Ethan Joseph Sullivan, 4, our little guitar hero, went to teach the angels to dance Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008.
He is survived by his loving family: parents, Heather and Luke Sullivan; siblings, Austin Haun, Alexia Baca and Gabriel Sullivan of Aztec; aunts and uncles, David and Lany Cupps of Flora Vista, Robyn and Adam Tachell of Burley, Idaho, Kendy and Jamey Head of Farmington, Joshua Horrocks of Mancos, Colo., and Packy and Pam Sullivan of Forest, Miss. Ethan also will be sorely missed by maternal grandparents, Dave and DeeDee Cupps and Linda Scribner of Aztec; paternal grandmother, Doris Sullivan of Raleigh, Miss.; cousins, Brendan, Cameron, and Aspen Tachell of Burley, and Daisy and Delina Head of Farmington; and numerous other members of his extended family.
Ethan was a vibrant little man who touched all of our lives with his humor and energy. He loved superheroes and video games. We will miss him always, and forever be grateful for the brief time with him that we were given.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Aztec.

Mary Silversmith, 78, of Nenahnezad, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2008, in Nenahnezad. She was born May 5, 1931, in the Chaco Canyon area, to George and Glih-yah-nih-bah Silversmith.
She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Lorina Silversmith; niece, Marylouise Dodge; and a sister, Elsie Dodge.

Daniel Lee Schoen

Daniel Lee Schoen, 32, of Navarre, Fla., passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008. Daniel is the son of Shari Martinez and the late Dennis Martinez of Aztec. He was born July 16, 1976, in Durango, Colo.
Daniel, also known as Dano or Big Dan to his friends, graduated from Aztec High School in Aztec in 1995. He then joined the United States Air Force and was most recently stationed at Hurlburt field with the 4th AMU as a Technical Sergeant.
Daniel married Erin Schoen in May of 2006. She passed away Monday, Sept. 1, shortly after Daniel, due to injuries from the same accident near their home.
Survivors include daughters, Joanna and Julie of Arizona; sons, Brian and Dimitri of Florida; his mother, Shari; brothers, Rick and Albert; sisters, Teresa and Rachel of New Mexico and countless friends around the U.S.A.
Daniel enjoyed many things in life including Harley rides down the Florida coastline, jet skiing, traveling, off-road driving in his Jeep and most of all bodybuilding. Daniel held many titles over the years in competitions, the most recent being Southern Nationals Champion. Daniel was preparing to get his pro license and was scheduled to compete next month.
If you were ever to ask Daniel where his passion for life came from he would tell you family and friends. Daniel was the kindest, gentlest man ever known. He knew no enemy except at war. Daniel genuinely cared for every person he knew and made it a point to shake hands when meeting and parting company. If you were close friends or family you were sure to get a bear hug not to be forgotten. Daniel will be missed by all he knew.
A memorial gathering will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Aztec VFW Post No. 614, 201 S. Park Ave., in Aztec.

Miguel 'Mike' Jaquez

Miguel "Mike" Jaquez, 90, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in Farmington. He was born March 18, 1918, in Gallina to Carmen and Amelia Jaquez.
Mike was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific in WWII as a rifleman, achieving the rank of corporal. He received a presidential citation, a good conduct ribbon, American defense ribbon, victory ribbon, Philippine liberation ribbon with one Bronze Star, Asian Pacific Theater ribbon, Bronze Campaign Star and Purple Heart.
Mike loved nature and animals. He was a member of the NRA, the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Jaquez; son, Michael Jaquez; and daughter, Gloria Day and husband, Lynn. He is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Hatley, Kelly Howell and husband, Jeremy, and Jessica Day and fiance, Dustin Noyes; by great-grandchildren, Zacary and Brandon Howell; and by sisters, Josie Vigil and Delmedia Velasquez.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 5, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington.
A celebration of Mike's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at World Harvest Center, 1024 N. Butler Ave., in Farmington. Pastor Rick Rivera will officiate.
Mike will be laid to rest with full military honors by the honor guard of VFW Post No. 2182 of Farmington at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St., in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Dustin Noyes, Lynn Day, Michael Hatley, Max Maestas, Tommy Montoya, Joe Jaquez and David Velasquez.
Honorary pallbearers are Rick Rivera, Michael Jaquez and all Mike's nephews.

James Ezonnie Pelt, 69, of Mexican Water, Ariz., passed from this life Wednesday, Sept 3, 2008, in Bluff, Utah. He was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Dennehotso, Ariz.
He was preceded in death in 1994 by his wife, Mary Pelt.
He had five daughters, Virginia Yazzie, Priscilla Nelson, Eva John, Jenny Yellowman and Cecelia Tallman; three sons, Stanley Pelt, Steven Pelt and Daniel Pelt; 30 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was a well-known medicine man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
We will miss him and he will be in our hearts forever.
Graveside services and interment will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Blanding City Cemetery in Blanding, Utah.

Darrell Curt Sims, 40, of Fruitland passed away after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 21, 1967, in Farmington, to Joe Sims Sr. and Ida Mae Sims.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Joe Sims Sr.; brothers, Joe Sims Jr., Rufus Sims and Fernando Sims; and sister, Debbie Sims Bitsilly.
He is survived by his son, Derrick A. Sims; daughter, Melanie L. Sims; mother, Ida Mae Sims; sister, Maxine John and husband, Harry, Carol Pettigrew and husband, Raymond, Jennifer Sims, Sharon Bitsilly and husband, Bobby, and Corine Sims; brothers, Terry Sims and Nathaniel Sims and wife, Sophina; and numerous nieces, nephews and foster grandkids.
Darrell was a veteran. He served in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1992, five years and seven months. He served in Desert Storm and received numerous medals and awards. He worked in construction jobs in the Four corners area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with his family.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Calvary Apostolic Church, 405 E. Gladden Drive, in Farmington.

Sharon M. Weaver, 60, died suddenly Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at her home in Farmington. She was born May 8, 1948, in St. Cloud, Minn., to Adam O'Konek and Lorraine O'Konek.
Sharon graduated from Cooper High School in New Hope, Minn., in 1966.
Sharon lived in and around Minneapolis most of her life. She moved to Farmington in 2004, after making several visits and falling in love with the area. Sharon's passion was working on her doll house miniatures. She was an avid hobbyist, reader and collector. She was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren. Sharon also enjoyed her ladies' lunches with the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She will be greatly missed by those who survive her: sister, Myra Winn and husband, Tom, of Richfield, Minn.; her brother, Ron O'Konek and wife, Valerie, of Duluth, Minn.; her son, Scott Foss and wife, Marie, and their children, Hannah, Maya, Stina and Klara, of Minneapolis; her daughter, Erica Foss and her partner, John Kendall, of Aztec; her "grandson" Wade Badoni of Ignacio, Colo.; and numerous extended family members.
Sharon was compassionate and kind; she was generous of spirit and of self. She was a loving mom and faithful friend. She never gave up despite the difficulties she faced daily.
A memorial service will take place in Minneapolis.

William E. 'Woody' Woodall

William E. "Woody" Woodall, 92, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008. Woody was born August 16, 1916, in Blair, Okla.
He graduated from McAlester High School in McAlester, Okla., in 1934. Woody was proud to have served in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean War. He rose to the rank of corporal in his military intelligence unit. Woody moved to Farmington in 1951, at the start of the oil boom. There he began a lengthy career in the construction industry, working on numerous area projects including the first telephone building, the airport, the power plant, Navajo Dam, Farmington High School and San Juan College to name a few.
Woody was preceded in death by a son, Charles B. Woodall, and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ada; and three children, William E. "Bill" Woodall Jr. and wife, Denise, of Farmington, David B. Woodall and wife, Julie, of Benson, Ariz., and Vicki Lobato and husband, Alex, of Bloomfield. Woody is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel Woodall, William I. Woodall, Casey Woodall, Chelsea Woodall, V. Alex Lobato, Amanda Lobato, Kati Goldsmith and Heather Lloyd. He has five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Sept. 5, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home. Pastor David LeMonnier of Sunrise Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Rita Yeager, 51, passed from this life Sept. 2, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 19, 1957, in Cortez, Colo., to Alfred E. Smith and Hazel Baxstrom Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly Hunt; son-in-law, Tyler Hunt; one brother, Richard Smith and wife, Billie; four sisters, Patti Smith Russell and husband, Randy, Cheryl Moore, Gayle Huggins and Donna Smith, all of Farmington. Rita is also survived by nieces and nephews who were very special to her, and by a host of friends.
Rita will be remembered for her beautiful smile, for her bravery, for her stubborn determination and for her quick wit. Her unfailing sense of humor brought much laughter and lightened the hearts of many. Our family expresses our heartfelt thanks to the many wonderful people who supported and loved Rita and us through her illness.
While we will miss Rita greatly, we rejoice that she has found rest and even now is full of joy and peace in the presence of her heavenly Father.
