James Milton Army, 72, and a resident of Placitas for 34 years, died Monday, April 20, 1998 after a long illness. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving on submarines. He is survived by is wife of 53 years, Jeanne Army of Placitas; daughter, Leah Army Gragert; sons, Dana Army and wife Sandy of Placitas, Nick Army of Durham, NC, Garrett Army of Pine Bluff, AR.; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Lisa, Sandra, Dylan, Aaron, Emily, and Nicholas; four great grandchildren, Cheyanne, Cody, Daniella, and Elijah; sister, Phyllis, and brothers Dick and David of Indiana. Mr. Ignacio P. 'Nacho' Baca, 83, a resident of Pena Blanca, NM, passed away on April 18, 1998. Mr. Baca is survived by four daughters, Anita Cordova, Diane Baca, Lena Hodges and husband, Kena, and Marcella Baca; one son, Mel Baca; three sisters, Dora West, Josefita 'Pepa' Leyba, and Mary Baca; one brother, David Baca and wife, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Baca was preceded in death by two wives, Antonia Baca and Epifana Baca; two sons, Armando and Billy; four brothers, Richard, Trvino, Jose and Roman; and one sister, Melinda. Mr. Baca was a member of the Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and a recipient of the Silver Star Medal. He was a Sergeant in Company C. Infantry Regiment, for Galliantry in Action on August 16, 1944, near St. Mygulf, France. Supported by a tank, Sergeant Baca led his squad against an enemy pillbox whose 88MM gun and automatic weapons fire had slowed his company's advance. Although the tank was disabled by an enemy mine and Sergeant Baca was painfully wounded in both hands, he led his men forward in an aggressive assault on the strong point, which he reduced with a grenade and rocket fire. Sergeant Baca's galliant and resourceful conduct enabled his company to continue the attack and reflects credit on himself and his organization. Entered Military service from Pena Blanca, NM. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Pena Blanca with Charles Aguilar reciting. Visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with visitation at the church after 9:30 a.m. Father Hiliare Valiquette, Celebrant. Victor Wilson Brown, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died Thursday, April 16, 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Ann Baumbich and husband, George and his son, James Victor Brown; grandchildren, Bret Lee Haskins and Brian George Baumbich; siblings, Barbara Jean Brown, Theran Brown, Porter Brown and Vivian Srader and husband, Dave. Mr. Brown was the owner of Metal Stamping & Mfg. in Melrose Park, IL from 1945 until 1968, when he moved to Albuquerque and became the owner of American Laminating. Returning to his original trade in the early 70's he established Nelic Engineering, help found Precision Tool & Die, then Vic Brown Sales. Since 1996, Vic Brown Sales has been proudly operated by Bret Lee Haskins, his grandson and Billy Medcalf. Celso G. Carrillo, 87, passed away on Monday, April 20, 1998 in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Carrillo Horton; and son, Jessie Carrillo. He is also survived by his wife, Frances Carrillo; son, Leo Carrillo and wife, LuEllen; daughter, Dolores Carrillo Esquibel and husband, Levi; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Alicia A. Craft, 50, a resident of Tome, NM, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. She is survived by her mother, Alicia M. Craft; her sister, Brenda Zwickey; her brother, John Craft; and her nephew, Michael Zwickey, all of Katy, Texas; her ex-husband, Salomon Montano and his son, Eric Montano of Bosque, NM, and her special friend and care-giver, Liz Negrete of Belen, NM. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Craft. She was born on September 11, 1947 in Monroe, LA and graduated from High School there. She went on to graduate from Northeastern State University in LA. She worked for Valencia County and recently retired from the Risk Management Division of Bernalillo County. Alicia was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belen and Bobby Hansen's Sunday School Class. She loved the Lord and was a special friend to all who knew her. Paul Drake, 65, passed away April 20, 1998. He was a decorated Marine from the Korean War, and worked as a steel salesman. Rebecca Belle Gale named for her grandmother, Rebecca Jane Dungan, always called Reba, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. She was born on January 1, 1916. The day was cold and snowy which was unusual for Stockton, CA. The great depression influenced the rest of her life. Her parents lost $2000 in the bank and struggled through the depression years. She was thankful as they always had food on the table, but life was very hard. Reba graduated from Sonora High School in California in 1934. After moving to Alturus, CA with her parents, she met Richard (Dick) Loren Gale. On July 4, 1937, just six weeks after they had met, they were married. One of the highlights of her life was accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior. Reba and her young daughter were baptized in a small river in Crescent, OR. In 1974, after 37 years of marriage, Dick passed away suddenly. Reba moved to Hill AFB, UT to live with her daughter, Lorna, grandson, Jeffery, and son-in-law, Edward Woodard. They all moved to Kirtland AFB, NM in 1976. Reba became a member of Faith Lutheran Church in 1976. She especially enjoyed the 11:00 a.m. Contemporary Service on Sunday mornings. Oscar S. Iverson, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. He is survived by his son, Phillip D. Iverson and wife, Mary of Belen; granddaughters, Sorrel O. Burris and husband, Tom of Eden, WY, Drayanna L. Masingale and husband, Akard of Belen, and Lucinda L. Iverson of Tucson, AZ; great-granddaughter, Codi Lee Burris, and Brenna L. Edyth B. Malone, 96, died Friday, April 18, 1998 of a massive stroke. She was preceded in death by her husband and son. Mrs. Malone was successful in the real estate business in Flint, MI. Following retirement, she and her husband moved to Mesa, AZ. After her husband's death she moved to Albuquerque. Mrs. Malone was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and D.A.R. She is survived by her daughter and seven grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held in Michigan. Jean Reinier, 64, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Monday, April 20, 1998.
