JOHN FRANCIS HUTT, 70, of Cañon died Thursday.
He was born in Philadelphia and was a veteran of the Korean War. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Penn State University. He was employed by the U.S. Forest Service and worked for the Carson, Santa Fe and Coconino Nation Forest of Flagstaff, Ariz. He also worked for Evergreen Lumber Co. in Chama. He was a substitute teacher for Taos Municipal Schools for 22 years. He was a religious education director for 10 years and RCIA director for two years. At the time of his death, he was president of the Cañon Water Users Association, mayordomo of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served as eucharistic minister and was on the finance committee.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Elena "Ellie" Hutt; and parents, George and Rose Hutt.
He is survived by his wife, Ambrosia "Ambie" Hutt; daughter, Anita Hutt and husband Jamie Archuleta; son, Anthony Joseph Hutt; two grandchildren; brothers, George Hutt and wife Janet of Holland, Pa., Joe Hutt of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sister, Sister Mary Denise of Immaculata, Pa.; and many other relatives.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the same church with burial to follow at Dolores Cemetery in Canon.

MARCELINA MARCIE "MAGGIE" MIER, 69, died Wednesday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louisa and Benito Chavez; sisters, Annie Chavez, Bernice Flores and Cecelia Montes; and brothers, Ben Chavez and Fred Chavez.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Mier; daughter, Bernadette E. Calderon and husband Rogelio Calderon; six grandchildren; sister, Helen Sanchez; brother, Nick Chavez; and many other relatives and friends.

BERNICE "BEA" H. SCHEER, 94, of Albuquerque died Thursday in Los Alamos.
She was born in Frazee, Minn., and was married in Kohler, Wis. She earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Iowa and was employed as a history teacher in Sheboygan, Wis. for 10 years. Her churches were a vital part of her life, and she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albuquerque and Los Alamos. She was an honorary life member of the American Association of University Women, where she served as president of the Albuquerque branch and the AAUW-New Mexico and coordinated local arrangements for the national AAUW convention held in Albuquerque in 1979. She was a member of the POE Sisterhood since 1960 and twice served Chapter AN as president. In past years, she was a very active member of the Daughters of the Nile, Yucca Temple. She was a Girl Scout trainer in the Chaparral Council for numerous years, a charter member of the Museum of Albuquerque and a New Mexico representative to the U.S. UNICEF committee for seven years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son, John; sister, Nelda; and brother, Oris.
She is survived by many relatives and friends.

MANUEL ENCINIAS, 106, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday at Northeastern Regional Hospital.
He worked in the Las Vegas, N.M. area with the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. He was an active foster grandparent member for over 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Acension and Emelia Encinias; first wife, Isabelita Gomez Encinias; second wife, Eumilia Encinias; sons, Delio Encinias, Labriano Encinias, Servando Encinias, and Fermin Encinias and wife Arabela; and daughters, Adelmida Encinias and Alice Santillanes.
He is survived by his daughters, Tillie Benavidez of Las Vegas, N.M. and Esther and Arecenio Lucero of Ojitos Frios; sons, Ascension Encinias and Alicia, Santiago Encinias, Narciso Encinias and Tina, Abelino Encinias, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; 62 grandchildren; and many other relatives.

ANTONIO A. FERNANDEZ, 82, of Las Vegas, N.M. died Thursday at Las Vegas Medical Center/Meadows after a long illness.
He was born in Wagon Mound and was a former resident of Casper, Wyo. He was a sheepherder in Casper, Wyo. most of his life. He loved animals, farming, carving, and carpentry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Guadalupe Fernandez; wife, Virginia Salazar Fernandez; daughter, Helen Fernandez; brothers, Teodoro Fernandez, Felix Fernandez, and Samuel Fernandez; and sister, Dora Martinez.

J. DAVID STRIETELMEIER, 80, of Los Alamos died Wednesday.
He was originally from Indianapolis, Ind. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the U.S.S. George DE697. He was a member of Prospect Lodge 714, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the V.F.W. Post 2839, and the American Legion Post 497. He was a salesman for the West Baking Company for several years, and had also been a salesman for various food brokers. He was the president of D.K. Food Service Brokers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgetta Cubel Strietelmeier.
He is survived by his son, David B. Strietelmeier of Los Alamos, two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
