CHARLES NORMAN DODD
Charles Norman Dodd, 87, of Mountainair passed away Oct. 1, 2007, in Albuquerque.
Charles was born April 30, 1920, in Washington, D.C., to Charles Francis and Maggie Edna (MarDres) Dodd.
Charles was a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; two brothers; and three sisters.
Charles is survived by one son; three daughters; sisters, Joan McDonald and husband Jay, Jean Parker; and one grandchild. Arrangements for cremation entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, Mountainair.
RAY L. HALDERMAN
Ray L. Halderman, 78, a longtime Torrance County rancher, died at his home in Palma, N.M., on Oct. 13, 2007.
Ray was born April 4, 1929, at Palma, the son of Edwin Channing Halderman and the former Ellie Russell. Ray was raised at Palma and Encino, where he attended school. He was a lifelong cattle rancher.
Ray married Joyce McMath on Oct. 3, 1950, in Santa Rosa. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
Ray served on the Encino Village Council for 21 years and on the Torrance County Commission for six years. He enjoyed riding his horses and loved playing the "Marble Game" with his grandchildren.
Ray was a World War II Army veteran assigned to Company H, Third Battalion, 16th Infantry. His military occupation was heavy machine gunner. He received the Army Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Ray was honorably discharged on March 19, 1948.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Halderman of the home in Palma; four sons, Edwin Albert Halderman and wife Cheryl of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wesley Bud Halderman and wife Janine of Moriarty, Kenneth Doyle Halderman and wife Becky of Palma, and Andy Dee Halderman and wife Cindy of Shiner, Texas; two daughters, Dorothy Ray Halderman of Williamsburg, N.M., and Anna May Halderman of Moriarty; 10 grandchildren; Ray's mother-in-law, Cleo McMath of Truth or Consequences; three sisters, Elsie Burton of Vaughn, Mary Ellen Richmond and husband Paul of Las Cruces, and Betty Lou Houston and husband Vernon of Socorro; and one brother, John E. Halderman and wife Jane of Riverside, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Ellie Cleo Halderman, in 1951; and a brother, Roy Halderman.
Funeral services were held Oct. 16 from the Encino School Gym with Marvin Marquez officiating. Burial followed at Encino Cemetery.

ROY LEE CAIN
Roy Lee Cain, 96, of Mountainair passed away Oct. 17, 2007, at her home in Mountainair.
Roy Lee was born Nov. 10, 1910, in Midland, Texas, to Leroy and Ann Lee (Brumley) Wright. Roy Lee married E. Von Cain on Sept. 13, 1929; he preceded her in death in 1992.
Roy Lee was also preceded in death by her parents and grandsons, Ludwig Von Tabing and Eric Randolph Cain.
Roy is survived by her son, Roy Von Cain and wife Joyce of Mountainair; daughters, Margaret McKinley and husband Weldon of Belen, and Sherrill Tabing of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held Saturday at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Mountainair with Doris Jaquis and Roy Von Cain officiating. Interment took place at Mountainair Cemetery in Mountainair.

ANN MARTIN
Ann (Angel) Martin passed away Oct. 16, 2007.
Angel spent many years living in the East Mountains and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her partner in life of 20 years, Ricky Drury; her son, Anthony Nash and wife Josiann Nash; grandchildren, Shelli, Samone and Piers, all of Albuquerque; her mother, Elizabeth Holley; and a brother, Doug Holley and wife Neida Holley and their children, Joshua and Anthony, all of Rio Rancho.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Holley; brother, Scott Holley; and two very close friends, Gi-Gi Scheiber and Rev. Jack (MadJack) Kaplan. She is also survived by many dear friends and extended family members.
DAVID WOODLING
David Woodling, 44, of Cedar Crest passed away unexpectedly in an accident on Oct. 25, 2007.
David is survived by his wife of 19 years, Suzanne; their daughter, Kimberlee; his parents, Reese and Nancy Woodling of Tucson, Ariz.; his sister, Anne Woodling and husband Jerry Humble of Las Cruces; nephew, Ryan; and niece, Lauren Humble.
David had many wonderful friends and business associates and was loved.

ARTHUR E. NIGH
Arthur E. Nigh, 96, passed away Oct. 25, 2007 at his home in Edgewood.
He was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Modena, Mo. He was one of six children, and had three children of his own: two sons and a daughter.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Nigh; son, Ed Nigh and wife Billy; daughter, Sharon Gregory and husband James; grandchildren, Joann and husband Tim; Donald; Tia; Lesley and husband Raymond; Jeff and wife Sarah; Jr.; Larry; Brandon; Carrol; Gary; Gail; and Wayne; and many great-grandchildren.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard; and five siblings.
A memorial service will be held today at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church off Lesley Lane in Edgewood.
VERDIE MAXINE STONE
Verdie Maxine Stone, 89, of Moriarty passed away Oct. 25, 2007 at her home in Moriarty.
Verdie was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Tulsa, Okla., to Farley and Willie (Sego) Hana.
Verdie is survived by her sons, Ronald Stone of Moriarty, Russell A. Stone of California, Gerald R. Stone of Idaho, and James L. Stone of California; daughters, Naja Hofbaver of Moriarty and Doris Hasler of California; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Thomas; and son, Roy Stone.
