GOLDIE MILDRED HEDQUIST, 89, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday after a short illness.
She was an avid crocheter, knitter, baker, member of the San Miguel County Women Extension Club, Den Mother for Cub Scouts and a homeroom mother for all her children during their school years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Easter Star Ransford Chapter 2.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Walter Walace and Artie Ester Ferrell; husband, Elmer Clayton Hedquist; 10 brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Evelyn Krautheim and husband Bob of Dearborn, Mich.; sons, Bruce C. Hedquist and wife Gerri of Albuquerque, Edward Hedquist and wife Christine of Santa Fe, David W. Hedquist of Casa Grande, Ariz. and Ron L. Hedquist and wife Frances of Las Vegas, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; special friend and caregiver, Irene Esquibel of Las Vegas, N.M.; several foster children she raised, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. today at the Rogers Chapel with burial to follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Visitation begins at 8 a.m. today at the chapel.

JUAN ANTONIO SANCHEZ, 88, of Española died Sunday.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He founded Valley Cleaners on Riverside Drive in 1951.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Filigonio and Maria Sanchez; brothers, Felipe Nerio, Jose Maria, Willie and Bernabe Sanchez; and sister, Teresina Rodriguez.
He is survived by his wife, Antonia Sanchez of Española, sons, Mark Sanchez Sr. and wife Terry of Española and Diego Sanchez of Albuquerque; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 8 a.m. today at Saint John the Baptist Church in San Juan Pueblo with burial to follow at 10 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ELDIE SANDOVAL, 75, of Truchas died Friday at the Los Alamos Medical Center after a long illness.
She was a housewife that enjoyed being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Federico Sandoval; sons, Miguel and Lavares; daughters, Dora and Floy; parents, Juan and Anita Lopez; and brother, Ruben Lopez.

MARILYN LOU TELLEZ, 69, of Santa Fe died after a long illness.
She was born and raised in Scranton, Pa., and graduated from nursing school in Manhattan. She was an advocate of peace and social justice.

PETE WHITE, 85, of Los Alamos died Sunday.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was stationed in Germany where his company was cut off behind German lines and listed as missing in action for six days before they were rescued on Christmas Eve in 1944. He also fought on the front lines in the Battle of the Bulge. He then worked various jobs as a journeyman ironworker until he moved to Los Alamos to work for the Zia Co. in 1947. During his years with the Zia Co. he participated in Operation Ivy, the test of the hydrogen bomb at Eniwetok Proving Grounds, Marshall Islands, in 1952. In April 2003, he was honored by the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local 495, for 61 years of continuous membership. He was active in his church and spent many hours coaching youth baseball and softball teams and supporting many other youth activities.
He is survived by his wife, Bess; son, Les White and wife Merle of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Judy Boulton and husband Dean of Graham, Texas; son, Rick White and wife Pearl of Los Alamos; brothers, Bob White of El Paso, R.C. White of Riverton, Wyo., and Jack White of Denton, Texas; seven grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church, 220 Diamond Dr., Los Alamos with graveside service to follow at 3 p.m. at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.
