raton. Cremation has taken place.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Jerry Dennis, 71

Jerry Dennis, 71, of Pampa, died Friday, May 31, 2002, in Amarillo.

Services were at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel. Rev. Fred Palmer of Carpenter's Church officiated. Burial was at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Gladys Tomerlin, 101

Gladys Margaret Casto Tomerlin, 101, of Clovis, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.

Fern Holt, 68

Fern Holt, 68, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church. The Revs. Kenneth Dunsworth and Joe Riley will officiate. Burial will follow at Morton Cemetery in Morton, Texas.

Wheeler Mortuary of Portales is handling arrangements.

Louis Arguijo, 64

Louis Arguijo, 64, of Clovis, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

Services are 10 a.m.(CDT) Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dimmitt, Texas.

Arrangements are by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home in Dimmitt.

Earl Monroe, 84

Mr. Earl Monroe, 84, of Clovis, a cowboy, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis.

Robert Larson, 72

Robert H. "Bob" Larson, 72, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clovis.

Arrangements are by White Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Andres Leal Sr., 87

Mr Andres Leal Sr., 87, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

Services are 10 a.m. (CDT) Saturday in Rose Chapel at Gililland Watson Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas.

Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home in Hereford.

Bessie Hutchins, 80

Mrs. Bessie Hutchins, 80, of Broadview, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis

Felix Silva, 61

Mr. Felix J. Silva, 61, of Portales, a mechanic, died Dec. 3, 2002, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.

Mrs. Barbara "Bobbi" Windle, 59, of Clovis, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

Mac Eichenberger, 63

Mr. Mac Eichenberger, 63, of Clovis, died April 4, 2003, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kingswood United Methodist Church in Clovis.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Marie Kear, 88

Mrs. Marie Inez Kear, 88, of Oklahoma City, died Friday, April 4, 2003, in Oklahoma City.

Services have been held.

Valda Skeen
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.
Mrs. Valda Lea Skeen, 91, of Bovina, a seamstress, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at the Muleshoe Area Medical Center.
She was born on March 17, 1912, in Hedley, Texas, to Henry and Leah Grant Forgerson.
She moved from Texas to Texico where she attended school. She married William Clay Skeen and moved to Clovis. She later moved to Bovina to be with her daughter after her husband’s death. She was a member Church of the Brethren in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Clarence and Herbert; and a sister, Beatrice.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie Ward of Bovina; a sister, Lucille Feigenshuh of Pico Rivera, Calif.; a granddaughter, Kay Smyth of Olton, Texas; two grandsons, Jerry and Ronnie Ward, both of Clovis; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Mary Tate
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Mrs. Mary Opal Tate, 93, of Broadview, a retired school teacher, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1909, in Bellview, to James and Lida Bell Shaddix Miller.
She attended school in the Bellview and Hollene area and West Texas Teachers College in Canyon, Texas. She married Wayne Tate on April 3, 1931. They lived in Clovis before World War II. She worked as a welder at the Calship shipyard in Los Angeles during the war. They moved to Broadview in 1946 and operated Tate’s Mercantile until they both entered nursing homes. She was a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church and Rebekah’s Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Nellie Elenor Rhea; a son, Wayne Dean Tate; three daughters, Jane and Joan Tate and Lida "Suzy" Corrine Harrison; and two brothers, Jordan Miller and James “J.M.” Miller.
She is survived by her grandson, David Harrison of Broadview; her niece and caretaker, Carolyn Tate Harris; nephews, Joe and Jimmy Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews
Gary Ford will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Stephen Haynes, Plains Regional Medical Center’s medical floor staff and the Adobe Junction staff at Retirement Ranch.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Maxine Hobbs, 82
Maxine “Mrs. Homer” Hobbs, 82, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at her home in Portales.
Services are pending and will be announced by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Jimmie Allison, 66
Jimmie B. Allison, 66, of Cherry Valley, Calif., died Saturday, May 24, 2003.
He was born on March 1, 1937, in Dalhart, Texas, to Robert Francis and Edith T. Phillips Allison.
He was a piledriving foreman for 30 years. He worked for ARB Construction.
Survivors include a son, James Brent Allison of Potlatch, Idaho; a sister, Linda Ekhard of Lakewood, Colo; two brothers, Ralph Allison of Portales and Robert E. Allison of Pomona, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Weaver Mortuary Inc. of Beaumont, Calif., is handling arrangements.

Ruth Crume, 89
Ruth Crume, 89, of Portales, an Elida school teacher, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born on Dec. 10, 1913, in Mullen, Texas, to Bamma and the Rev. R.W. Bynum.
She was raised in central and east Texas. She graduated from high school in Avery, Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She taught school at DeKalb, Texas, for four years, Portales for four years and then in Elida for 30 years. She married W.J. “Bill” Crume on Dec. 27, 1940, in Gatesville, Texas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Portales Woman’s Club, Rebekah Lodge, Retired Teachers Association and AARP.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harmon, Natt and Newman Bynum; two sisters, Etta Crempin and Verba Harris; two nieces; five nephews; and her husband.
Survivors include a stepson, Jim Meadows of Albuquerque; a sister, Vida Grimshaw of Clovis; and five step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. The Revs. Garrett Grimshaw and Steve Smith will officiate.
Burial will be at Elida Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Anthony, Fred Anthony, Jake Howard, Luke Nichols, Jimmy Dale Ward and Mike Barnard.
Honorary bearers will be her former students.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
Wheeler Mortuary of Portales is handling arrangements.

Joe Melendez, 78
Mr. Joe Melendez, 78, of Santa Barbara County, Calif., died Wednesday, May 21, 2003.
He was born on April 26, 1925, in Roswell, to Eduardo and Urbana Juarez Melendez.
He was educated in Roswell Public Schools, Eastern New Mexico University and University of New Mexico, earning a bachelor of science degree in geology in 1952. He was employed by Western Geophysical Company and Delco Electronics, from which he retired in 1982. During World War II he served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo Gray; four children, Paul, Marc, Carla and Chuck; four brothers, Ishmael, Fil and Eddie, all of New Mexico and Manuel of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Grace and Ruth, both of New Mexico; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Services have been held. Arrangements were by Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapels of Santa Barbara, Calif.
