Always wanting them to have the best. Even though you were widowed at age 32, you always managed to give us what we needed. Thanks, Mom, for taking care of us all those years after Dad's death. Ten years after you left us to be with God, you and Dad are still in our hearts and will always be missed. Love You!

Pauline "Pat" Blain. Funeral services for Pat Blain, 80, of Lubbock will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at Westminister Presbyterian Chruch with the Rev. Dan Birchfield and Bruce Cotton, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. She died Friday, June 8, 2001 at her home. She was born June 23, 1920 in Stratford, CT. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1941 and contributed to the war effort during WWII by working for United Technologies, an airplane manufacturing company where she met her husband. She volunteered for US Navy and Air Force nursing duties but was denied because of her diminutive stature. She married Robert R. Blain on June 17, 1944, in Stratford, CT. She lived in Lubbock for 31 years before moving to Albuquerque, NM. She worked in nursing over the years retiring in 1990 after 18 years as school nurse with Idalou Independent Schools. She was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church in Lubbock. Survivors include her husband, Robert R. Blain of Lubbock, TX; son, Matt Blain of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Barbara Fallon of Williamsburg, VA; sisters, Helen Varnish of Stratford, CT and Mary McCarty of CA; brother, John Klevecz; eight grandchildren. The family suggest memorials to Hospice of Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Resthaven.
Leon Wesley Caster, 70, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died Saturday, June 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jackie Caster of Albuquerque; son, Lon Caster and wife, Suzanne of Albuquerque; daughters, Robin Armenta and husband, Ken of Capitan, NM, and Sande Lucero of Albuquerque; and nine grandchildren, Wesley, Justin, Tracy, Lisa, Willie, Jeff, Samantha Jo, Lee, and Lane. He was born March 11, 1931 in Estancia, NM. Mr. Caster served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired after 35 years with the V.A. Medical Center. Mr. Caster was a life member of D.A.V. and V.F.W. Services will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. John S. Fleming Jr., age 88, passed away June 7, 2001 in Albuquerque. Services will be in the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Neustifter Officiant. Alfred H. Galbraith, resident of Albuquerque, passed away on June 8, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Beth Hinks and husband, Scott of Waukesha, WI, and Laura Galbraith of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Joanna and Nathan; brothers, Frank Galbraith and wife, Katherine of Topeka, KS and Galen Galbraith of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Nadine Moore and husband, Richard of Pampano Beach, FL, and Darlene Young and husband Bob of Reno, NV; sister-in-law, Madeline Galbraith of Madison, KS; brother-in-law Walter Imlay of Topeka, KS. Alfred is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was very fond as well of his wife's family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie. Alfred graduated from Kansas State University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway and retired after 26 years. Mary A. Goens, 56, a lifelong New Mexican, died Thursday, June 7, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Vincent Goens and Jesse Goens, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Kimberly Goens of Los Lunas; 2 grandchildren, Alex Morales and Kristen Goens; sisters, her identical twin, Margaret Vanderheide and husband, Bill and Roseanne Flores and husband, Ernest; and nieces and nephews. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed deeply by all who knew her. She was an assistant manager at the deli at the new Sandia Casino. Charles J. Harris, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, loving, warm and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Thursday, June 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Joann Harris; sons, David Harris and wife, Linda, all of Albuquerque and John Harris and wife, Fay of Chama; sister, Berniece Davis and husband, Ken of Naples, FL; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Charles was a graduate of Purdue University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi and played varsity football. He was a member of Hoffmantown Church and Kiwanis. Charles was a longtime volunteer of New Mexico Museum of Natural History and former board member of Heights YMCA. He was a retired engineer from the New Mexico State Highway Department. Charles enjoyed traveling, Lobo basketball and volunteer work in his retirement. Marvin M. "Marv" Higgins, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, June 9, 2001. He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Margaret M. Higgins; son, Bruce Higgins and wife, Sue; three grandchildren, Janet Ratliff of Albuquerque, Jim Higgins and wife, Suzzette of Sacramento, CA, and Jeff Higgins and wife, Terri of Albuquerque; five great-grandchildren, Cortney and Cory Ratliff, Hayley & Alec Higgins and Jake Higgins; and numerous nieces and nephews in Michigan. Marv was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He moved to Albuquerque from Michigan in 1946 for his health and was a barber at Chamberlain's Barber Shop and Kelso's Barber Shop in Albuquerque and also owned and operated his own barber shop. Melvin C. (Johnny) Johnson, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Thursday, June 7, 2001. He was the son of Norwegian pioneers Olaf and Minnie Johnson born in Genoa, CO. on November 23, 2001. Johnny is survived by his daughters, Sondra Tewes and husband, Peter of Albuquerque and Sheree Traub and husband, Robert of San Jacinto, CA; granddaughters, Victoria Smalley and husband, Mikal of Albuquerque and Jennifer Kieffer and husband, David of Corona, CA; grandsons, Christopher Tewes of Portland OR, Nathan McCasland of Ackworth, GA, Peter Tewes III of Portland, OR and Scott Traub and wife, Veronica of Yorba Linda, CA; three great-grandchildren, Toni Traub, Tristan Traub, and Luke Kieffer; brother, Orin Johnson of Craig, CO and Norman Johnson and wife, Mary of Laramie, WY; sister, Marlene Griffin and husband, Jim of Craig, CO; brother-in-law, Harold Smithburg of Arriba, CO; sisters-in-law, Patricia M. Frank W. Nebus, Sr., 61, a resident of Rio Rancho died, Friday, June 8, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Ann Nebus of Rio Rancho; daughter, Maria Fayard and husband, Bob of North Glenn, CO; son, Frank Nebus, Jr. and wife, Carolyn Kim of Rio Rancho; and grandchildren, Randy and Sean Nebus and Conner Fayard. He retired from Jersey Central Power and Light Nuclear Company after 36 years and moved to Rio Rancho 2 years ago. Frank has been employed at Intel for the last year where he was a Manufacturing Technician for Fab 11. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Jersey. Ruben Martinez Orozco, 28, went home to the Lord on June 8, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Jose and Oralia Martinez; two brothers, Ricardo Martinez and Rene Martinez. Antonia Sais Perea, 79, born in Tome, NM went to her eternal rest peacefully while surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 9, 2001. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus; her parents, Adelida Turietta and Antonio Sais; one brother, Pedro; and one sister, Francisquita. She is survived by her sons, Martin and wife, Ann; Manuel and wife, Theresa; Albert and wife, Rosalind; Steven; and Mariano; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Antonia is also survived by a great niece, Diane Chiwiwi, who took care of her for the past three years. Our Mom had a great love for her family and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Henry Joseph Robinson, Sr., 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away June 6, 2001. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1962. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Services, retiring in 1973. Henry loved fishing, dancing, horses, music, boating and traveling in his RV. Survivors include his sons, Henry Robinson, Jr. and Edward Robinson; daughters, Vanessa Sawyer and Penny Ann Gullette; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Thomas Wilton (T.W.) Shaw, passed away June 10, 2001, in Albuquerque. He was born December 22, 1913 in Troup, TX. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Gene Shaw; his children, Tony Shaw of Kingsland, TX, Sydney Tregembo of Capitan, NM, Vicki Cook of Hot Springs, AK; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who loved and respected him immensely. T. W. was part of the first shopping center in Albuquerque when he opened Nob Hill Drug in 1947, after moving here from Borger, TX in 1946. He then went on to open Holiday Bowl in 1958 and operated the bowling alley until his retirement in 1976. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed each other while traveling together and then watching their family grow and prosper. He will always be admired by family and friends for his devotion, honesty and character. T.W. was a member of the University Church of Christ and Ballut Abyad Shriners. Gloria G. Alvarez, 54, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died on June 9, 2002. She is survived by her three children, Sandra Deniston and husband, Tod of Rio Rancho, Monica Gutierrez and husband, Ray of Albuquerque, Michelle Fuentes and Eddie Gifford II of Rio Rancho; three stepchildren, Robert Fuentes of Albuquerque, Wilford Fuentes and wife, Angel of Rio Rancho and Randy Fuentes of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren; five sisters, Pauline Morro, Patsy Sedillo and husband, Richard, Mary Valdez and husband, Robert, Caroline Galvan and Mary Louise Morales; one brother, Julian Galvan. Gloria is preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Galvan, Beatrice Rogers, Susie Olson and one brother, Alfred Galvan. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church. Gloria battled breast cancer for 91/2 years through these trying times she was always a loving, caring mother and grandmother as well as a great sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. Damacio Apodaca Jr., 65, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family on June 10, 2002. Mr. Apodaca is the beloved husband of 43 years to Mrs. Ernestine Apodaca. Mr. Apodaca is also survived by two daughters, Maria Chavez and husband, Lenard, Anna Casias and husband, Anthony; two sons, Joseph Apodaca and wife, Gina, Matthew Apodaca and wife, Lupita; four sisters, Vina Lopez, Piedad Chavez and husband, Tony, Elsie Sedillo, Carmen Apodaca and Beto; his father-in-law, Mike Giron; A special uncle, Alfredo Apodaca; a special cousin, Genaro Apodaca; a special nephew, Fred Apodaca; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Apodaca is preceded in death by his grandson, Pedro Lopez. Mr. Apodaca was a member of the Catholic Church. Col. Corwin E. Chambers USAF (Ret.), 60, a resident of Albuquerque for 16 years, died Saturday, June 8, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol Ann Chambers of Albuquerque; daughters, Christie Chambers of Albuquerque, and Trish Chambers Bump and husband, David of Gilbert, AZ; and sister, Karen Coddington of Huber Heights, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lucile Yonally Chambers. Corwin Chambers was born in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from East High in Wichita in 1959. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1964 with a BA in Social Sciences, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Corwin Chambers received his Air Force Commission through the ROTC program. He married Carol Ann Weaverling on May 31, 1964. During his 26-year career Col. Chambers was stationed in Germany, Greece, and England and was a veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, where he received the Bronze Star. Col. Chambers served at Kirtland Air Force Base for five years at DNS and then as Commander of 3098 AVDS and retired from RAF Lakenheath in England in 1991. Since retiring he played tennis at High Point and served as president of the Board of Directors at Christ Unity Church. Services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at Christ Unity Church, 9800 Candelaria Rd NE, with Reverend Guy Lynch officiating. Carrie Corrazzi left this world to join the Lord on June 8, 2002. Carrie passed into His arms peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 15, 1914 in Seattle, WA, spent her childhood in Raton where she met and married her beloved Primo who preceded her in death in 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Rose Vincioni- Paloni and her husband, John; her sons, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Corazzi and Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Corazzi; her brothers, Frank Manfredi and his wife, Edie and Albert Becchetti and his wife, Arzie; sister-in-law, Etola Manfredi along with 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Catherine Fifield, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, June 8, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Fifield of Albuquerque and Lynn Zoller and husband, Mark of Centennial, CO; son, John Fifield and wife, Judy of Albuquerque; grandsons, Jay Dines, Lucas Dines and Jason Fifield, all of Albuquerque and Nicholas Zoller of Centennial, CO; and granddaughter, Jennifer Fifield of Albuquerque. She was married to Myron Fifield in 1946, who preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lynn Moore and Frances Poulos. Catherine Lucas Fifield was born on July 29, 1917 in South Bend, IN. She was a graduate of Ohio State University. Catherine lovingly reared her three children before being employed as a Technical Librarian for the National Laboratories, retiring in 1980. In her later years, she cherished her role as grandmother to her five grandchildren. During her 51 years in Albuquerque, she was a member of St. Marks-on-the-Mesa and St. Aidans Episcopal Churches and the St. Peter and St. Paul Orthodox Church. Catherine passed away after a long illness. Services will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at the Cathedral Church of St. John, 4th Street and Silver SW.
