John D. Maes of Albuquerque passed away April 22, 2003 at his home in Goodyear, AZ with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Susan E. Maes; mother, Stella Gutierrez of Albuquerque; daughter, Michelle L. LeCesne of Lancaster, TX; and his sons, John D. Maes and Kevin J. Maes both of Albuquerque. Linda Gail Schlenker Pearson of Bernalillo was born August 5, 1946 in Portales, NM and she passed away in Albuquerque on Tuesday, April 22, 2003. Linda is survived by her husband, William E. "Bill" Pearson of the Bernalillo home; and three children, Angela and husband, Cliff and their children, Coady, Cliff and Ruby of Durango, CO, Aaron T. Pearson and wife, Glenda and their daughter, Miranda and expected son, Tristan of Albuquerque and Garon Pearson and his son, Brandon also of Albuquerque. Harold B.Thomas, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2003. Harold was born December 20, 1921 the son of Burton and Nora West Thomas in Mosquero, New Mexico. (Harold served in the US Army during WW II.) He had worked in Quality Control with the Sandia National Laboratories for 33 years before retiring. Harold was an avid sportsman, loved fishing, baseball, softball, and basketball. He had been a pitcher, and had the nick name of "Speed ". Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Velma, in July of 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Rogers; one brother, Elton Thomas and wife Gale; grandson, Michael Rogers and wife Taasha; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Hunter; also numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to Dr. Matthew Montoya, for his pulmonary special care and his great sense of humor. JOSE IGNACIO QUINTANA, 84, of Cuarteles died Thursday on his 53rd wedding anniversary at the family home following a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Maxine Quintana; one son, Donald Quintana; one grandson, Edward 'Big Dawg' Quintana; one sister, Manuelita Lopez; brother-in-law, Abedon Lopez; and his parents, Casimiro and Maximiana Quintana. ERMELINA ROMERO of Mora died Wednesday in Las Vegas, N.M. She was born on March 25, 1903, to the late Ramon Trujillo and Juanita Casados. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was a very active member of her church in Mora and was involved with the Mora-San Miguel Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Simmie Riggs; sons-in-law Jim Riggs and Sam Romero; sisters Margie Trujillo and Ernestine Trujillo; brothers Alfredo Trujillo, Olmedo Trujillo and Donicio Trujillo; brothers-in-law Resendo Romero and Rubel Romero; sisters-in-law Costancia Trujillo and Adelia Trujillo. She is survived by her daughter, Katie Romero of Las Cruces; sons, Gabriel Romero and wife Angie of Santa Fe, and Juan Cruz Romero of Denver; 12 grandchildren; 17 grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Don G. Austin, age 83, passed away on April 24, 1999. He was born to Lloyd and Essie Austin in Scottsville, KY on January 31, 1916. He is survived by his wife, Betty of the family home; children, Diantha Vallentine and Keith Austin of Albuquerque; sister, Joyce Faulknor of Alexander, VA; grandchildren, Amber, Casie and Ashelie Austin and Courtney and Kayla Vallentine; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Austin. Before retirement, he was employed as a tool and die maker. He lived in the Rio Rancho area for 14 years and the Albuquerque area for 38 years. Douglas R. Ball, 47, a native of Albuquerque, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 after a long illness. A devoted son, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor, he was preceded in death by his parents, Myrl W. and Gladys F. Ball; and his oldest sister, Anne Marie Ball. He is survived by his sister, Alice C. Rakes of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; three brothers, Roy E. Ball and Nelson T. Ball of Albuquerque, and Kenneth M. Ball of Conifer, Colorado; three nephews; two nieces and many wonderful friends and relatives of all ages. Jimmy Bowen, 80, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, April 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Weeta A.
