Antonio Armijo, 20, of Big Spring, died on Friday, June 18, 1999, in Big Spring. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque. He was born on November 17, 1978 in Salinas, California. Antonio loved to work on cars and belonged to the Low Image Car Club of Big Spring. He had high hopes for life and had many friends whom he never turned away from if they were in need. He will be greatly missed by his father, mother, Nana, relatives and friends. He recently mentioned that he had hoped to return to Albuquerque where he could be at home with those who loved him, and in keeping with his wishes, his family will lay him to rest there. Survivors include his father, Arthur Armijo of Big Spring; his mother, Patricia Schmerber of Kerrville; one sister, Savannah Schmerber of Kerrville; his grandmother, Ernestina V. Armijo of Albuquerque; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Russell H. Beaver, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years, died Saturday, June 19, 1999. He is survived by his sisters, Hilda Bolinger of Huntington, IN, Chrystal Lumm of Fort Wayne, IN, and Betty Tinsman of Englewood, CO; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends at Albuquerque Grand Senior Living. Glenn L. Bowerman died at home in Albuquerque, May 24, 1999. He is survived by Joyce Bowerman, his wife of 55 years. Also surviving are his children, Barbara Bowerman of Boulder, CO, Frank Bowerman of Kansas City, MO, Glenn Bowerman and wife, Michele of Santa Susanna, CA, Greg Bowerman and wife, Lisa of San Diego, CA, and Bruce Bowerman and Kristin Larson of Eugene, OR; and his three grandchildren, Jennifer Bowerman of Lake Lotawana, MO and Christopher and Carly Bowerman of San Diego. Glenn was born in Cottonwood, SD and later moved to Oklahoma, where he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1942 and married Joyce, his high school sweetheart. He served his country for three and one-half years during WWII. He retired from Western Auto Offices in KCMO, following which he served in the International Executive Service Corps. from 1985 to 1987, in Jordan, Haiti, and Sri Lanka. In 1990, Glenn and Joyce made their home in Albuquerque. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Glenn will always be missed by those he left behind. Earl William, Jr. "Irish" or "Cris", 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Friday, June 18, 1999. Mr. Crist was born on April 10, 1925, in Amarillo, Texas. Irish graduated from Amarillo High School and the University of New Mexico with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. He was President of Crist Machinery and Supply, Inc.; Plateau Supply Inc.; member of the Associated Contractors of New Mexico; past President of Albuquerque Equipment Distributors, and was a member of the Albuquerque Country Club. Irish served on the Presbyterian Hospital board for 28 years (1967-1995). Mr. Crist was preceded in death by his parents, Earl William, Sr. and Edna Crist, and a son, William Harvey Crist. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Cornelius Crist and daughter Lou Ann Oney and husband, Michael Oney of Hobbs. He has four grandchildren, Justin, Cristin, Meredith, and Michael Jordan Oney; and an aunt, Olive Swafford. Irish enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and quail hunting. Lugarda Madrid Gibson went to be with the Lord on June 19, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Desiderio and Feliz Madrid. Mary Winefred "Ted" Davies Hopson, 90, of Groves, Texas, died Friday at her home. A native of Santa Fe, she lived in Groves for two and a half years. Having moved from Lubbock, Texas, she also resided in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. She was a homemaker. Mie Shu Ou passed away on May 6, 1999 at his home in Albuquerque. He was 70 years of age. Born in Shanghai, China, he graduated from Taiwan University Law School, having majored in Commerce. He also held a graduate degree in fine arts from the University of Notre Dame. During his lifetime he held numerous teaching positions and was also active among the art community. Surviving him is a sister, Viola Fu of West Lafayette, IN; and a brother, David Ou of Brazil.

Alma Rock Stagg, 96, a resident of Albuquerque for 61 years, died Thursday, June 17, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Harry P. David Arthur Thomas, who was born January 9, 1928 at Pocatello, Idaho, passed away in Albuquerque on June 17, 1999. After serving in the Marine Corps in China, Mr. Thomas moved to Albuquerque in 1950 and graduated from UNM in 1952. He subsequently worked as a journalist in Albuquerque for the Associated Press, Albuquerque Journal, and the Rocky Mountain Construction Magazine. In 1980, he changed careers to become a noted sculptor of scientifically accurate dinosaurs. His sculptures include the two life-size bronze dinosaurs in front of the NM Museum of Natural History, as well as pieces in natural history museums in Anniston, AL, Taiwan, Salt Lake City, Bozeman, MT, San Diego, and others. His skills were featured in several national journals and the Discovery TV Channel. He was also an accomplished classical and jazz violinist, playing with the NM Symphony Orchestra and several local bands. He is survived by his wife, Joan; a daughter, Debbie Thomas; a son, David E. Thomas and wife, Pam, all of Albuquerque; a brother, Frank J. Thomas and his wife, Carol of Malibu, CA; and two grandsons, Benjamin and Matthew. He will be missed by his family and all of his friends. He loved us all, as we loved him. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, June 23, 2:00 p.m., at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming NE. Dorothy Etta Zachary Trapple, 75, former resident of Meadow Lake, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 1999. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Trapple in January 1999; and one brother, Jack Zachary. she is survived by her two sons, James and Kenneth Trapple; her brothers and sisters, Jesse Cordell Zachary Jr., Donald Zachary, James Zachary, Ruth Bowers, Phillip Zachary, David Zachary, Carol Moore, and Richard Zachary; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara A. Cottrell, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2000. Barbara was born in Sioux City, Iowa, September 6, 1926, of Clarence L. and Inez Rowe. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Nursing, and had worked as an Registered Nurse at several Albuquerque Hospitals. She was retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Mexico where she had worked in medical claims for nearly 20 years after which she operated Cottrell's Hallmark shop for 11 years. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Rowe and her brother, Bruce Rowe. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Marion M. Cottrell of Albuquerque; son, Bruce H. Cottrell and wife, Kim of Santa Fe; daughter, Anne Maria Garcia and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Phillip and Nathan Garcia of Albuquerque; mother, Inez Nifomg of Sioux City, Iowa; and sister, Ramona Kelly also of Sioux City, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Formerly a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Albuquerque, Bob attended the Columbus Academy and the University of New Mexico. He was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and later pursued various business and personal interests, including flying, sailing, auto racing, selling and collecting vintage sports cars, and computer programming. Mary Confa Gonzales, 88, went home to Our Lord on Monday, June 19, 2000. She was born on October 19, 1911 in Bosquecito, NM to Henry and Romelia (Peralta) Harada. Her childhood was spent in Bosquecito, then the family moved to San Antonio, NM. On September 11, 1938, she married Gabriel and spent her life making a home and raising a family. Hers was a life of love and caring, enjoying her friends and extended family. Her passion was the church, extending her love through catechism teaching, and her lovely singing voice in the choir. Her faith never wavered, quietly accepting what life had to offer. She bore children, suffered the loss of infants, sent sons and daughters off into the world, counseled grandchildren and always held to the traditions of her life. An example of a virtuous woman, a matriarch and a mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Albert Harada and his wife, Senida; and sisters, Genevive Del Curto and her husband, Pete and Juanita Nottoli and her husband, Albert. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gabriel of their home in San Antonio; sisters, Jessie Gabaldon and husband, Roger and Lucy Chavez and husband, Macario; brother, Henry Harada and wife, Earlene; daughters, Amada Gallegos and husband, Dennis and Stella Piccinni and husband, Bill; sons, Mel and wife, Terri and John and wife, Linda; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Hall Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, June 22, 7:00 p.m., at the San Antonio Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 23, 11:00 a.m., at San Antonio, with Father Bill Sanchez as Celebrant. Interment will be in the San Antonio Cemetery.
