Ramona Sanchez
Ramona Otero Sanchez, 94, passed away on Sept. 27, 2006, at Memorial General Hospital in Las Cruces. Her Otero genealogical line has been traced back to early 1700s when they lived in the Belen-Tome area of New Mexico, then a part of New Spain. She was born on Feb. 14, 1912 in Patos, Lincoln County, New Mexico to parents Antonio Otero and Emiliana Zamora Otero. Ramona Otero married Salo-mon Sanchez in 1933 in Carrizozo, NM. Ramona and Salomon moved their family to Carrizozo in 1942 from the W. R.Lovelace Ranch near Corona. After the war, they owned a nine-section goat ranch in the Malpais near Carrizozo. At the same time they owned the Depot Cafe next to the Railroad Station and the Burton Fuel Yard business in Carrizozo.
Survivors include only her younger sister, Sally Otero Garcia and husband Ray of Albuquerque from a family of seven. Ramona has one step-daughter, Faviola Dalton and husband Ben of Capitan, NM; two daughters, Mary Olida Vullo and husband Ralph of Tularosa, NM, and Lorena Baroz and husband Ralph of Carrizozo, NM; one step-son, Orlando Sanchez of Tucson, AZ and two sons, Elmon Sanchez and wife Viola of Bosque, NM, and Ernest J. Sanchez and wife Bernadette of Las Cruces. There are 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband Salomon G. Sanchez, her brothers, Pablo Otero, Federico Otero, and Ernesto Otero and her sisters, Anita Carabajal and Nellie Rael precede her in death.
The pallbearers will be Henry D. Sanchez, Ernie Sanchez Jr., Michael Baroz, Joshua Vega, Bobby Garcia, and Salomon Baroz. The honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Detreaux, Norman Allen, Jr., Thomas Kuehne, Albert Ascarate, Jeff Morgan, Javier Sanchez and Greg Powers.
She was a member of the Santa Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo. A visitation was held before the Rosary on Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Santa Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo. The funeral liturgy followed on Monday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Santa Rita Catholic Church with Father John Peterson from St. Francis de Paula Church in Tularosa officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Carrizozo.

Sara Jackson
A service of celebration for Sara A. Jackson will be held at the Ancho Cemetery on Friday, the 6th of Oct., at 11 am. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Aiello.
Mrs. Jackson passed away on Tuesday, October 3rd at her family home.
She was born November 21, 1927 in El Paso, Texas to Walter L. Silvers and Lucy Straley Silvers, who precede her in death. Sara operated "My House of Old Thing" which her mother founded in 1966. She also followed her mother "Jackie" as Ancho Post Mistress. She attended the Ancho Community Presbyter-ian Church and was a founding member.
Sara married L. Y. Jackson on July 11, 1947 at El Paso, TX
Sara is survived by her husband L. Y. Jackson, her daughter Dee Ann Posey and her husband Gerald of Grants, NM, her son Leland Jackson of Ruidoso Downs, NM; one grandson Tyke Posey and his wife Jamie, two great-granddaughters, Kel-lyn and Kendra Posey and their mother Gina Posey and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her beloved grandson G.W. Posey.
Pallbearers Bill Hightower, Gary Hightower, Paul Baca, Rex Wilson, Pete Gnatkowsky, John Vega; Honorary Pall-bearers Ancho and Lincoln County Community.
In Lieu of flowers gifts in her memory can be given to Ancho Community Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice.

Shirley Kane
Visitation for Shirley A. Kane, 65, of Mescalero will be Friday, Oct. 6, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso from 2 - 4 p.m. The prayer service is 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6 at the Mescalero Reformed Church where the funeral mass will be on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. with burial to follow at White Tail Cemetery.
Ms. Kane passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1941, at Ft. Wingate, NM and has lived in Mescalero since 1978, moving from Grants, NM. She was working at the Holiday Inn Express in hospitality.
She is survived by a son, Sterlen Kane, Jr. and his wife Marcene of Mescalero; a daughter, Selena L. Chino and her husband Mark of Mescalero; a brother, Joseph Greene, Jr. of Polacca, Arizona; three grandsons, Jesse A. Reed, Keenan Kane, and Kolby Kane; two great-grandsons, Camren Reed and Aiden Reed.

Crusita Montoya
Prayer service for Crusita "Big Mom" Montoya, 77, of Ruidoso Downs will be Friday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. in St. Eleanor's Catholic Church where the funeral mass will be on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at the San Ysidro Cemetery at Glencoe.
Mrs. Montoya passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Albu-querque. She was born May 18, 1929 at Ruidoso Downs and had lived in Lincoln County all of her life. She was well-known, well-traveled and loved by all. She knew no strangers, new acquaintences instantly and became friends. She was the backbone of our family and will be deeply missed. She attended St. Eleanor's Catholic Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Josie Herrera and her husband Roger, Gloria Castillo, and Lisa Sanchez and her husband Richard; a sister-in-law, Leona Montoya; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, 1 brother and numerous nieces and nephews and her longtime companion Max Chavez and his daughter and son.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Candido Montoya, Sr.; parents, Meliton and Concha Sanchez; sons, Candido Montoya, Jr. and James Montoya and daughter, Donna Sue Montoya.
Arrangements are with LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

Edward Bartholomew
Bartholomew, Edward R. (Bart), 66, a resident of Jarales, NM, passed away on Sept. 29, 2006. He is survived by his four daughters and their spouses, Regina Ahern and Tim of Medical Lake; Wash., Renee Barros and Robert of Albuquerque, Rita Barth-olomew and Patrick O'Meara of Roswell, and Raquel Gould and Billy of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Tim Ahern, Jr., Steven Bartholomew, Candace Richardson, Alicia Sachs, Michael Gurule, Ryan Gould, great grandson Connor Ahern and a very dear and loving family friend Alice Solomon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Bartholomew.
Raised in Englewood, Fla., Bart joined the Army and saw the world. He retired from the Army in 1978 and then went to work as a radiographer in Albuquerque and later on in Ruidoso, NM. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed traveling.
The family would like to thank all their relatives and friends for their kind expression of sympathy extended to them during their bereavement. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Oct., 8, 2006, at 12 noon in Ruidoso, NM, at the Flying J Ranch.

Martha Milburn Allen
May 30, 1931 - May 12, 2007
Graveside service for Martha Milburn Allen, 75, of Ruidoso will be Friday, May 18, at 3:00 PM in Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Vern Edmondson officiating. Ms. Allen passed away Saturday, May 12, at her home. She was born May 30, 1931 in Clovis to Polly and Arthur Milburn. She lived in Clovis until 1966 when she moved to Lubbock and at the age of 50 became a Registered Nurse thru the Methodist Hospital program. She moved to Ruidoso in 1994 where she had loved the mountains since her childhood. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Ruidoso.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Jordan of Ruidoso; a son, Steven Foster of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a brother, George Milburn and his wife, Lynda of Clovis; 3 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren and many friends.
The family has requested memorials to Ruidoso Hospice Foundation or your favorite charity.

Sara "Janie" Jane Goodrum
April 7, 1930 - June 6, 2007
Memorial service for Janie Goodrum, 77, of Capitan will be Monday, June 11, at 11:00 AM in Lagrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso. Mrs. Goodrum passed away Wednesday, June 6, in Ruidoso, she was born April 7, 1930 in Dexter, New Mexico and moved to Lincoln County in 1961 from Dexter. She attended the Methodist Chruch and was homemaker. She married Ed Goodrum on July 22, 1951 at Dexter, New Mexico.
She is survived by her husband Ed; three children, Eddie Goodrum of Bixby, Oklahoma, Bill Goodrum of Capitan and Jacqui Gonzales of Capitan; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Bobby Ray Turner
April 23, 1950 - June 11, 2007
Bobby Ray Turner, 57, of Ruidoso passed away Monday, June 11, at his home. He was born April 23, 1950 at Floydada, Texas to Edith and Virgil Turner. He served in the Army during Vietnam, was a drilling fluids engineer and moved to Ruidoso eight years ago from Carlsbad. He married Gail Rudder on February 4, 1999 in Lubbock.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; brothers and sisters, Dee Turner and his wife, Charlene of Levelland, Texas, Dean Turner of Colorado City, Texas, Leta Casbeer and her husband Jessie of Lubbock, Texas, Lavern Bone and her husband Fred of Plano, Texas, Dan Turner and his wife, Diane of Breckenridge, Texas; children, Scott and his wife Jenny, Mat and his wife Geneva, and Carrie; grandchildren, Jessie, Mark and Jaydon and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Turner. He was also blessed with many friends such as Bob Reynolds, Carol Roller, Erik Siegel, Mary Ann Siegel, Jim Russ, Nelda Nadine, Kim and Nancy Donaldson, Cam, Babs, and Kymie, Father John, Carla Caveness, Ginny Archambault, Donna Reyes, Earl Rudder, and his "Brothers In Arms" worldwide.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Sherwin "Kirby" Balatche-Magoosh
April 11, 1954 - June 14, 2007
Prayer service for Sherwin "Kirby" Balatche-Magoosh, 53, of Mescalero will be Friday, June 15, at 6:00 PM in St. Joseph's Mission at Mescalero where the funeral mass will be on Saturday, June 16, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
Mr. Balatche-Magoosh passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007 in Mescalero.
He was born April 11, 1954 in Mescalero to Linda Lou Balatche-Magoosh and Gerald Magoosh Sr., his mother precedes him in death.
He had lived in Mescalero all of his life and worked various jobs in the Mescalero area which include working at Sierra Blanca Ski resort as a lift operator, the Recreation Department with the late Riley Chino and with the night crew at the community center.
He left Mescalero briefly to attend and graduate from a heavy equipment operator school in Chicago, Illinois.
When he returned to Mescalero he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, golfing and hanging out with friends and family but his real passion was singing with the Chee family or the Botella family at various blessings and cremonials, and of course you can't forget the 49's he participated in. Any feast gathering you saw Kirby at he always had a drum in hand ready to sing.
He is survived by his father, Gerald Magoosh Sr.; sisters, Beverdine Tortilla, Debra Morgan and her husband Aldridge, Gerlinda Coonie and her husband Hubert Sr., Myra LaPaz, and Garnett LaPas; brothers, Gerald Magoosh Jr., Lionel Magoosh and his wife, Cathy, Christie LaPaz Jr. and his wife Pearlita, Patrick LaPaz and his wife Emma; aunts and uncles, Velda and Daniel Garcia Sr., Ceda and Joseph Shanta, Elaine Valdez, Nadina Rice, Sandra Balatche, Ester Balatche and Fawn Via, William Magoosh III, Quintin Balatche, Cordell and Rita Balatche, Norbert and Janice Via and numerous nephews and nieces.

Victoria Davis
February 21, 1949 - June 16, 2007
Visitation for Victoria Davis, 58, of Mescalero will be Tuesday, June 19, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. The prayer service will be Tuesday at 6:00 PM in the Mescalero Assembly of God Church where the funeral will be on Wednesday, June 20, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
Victoria passed away Saturday, June 16, in Mescalero, she was born February 21, 1949 at Mescalero and had lived there all of her life. She worked as the gatekeeper at the Mescalero Camp site in the upper canyon. She married Jimmy Davis on February 2, 1978 in Mescalero.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Davis; children, Lisa Chino, Raul Davis, Robin Davis and Josh Davis; sisters, Leta Blazer, Kita Saenz, Harriet Aguilar, and Mary Jane Chino; brothers, Fredrick Chino, Roden Chino, and Terrell Chino; 9 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Ruben Chino.

Emmanuel Gallegos
August 10, 2007 - August 11, 2007
Graveside service for Emmanuel Gallegos, 1 day old infant son of Maria and Ismael Gallegos of Ruidoso Downs was Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 10:00 AM at the Ruidoso-Hondo Valley Cemetery. Emanuel was born Friday, August 10, in Ruidoso then airlifted to Albuquerque where he passed away Saturday, August 11. He is also survived by a brother, Miguel Angel Gallegos and a sister, Marlene Paula Gallegos.

Manuela M. Flores
August 1, 1929 - August 29, 2007
Visitation for Manuela M. Flores, 78, of Alamogordo and formerly of Ruidoso will be Thursday, Aug. 30, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso. The funeral mass will be Friday, Aug. 31, at 10:00 AM in St. Eleanor's Catholic Church in Ruidoso at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Flores passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, in Alamogordo. She was born August 1, 1929 at La Ochoa, Durango, Mexico. She moved to the Ruidoso-Alamogordo areas in 1975 from Durango, Mexico. She was a housewife and a member of the Catholic Church. She married Miguel A. Flores in 1961 at Durango, Mexico.
She is survived by her husband, Miguel; her children, Braulio Montelongo and his wife Sheila, Abel Montelongo and his wife Priscilla, Tonia Nevarez and her husband Luis, Guillermina Marquez and her husband Jose, Aureliano Rodriguez and his wife Maria, Javier Rodruguez, Estrella Quirarte and her husband Willie, Miguel Flores Jr. and his wife Doris, Pedro Flores, Rosalia Ardic and her husband Aytac, and Citalic Pino and her husband Darrin; 32 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Rosarita Ann Smith
June 18, 1937 - September 3, 2007
Rosary for Rosarita Ann "Valdez" Smith, 70, of Three Rivers will be Thursday, Sept. 6, at 9:00 AM in St. Joseph's Mission where the funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
Rosarita went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2007. She was born at the Elk district on the Mescalero Reservation on June 18, 1937. She lived most of her life at Three Rivers. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Marden and a son Paul A. Valdez. Survivors include a sister, Andrea Gallerito and her husband Frank; a brother, David Marden; her children, Annette House, Melba Saenz and her husband Henry, Lyle Valdez, Robert Mendez, Frankie Gonzalez, Jordan Valdez and his wife Barbara, James Valdez, Rose J. Walker and her husband Eddy, Violet B. Parks and her husband Calvin, Edith Walker and her husband Jarod, Jamie Valdez, Cecilia Valdez, Warren Veldez, and P.J. Valdez; 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
