ESMERALDO MARTINEZ, 83, of Canjilon died Monday.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the U.S. Forest Service.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Esmeraldo Jr. and Raymond Martinez; and sister, Olivama Maestas.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Martinez of Canjilon; children, Albert Martinez and wife Irene of Canjilon, Isabel Martinez and husband Roger of Santa Fe, Molly Baca and husband Paul of Canjilon, Ardy Martinez of Albuquerque, Elsie Martinez and husband Ross, Belinda Valdez and husband Paul, all of Canjilon, Loyda Martinez and husband Danny of Tierra Azul, Jean Childers and husband Kevin of Denver, Vickie Rodela and husband Tito, Nelda Montaño and husband George, all of Alcalde, Tony Martinez of Canjilon, Carla Martinez of Chama, Jake Martinez and wife Vangie, James Martinez, all of Canjilon; sister, Sobeida Trujillo and husband Marcelino of Denver, 44 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in Canjilon. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same church.

ERNEST J. SALAZAR, 78, of Española died Saturday.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the Army Reserve. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W., the Española Lions Club and received the Lion of the Year Award for three years. He volunteered as a firefighter for the Valley Estates Volunteer Fire Department and served one year as assistant chief.
He is survived by his wife, Adelita C. Salazar; daughter, Debarri S. Gonzales and husband Henry of Santa Fe; son, Ernest Leroy Salazar and wife Loretta of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren; four sisters, Edith Williams of Fairview, Rose Lopez and husband Tony of Salt Lake City, Helen Vigil and husband Nick of Denver, and Stella Naranjo and husband Barney of Alamosa, Colo.; brothers, Isaac Salazar and wife Jan of Ogden, Utah, Roy Salazar and wife Judy of Albuquerque, and Jerry Salazar and wife Mary Ann of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many other relatives and friends.

ESTHER T. TRUJILLO, 98, of Black Lake died Thursday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Trujillo; son, Ramon Trujillo; parents, Mariano and Marianita Tafoya; brothers, Rumaldo, Mardoqueo, Jose, and Juan Tofoya; and sisters, Tonita Trujillo, Eloisa Segura, Dora Segura and Luisa Torres.

VIVIAN GRIEGO, 96, of Santa Fe died Sunday. She attended Loretto Academy and owned and operated Griego's Grocery Store (established in 1935) on College Street for more than 60 years.
She was a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis, Altar Society, Union Protectiva, Legion of Mary, Confradia de la Conquistadora and was a strong Republican. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estevan and Dolores Griego; brothers, Frank, Lalo and Pino; sisters, Jessie Salazar, brother-in-law, Charlie Madrid, and sisters-in-law, Dela, Bertha and Vita Griego. JOSE JUAN SANCHEZ, 72, of Santa Fe died Sunday. He was a carpenter and artisan who built several houses in Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Albuquerque and other locations throughout northern New Mexico. He worked on the San Miguel Mission Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and the Lensic Theater. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was stationed in Korea and remained there until the last prisoner exchange at the end of the Korean War. He received the 50-year commemorative medal in 2002. He was a skilled hunter and fisherman, and his knowledge and love for the mountains and trails of northern New Mexico was something he shared with his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Benigna Sanchez; brothers, Guadalupe, Henry and Andy Sanchez; sisters, Dolores Lola Montoya and Adelina Duran. He is survived by his wife, Celine Pacheco Sanchez; children, Jolyn Sanchez, Jose J. LUCY R. TRUJILLO, 91, of Santa Fe died Monday. She was a lifetime member of the Union Protectiva Femenina and was a homemaker.
She was a lifetime parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral and, in her early childhood, attended St. Francis Cathedral School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Trujillo Sr.; parents, Willie Rivera and Margarita Montoya Rivera; and sisters, Lena R. Bustos, Flora R. Rodriguez and Aurelia R. Gutierrez.

J. GILBERT ARCHULETA, 89, of the Española Valley died Sunday. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
