Leroy Joe Vaisa, age 57, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away peacefully on Sunday Oct. 10 surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Peralta, NM. Leroy was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Leonard T. Rautio age 90, a resident of Socorro, N.M. went to be with our Lord on Saturday Oct. 9. He was born in Van Buren Minnesota and was a long time resident of his beloved town of Socorro. He served in the US Air Force and retired from the Civil Service.
Nina M. Dyer
1926-2010
Nina M. Dyer, age 84, a resident of Los Lunas, N.M., and formerly a long-time resident of El Paso, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 5. She was born on May 11, 1926 in Sayre, Okla. Nina married Alfred L. Dyer on Oct. 12, 1945 and stayed happily married for 60 years before his death.

State Representative-Fred Luna, age 79, a life-long resident of Los Lunas, passed away at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday, Oct. 13, surrounded by his loving family. He served Valencia County as a State Representative for 36 years and a Los Lunas School Board Member for 26 years.

Fabian George Lopez, age 20, a resident of Belen, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leo Lopez and Louis Madrid and uncles, Lonnie Lopez, George Madrid, Gerald Lopez and Felix Lopez.

Georgette McGuire-Rodriguez, age 48, a resident of Los Lunas, N.M., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 26. She was a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas and a member of the National Spanish Honor Society. Georgette worked at the Valencia County Sheriff’s Department as administrator for 16 years.
Emma Maldonado
1932-2010
Emma S. Maldonado, age 78, a resident of Jarales for the past 23 years, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family, on Dec. 15, following a long illness. She was preceded by her parents and four siblings. Emma is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Johnny; daughters, Judy Bergamo and husband, Ed, Margaret Rael, Bridgett Maldonado and Alice Laurie Gallegos and her sister-in-law, Mary Maes. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren, Ronnie Sandoval, Sam Bergamo and wife, Amanda, Gabriel Rael and wife, Melanie, Misti Rael-Chavez and husband, Eric, Traci Medrano and husband, Michael, Antonio Rael, John Serna, Nick Gallegos and wife, Tess, Jose Rael, Matthew, Sarah, Amanda and Paula Serna plus 19 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 20, with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sandoval, Sam Bergamo, Gabriel Rael, Antonio Rael, John Serna, Jose Rael, Matthew Serna and Mario Trujillo. The family would like to thank the members of Ambercare for the care they gave the family at this difficult time.
Eleanor M. Hawley
1926-2010
Eleanor M. Hawley, age 84, a resident of Belen, passed away on Friday, Dec. 10. She started her career volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America in New York. Marriage took her on adventures through North Africa and Europe after which she ended up in Southern California. Retiring from the automotive business, Eleanor followed her brother to Belen. Over the next almost 20 years, she volunteered with the Valencia County Historical Society, the Harvey House Museum, Valencia County Teen Court and UNM Valencia Campus. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Eva Lindsay; brother, Mark C. Lindsay and sister, Anita Moberly. Eleanor is survived by her three children; seven grand children; one great-great grand child and many loving nephews and aunts. No services are scheduled at this time.
Russell “Rusty” Sanchez
1959-2010
Russell “Rusty” Sanchez, age 51, a resident of Veguita, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 11, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Albuquerque in 1959 and moved with his family to Virginia in 1968. Rusty graduated from Oxen Hill High School in Maryland in 1977 and attended Towson University. He moved back to New Mexico in 1979 and lived with his grandparents, Albert and Mary Jaramillo. Rusty then lived in his home in Veguita surrounded by his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Mary Jaramillo and grandparents, Adelino, Sr. and Francesquita Sanchez. Rusty is survived by his father, Adelino Sanchez, Jr.; mother, Viola Jaramillo; brother, Darryl Sanchez; sisters, Janylle Koren Palmby and Michele Sanchez Burtchi and niece and nephews, Page, Brent and Taylor Koren. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. All services will be held at the Veguita Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing at 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 14, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 15, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Veguita Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Jaramillo, Brent Koren, Darryl Sanchez, PHD., Dr. Mark Sanchez, Charlie Kinsfather and Clarence Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Romero and Clayton Jaramillo.
Mary Alice Gonzales
1940-2010
GONZALES-Mary Alice (Moya), age 70, passed away on Friday, Dec. 10., surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Peralta, N.M. to Alfredo and Susie Moya. Mary met Alfonso Gonzales in Albuquerque, N.M., whom she wed in 1954. They began raising their family in Flagstaff, Ariz, but returned to Albuquerque in 1973. Mary often said that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy and she devoted her life towards supporting and helping them in any way possible. She dedicated much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her maternal uncles Donaciano Barela and Pablo Gallegos. Mary’s interests included reading, sewing and baking. In addition, she was a pitcher for the Gonzales All-Star Team. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alfonso Gonzales and her sisters, Kathy, Frances and Betty. Mary is survived by her children, Emelia Gonzales and partner, Jennifer Smoot, Alfred Gonzales and wife, Bonnie, Dora Gómez and husband, Larry, Anthony Gonzales and wife, Elizabeth, Nadine Gonzales and husband, Gil Gallegos, Michael Gonzales, Robert Gonzales and fiancée, Lisa Garduño and Anita Lopez and husband, Fred; her sister, Roberta Mondragon and husband, Paul; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many other extended family members. A visitation will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 15, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Lorenzo Castillo. A final visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Tome, at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 16, with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez presiding. Private interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors who provided such excellent care while their mother was hospitalized in the 4th floor AIC unit at Presbyterian Hospital.

RADER-John, age 66, a resident of Bosque Farms, N.M. passed away on Monday, Dec. 6. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Peralta, N.M. John was a beloved and devoted husband for 38 years, a proud and loyal father, son-in-law, father-in-law and friend who will be missed by anyone who ever had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his father, Royden Rader; mother, Dorothy Rader; brother-in-law, Harold Scott; sister, Diane Scott and niece, Leslie Scott. John is survived by his loving wife, Linda Rader; son, Matthew Rader; daughter-in-law, Megan Rader; mother-in-law, Jeanette Smith; Kevin and Kathy Scott and family; Shawn and Nan Scott and family and Christopher and Cheri Scott and family. Family and friends are welcome to pay their final respects at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 3674 Hwy 47, at 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 11., with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. The family will have a private interment at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Albuquerque, N.M.
