Martina “Tillie” Baca
Martina “Tillie” BacaMartina “Tillie” Baca, age 96, a life-long resident of the Tome-Adelino, NM area, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 1, 2010. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, where she participated as a member of the choir, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Cemetery Committee and served as a catechism teacher and Eucharistic minister. For decades, Tillie worked throughout many local Belen businesses, including Becker-Dalies, Trembley’s and Feil and Ellemeyer’s. While always signing her cards “Just Tia”, she was more than just a great-aunt to her many children and grandchildren, for whom she possessed an enormous love. She inspired everyone with her faith, kindness and unrelenting humor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doroteo and Ramoncita Baca; brothers, Jose Maria I, Manuel, Louis, Juan, Antonio, Crestino, Jose Maria, Frank and Teito “Doroteo”; sister, Concepcion Torres, nephew, Eppy Torres as well as several nieces and nephews and two grandchildren, Marcos and Alicia Sanchez. Although never married with children of her own, Tillie was a second-mother to her only sister, Chona’s seven children-Teresa Rojas and husband, Vince, Eppy Torres (deceased) and wife, Isabel, Johnny Torres and wife, Lenise, Ramon Torres and wife, Anna, Connie Padilla and husband, Henry, Cecilia Sanchez and husband, Leroy and Frances Sanchez and husband, Robert. Tillie was also blessed with 21 grandchildren, Vicki, Stephen, Roberto, Rebecca, Paul, Jessica, Christopher, LeeAnna, Angelo, Maria Elena, Andrea, Jeremy, Joey, Jonathan, Janelle, James, Carlos, Felipe, Francisco, Ricardo and Monica and 17 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Bethany, Benjamin, Erika, Kai, Kayla, Nehemiah, Concepcion, Elijah Jesse, Chase, Faith, Rebekah-Grace, Gabriel, Michael and Aimee. She is also survived by her brother, Odelio F. Baca and wife, Emilia and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and Godchildren whom she loved tremendously. The family would like to extend a special and sincere appreciation to Isabel & her “angel” Rebecca Torres for all the help they so selflessly gave throughout the years. A special thanks to Padre Jose Hernandez and Amber Care Hospice nurses. All services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, beginning with a viewing on Sunday, July 4, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Tome Catholic Cemetery.

C. Lorraine Garcia
C. Lorraine GarciaC. Lorraine García, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 26, 2010. She was one of the founders of the Story Hour program at the Belen Public Library, and the longest serving member of the Library Board. She was also a member of Pilot Club International, Red Hats Society, a volunteer of over 30 years at the New Mexico Jazz Workshop, the contact person for patients suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia Disorder and member of the New Mexico Locksmiths Association. Lorraine was a loving wife, mother and sister. Lorraine was an ebullient woman, full of dignity and grace. She gave of herself freely, never met a stranger and was always ready to comfort and console those in their time of need. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Helen Jaramillo Torres and A. Torres and her sister, Carmen Torres. Lorraine is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Gilbert García; her son, Alonzo García; daughter, Mariel García Young; granddaughter, Alanna Young; grandson, Eric Young; sisters, Bessie Aragon, Frances Perotti and Mary Ellen Pruess and her aunt, whom she called “Tia Linda” Marquez. Patricio B. Esquibel
1911-2010
Patricio “Pat” B. Esquibel, age 98, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Belen Meadows Nursing Home. On September 25, 1911, in the little town of La Joya, NM, Patricio was born to the humble family of the late Leandro y Marillita Barela Esquibel. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and was raised in a very catholic home environment, with strong moral values and discipline. Pat graduated from La Joya High School in 1930 with high honors. He won several awards for reading the most books.
Pat or “Pate” as he was known left a valuable legacy to his family. By his examples, he instilled work ethics and skills. He was a hard worker all his life. Pat was an obedient son. Being an older son, he tended to his father’s ranch and farm. He built many windmills, fences and cattle guards. Pat was known for growing the biggest watermelons in La Joya. In his later years, he worked road construction, mainly on bridges. Pat was well liked and respected by his foremen that he was allowed to hire several young people from the area.
“Our Dad never had a bad day. Ne never uttered a bad word. He never spanked his children. It was through his example of values, morals and principles that he gave all of us many valuable lessons. He was a man of very few words, gentle and kind. Even in his old age, he never complained about anything; his illness or even about the weather”.
He was also preceded in death by his oldest son, Leandrito at the young age of three; brothers, Emilio and Victor Esquibel; sisters, Ferminia Lovato, Rosaita Baca and Dulcinea Peralta; grandson, Joey Esquibel and son-in-law, Leo Trujillo.
Pat is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 77 years, Amelia Carrillo Esquibel; his children, Glissie Esquibel and wife, Domie of San Antonio, TX, Martha Trujillo of Los Chavez, NM, Roy Esquibel and wife, Tommie of Albuquerque, NM, Frankie Esquibel of Belen, Margaret Montoya and husband, Jim of Los Lunas, NM and Tony Esquibel and wife, Geraldine of Albuquerque; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-granddaughters.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, beginning with a viewing, on Wednesday, June 30 at 6:00 p.m. and a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen

Refugio Castillo
1933-2010
Refugio Castillo, age 77, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Refugio loved wearing his cowboy hat and listening to Spanish music. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Refugio will be dearly missed and loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eloiza Castillo; son, Michael Castillo; three brothers; one sister; two granddaughters and one grandson. Refugio is survived by eight children; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by many other loving family members. On behalf of the Castillo family they would like to thank each and everyone for their support and condolences. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Monday, June 28, beginning with a final visitation at 9:00 a.m., a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.

Father Robert E. Auman
1918-2010
Father Robert E. Auman, age 91, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010. He was born in Eric, PA. Father
Auman was a Priest of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, NM. He was ordained June 1, 1947 in Columbus, OH (The Pontifical College Josephinum). His Parishes included at on one time or another, Peñasco, Trujillo, Wagon Mound, Ruidoso (twice), El Rito, Las Vegas, Sapello, Juarez Mexico, Bernalillo, Tome, La Joya, Tor C, Ft. Sumner, Mountainair and Vaughn. Of all his Parishes he loved Tome best of all. Father Auman published two books “The Three Centuries of Tome” and Eucharist Through the Centuries”. His pen name was “Roberto De La Vega” a translation of his last name. Father Auman gave all rights of his second book to the Legion of Christ, published by Circle Press, Handen, CT. Father Auman requested no flowers but to have masses said for the repose of his soul. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary and two brothers, Jerome and Harry. Father Auman is survived by all former parishioners. All services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Tome, beginning with a viewing on Thursday, June 24, at 5:00 p.m. and a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Tome Catholic Cemetery. Pablo G. Chavez
1922-2010
Pablo G. Chavez, age 87, a resident of Jarales, NM, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Pablo was a WWII veteran and proudly served his country in the US Navy in the Naval Construction Battalion (Sea Bees) in the Pacific Campaign. He retired from Kirtland Air Force Base after several years of outstanding service. He loved farming and continued farming well after retirement. Pablo and his wife, Manuela also established the P&M Farm Museum. His hobbies consisted of hunting and painting. Pablo’s philosophy was setting high goals, he would always say “shoot for the stars, who knows, you may land on the moon”. Pablo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Chavez y Baca; mother, Antonia G. Chavez; brother, Vidal Chavez and his granddaughter, Michelle Chavez. Pablo is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Manuela P. Chavez; son, Bernie Chavez, Sr. and wife, Jean; daughter, Nora Chavez-Copeland and husband, William and son, Roman Chavez and wife, Vitalia; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Thursday, June 17, beginning with a visitation at 9:00 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Dean Vosburgh
1927-2010
Dean E. Vosburgh, age 83, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Dean then became a 1st Lieutenant in the US Air Force. He was a mechanical engineer, working on Department of Defense jobs after his honorable discharge from the Air Force. While in Belen, Dean was a volunteer and coordinator for AARP Tax Aide, a member of New Mexico Board of Realtors and worked for Exit Realty. He was employed with Dennison Hydrolics later known as Abex, where he worked on the space shuttle. Dean liked the outdoors and loved to hike, ski and play golf. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Darle Vosburgh; son, David and wife, Linda Vosburgh of Los Alamos, NM and grandchildren, Alex, Kelly and Scott Vosburgh of Los Alamos. Armando “Luis” Quintana
1959-2010
Armando Alberto “Luis” Chavez Quintana, edad 51, un residente de Los Lunas, NM, murio el viernes,11 de junio. Los servicios seran en la Capilla de la Funeraria de Romero, el miercoles, 16 de junio, empezando la las en 9:00 de la manana con un Rosario para ser recitado en 11:00 de la manana y una Misa Funeraria a las 12:00 de la tarde. El entierro sera en Mexico.

Bogosta, Susan J.
1951-2010
Susan J. Bogosta, age 59, a resident of Los Lunas, N.M., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 2. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y. and spent her childhood and high school years in the Syracuse region of central New York. Later Susan moved to the southwest where she first lived in the Las Cruces, N.M. area, where she worked in a chiropractic office. In the 1980’s she moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where she obtained her nursing degree at TVI Community College. Later, she worked at Memorial Psychiatric Hospital before beginning a career at University of New Mexico Children’s Psychiatric Unit. She served both as a charge nurse and eventually as a nurse supervisor beginning in 2000. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen and father, William Bogosta. Susan is survived by her brother, William; niece, Christelle; great-niece, Tessa and great-nephew, Adrien. Susan will be greatly missed by family, co-workers and friends.

Savedra, Arturo “Arthur”
1927-2010
Arthur Savedra, age 83, a resident of Bosque Farms, NM peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Oct. 8. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM. Arthur served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union for 42 years. He enjoyed gardening and always shared his harvest with all. His greatest love was for his family and Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday were his most cherished times with them. The family wishes to give a special thank you to our angel, Julian Esquibel, for the special care he gave to our father and thank you to all the medical staff who cared for him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Guadalupe Giron Savedra; loving wife, Sophie Savedra; daughter, Janice Saavedra; and three grandsons, Mikie, Danny and Tom. Arthur is survived by his loving children, Josie and husband, Candy, Mike and wife, Ida, and Steve and wife, Barbara; two brothers, Albert and wife, Dorothy, and Ruben and wife Isabel; close family member, Deborahrose Poster; four grandchildren, Tim, Charlie, Steven, and Felicia; and ten great-grandchildren, Amber, Tyler, Danielle, Alyssa, Brianna, Devon, Daniel, Kaleb, Ronnie, and Aaron. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. All services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 11 with a Viewing at 9:00 a.m., a Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez presiding.
