Sherri Darlene Gibbs
March 10, 1969 - October 12, 2007
Prayer service for Sherrie Darlene Gibbs, 38, of Mescalero will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 6:00 PM in the Mescalero Community Center where the funeral will be on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 10:00 AM, burial will follow at the Saenz Family Cemetery.
Ms. Gibbs passed away Friday, Oct. 12, at her home. She was born March 10, 1969 at Mescalero, she lived at Texico until moving back to Mescalero in 1980. She attended the Carrizo Fellowship Church.
She is survived by her father, Winfred H. Gibbs; brothers and sisters, Loren Gibbs, Edison Dean, Pauline Chino, Jordan Torres, Brian Torres, Franklin Torres, Rochelle Martos, Coy Chino, John Chino, and Sharon Chino; niece and nephew, Nikki Gibbs and Destri Gibbs; sister-in-law, Carol Gibbs.

Mary Coyote Pena
January 5, 1932 - August 22, 2006
She moved to Mescalero in 1972 from Colorado. She was caretaker of Eagle Creek Recreation area and attended St. Joseph's Mission. She married Juan Pena Sr. on September 11, 1972 at Mescalero.
She is survived by her husband, Juan Pena Sr.; children, Winona Chimal, Lenora Kinzhuma, Phillip Coyote Jr., Marty Coyote, Laura Coyote, Teresa Coyote, Chris Coyote, Juan Pena Jr., Shaun Pena, and Rodney Pena; brother and sisters, Manuel Cata, Tonita Sandoval, Norma Garcia and Mary Bridges; 30 grandchildren with special grandchild Troy A. Pena and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Venesa Coyote.

Salomon Trujillo
October 30, 1928 - August 21, 2006
He had lived in Capitan all of his life. He served in the Army during Korea, was the former owner/operator of the Rodeo Bar and attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He married Dora Guevara on March 26, 1960 at Carrizozo.
He is survived by his wife, Dora of Capitan; a son, Andres Trujillo; brothers and sisters, Tommy Guevara, Paul Guevara, Gloria Sanchez, Mary Lopez, and Lasarito Guevara.

Ester Manuelita Baca
January 1, 1944 - August 25, 2006
She had lived in Otero County all of her life. She was a school bus driver for Blazer Bus Company, a bus driver for firefighters, and a cook. She attended St. Jopseph's Mission.
Survivors include her children, Johnny Mendez and his wife Janet of Mescalero, Robert Mendez and his wife Euginia of Mescalero, Chris Mendez of Bent, Nathaniel Kazhe of Tularosa, David Mendez and his wife Eva of Mescalero, Deland Kazhe and his wife Christina of Sacramento, California, Monica Kazhe and her husband Andre Dorame of Tularosa, Pete Shanta of Tularosa, Pablo Mendez and his wife Tammy of Tularosa, Carlos Mendez and his wife Diana of Tularosa; brothers, Julio Baca and his wife Bertha I. Baca of Bent and Tony Baca and his wife Bertha Baca of Tularosa; sister, Mary Baca and her husband William Bumpus of Tularosa; sister-in-law, Molly Baca; 46 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie R. Mendez; a daughter, Guadalupe Mendez; daughter-in-law, Veronica Mendez; granddaughter, Kayla Rose Mendez; brothers, Pedro Baca and Carmen Baca.
Pallbearers will be her sons, honorary pallbearers will be her daughters, daughters-in-law and all her grandchildren.

Dustin "Duck" Earl Pesewonit
January 24, 1981 - January 8, 2008
Visitation for Dustin Earl' Duck' Pesewonit, 26, of Mescalero will be Wednesday, Jan. 16, at LaGrone Funeral of Ruidoso from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. The prayer service will be Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the Mescalero Assembly of God Church, the funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 17, at 9:00 AM in the Mescalero Community Center Gym at Mescalero with burial to follow at the Chihuahua Wells Homestead Cemetery near White Tail.
Mr. Pesewonit passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, in El Paso. He was bjorn January 24, 1981 at Mescalero and had lived there all of his life. He was a snow boarding instructor at Ski Apache and attended the Mescalero Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his parents, Monte and Viola Morgan; his natural mother, Sharon F. Pesewonit; three brothers, Russell Shanta, Adolf Morgan and Joshua Morgan; 4 sisters, Charlene Shanta-Cojo, Shannon Shanta, Ramona Collazo and Jessica Collazo; a step-sister, Darwina "Jan" Morgan Castillo and ruby Morgan.

Ella May Pearman
July 3, 1909 - April 21, 2007
Funeral service for Ella May Pearman, 97, of Ruidoso will be Saturday, April 28, at 11:00 AM in the First Christian Church with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Pearman passed away Saturday, April 21, and was born July 3, 1909 at Fox, Oklahoma.
She moved to Ruidoso from Midland, Texas. She was retired beauty salon owner, had worked for the postal service in Alto, was a member of Philanthropic Educational Organization and First Christian Church. She married Raymond Pearman in 1950 in Lubbock, Texas and he precedes her in death.
She is survived by a brother, Irvin Butler of Potales; a sister, Betty Sturman of Hamilton, Virginia and 23 nieces and nephews.
The family has requested memorials to the First Christian Church of Philanthropic Educational Organization.

Steven Michael Chavez
Visitation for Steven Michael Chavez, 20, of Hondo will be at 4-7 p.m.Thursday, March 22, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso. The Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday March 23, at the Hondo School in Hondo where the funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday
Mr. Chavez was born Nov. 21, 1986 in Kileen, Texas to Novelda and Eddie Chavez and had lived all of his life in the Hondo Valley. He graduated from Hondo High School in 2005. He loved the outdoors, football and music. He joined the Marine Corp and was serving in Iraq when he passed away March 14, 2007 at Ar Ramadi, Iraq.
He is survived by his parents, Eddie and Novelda Chavez; a sister, Jackie Chavez; a brother, Jaime Chavez; his grandparents, Melvin and Priscilla Chavez, Lorena and Larry Andre and Annie Pena; a great grandmother, Inez Romero.

Carroll Zane Reed
Carroll Reed passed away April 12, 2007 at this home surrounded by the love of his family. Carroll was born on Dec. 21, 1939 to Pellom and Grace Reed in Dexter. He attended school in Lovington.
Reed joined the Army Reserve at the age of 18 and later joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged in 1962. There he met and married Suzanne Moyer. He is survived by his wife of the family home; two sons, Kevin Lynn and Evan Lee Reed; eight grandchildren, eighteen nieces and nephews; a host of bowling and oil field friends in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California and Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his son, Carroll Z. Reed, Jr.; a daughter, Deborah Samora, and his parents.
The memorial services for Carroll Reed scheduled for Saturday, April 21 at First Assembly of God Church in Ruidoso have been canceled due to the death of Pastor Stacy Brankle's father. Friends and family gathered for a memorial service April 15 at the Ruidoso Bowling Center.

Laura Cunningham
Laura Delling Cunningham passed peacefully on April 20, 2008, in her sleep of natural causes at her home in Silver City. A memorial service was held for her on April 26, in Silver City. Her ashes were scattered the following day, by her beloved husband Jared Cunningham, at the Lower Galinas.
Laura was born Nov. 26, 1967, in Houston, Texas, and was raised in Ruidoso where she attended middle and high school. She was a young mother of four children, whom she raised in New Mexico as well.
She married Jared O. Cunningham on June 11, 2002 in Silver City, where they lived. She was a loving wife and mother and cherished her grandchildren. Those who knew her also know of her beautiful artwork and her deep compassion for friends and family.
Laura is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jared O. Cunningham of Silver City; her four children Valerie, Tiffany, Jamie and Drew Wilson, all of Ruidoso; her parents, John and Bethany Delling of Reno, Nev.; and her sister Heather Delling Rossfeld and her husband John Paul of Birch Bay, Wash.; and her three grandchildren residing in Ruidoso as well.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Women's Cancer Network at www.wcn.org or to HEAL Inc. at www.healinc.org to help Ruidoso's local domestic abuse shelter.

Floydean Cagle
Mrs. Floydean Cagle, 65, of O'Donnell, Texas peacefully departed this lifeSunday, Oct. 7, 2007, in Lubbock.
She was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Draw to Floyd Martin Jackson and Lois "Morgan" Jackson.
Floydean attended school in Draw and O'Donnell. She was a life-long resident of O'Don-nell area.
Floydean married Jan Cagle in O'Do-nnell, Feb. 3, 1968.
She was a homemaker.
She loved her family and visiting with friend. Floydean was a member of the First Baptist Church in O'Donnell.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Jan; two sons, Keith Cagle and wife Telisha of O'Donnell, and Jerry Wayne Cagle and wife Terra of Lamesa, Texas; two granddaughters, Ashlyn Jo Cagle and Sydney Brown; one brother, Marty Wayne Jackson of Ruidoso; and one sister, Nita Tipps of Ruidoso.
Mrs. Cagle was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, two sisters, Irma Lee Proctor and Mickie Martin.
The family will greet friends Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at White Funeral Home in Tahoka from 6-8 pm.
Funeral servics were held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in O'Donnell with Rev. Scott Hensley officiating.
Interment was in O'Donnell Cemetery.

Rosa Murl Hunter McKee
Rosa Murl Hunter McKee was born Sept. 23, 1910, and went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 19, 2007, at the age of 97.
She was born in Brandsville, Mo., to the late John Houston and Rosalie Wall Hunter. She was a graduate of Ar-kansas State Uni-versity and a retired school teacher.
She retired from Fairacres Elemen-tary School in Las Cruces.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Henry McKee.
Also surviving, a daughter Rosalie Spangler, brother Rev. Wilbur Hunter of West Plains, Mo., a sister-in-law and husband, Ruth and Don Powell of Mammoth Spring, Ark.
She had seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand daughter.
Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Preceding Mrs. McKee in death were her parents, sisters Olive Kentner, Bea Hunter, brothers Earl Hunter and Clifford Hunter, sons Jon Harvey McKee and Donald A. McKee.
A visitation was held Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, at East Mesa Baptist Church where Rosa's funeral service followed at 10 a.m. with Roland Burnett Pastor of Canaan Trail Baptist Church in Alto and Brother Linville Tisdale Pastor of East Mesa Baptist Church in Las Cruces officiating.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Lee Correa, Jimmy Littleton, Roy Littleton, Robert McKee, Cody Correa and Trey Correa.
Arrangements were by Getz Funeral Home, corner of Solano and Bowman Avenue in Las Cruces.
