GENEVIEVE S. BACA, 75, of Las Vegas, N.M. died Friday at Vida Encantada Nursing Facility. She was born to the late Manuel Sanchez and Sarita (Sarah) Garcia Sanchez. A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and retired from JC Penney in Las Vegas, N.M. where she was known to her customers by her warm smile. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Juan "Johnny" Sanchez. She is survived by her son, Mark Baca and wife Mary Alice of Moriarty; sisters and brothers, Caroline Maestas and husband Frank of Roy, Manuel Sanchez and wife Anita of Albuquerque, and Rosie Herrera and husband Alfred of Las Vegas, N.M.; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at the same church. SIMON "JIMMIE" BUSTAMANTE, 84, of Las Vegas, N.M. died Sunday at St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe. He was born in Raton to the late Frederico and Delia Bustamante. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant with amphibious engineers in the Aleutian Islands. He was awarded the ATO Medal, APTO Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. In 1946 after being discharged from military service he worked at the Dead Horse Ranch in Ribera, then he and his father built the Bustamante Club, also known as the Sunshine Club. In 1955 he opened Whites Auto Store on 6th Street in Las Vegas, N.M. In 1965 he and his brother Pete opened up the Highlander Restaurant. He was employed for several years by the New Mexico State Land Office. After his retirement he worked part time for Quality Chevrolet. In 1956 he was elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives for San Miguel County where he served for eight years. During his last two years as a representative he was appointed Majority Whip for the House. He served two terms as San Miguel county assessor, served as vice chairman for the State Parks Advisory Board under Gov. Bruce King and served on the Planning and Zoning Committee in Las Vegas for 17 years. He was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks where he served as an exalted ruler and also was a member of the VFW post #1547. He enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family. He is survived by his daughters, Patsy Pacheco and husband Wil of Las Vegas, N.M. and Jane Carley and husband Rick of Albuquerque; sons, Jimmy Bustamante and Danny Bustamante and wife Loretta, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; mother of his children, Pita Rivera of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Rose Miller of Moor Park, Calif., Katie Sena and husband Fidel of Albuquerque and Ramona Martinez and husband Alex of Santa Fe; brother, Pete Bustamante and wife Mary of Las Vegas, N.M.; special friends, Irene Bailey of Modesto, Calif. and Patricia Bustamante of Tucson; and many other relatives and friends. ADELE HANDS CATANACH of Los Alamitos died Sunday. She was a beloved mother and grandmother. She was born in Los Alamitos. She was a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital, the School for the Deaf and Headstart. She was a private duty nurse, a devout Catholic and an active member of the Altar Society of St. Francis Cathedral and Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was a lifetime member of La Confradia de la Conquistadora and a founding member of Perpetual Adoration Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe. PATRICIO MARCIAL TRUJILLO, 61, of Mora died Monday. He was born in Mora to the late Waldo T. Trujillo and Refugio Maes. He retired from the Carpenters Union #1353 in Santa Fe where he was employed as carpenter. He enjoyed landscaping, dancing, fishing and gambling. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of St. Gertrude's Church in Mora. He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo T. and Refugio Trujillo; and brothers, Luciano Truillo, Roberto Luis Trujillo and Jacob Rudy Trujillo. NICK F. CATANACH, 42, of Santa Fe died Aug. 21, 2005, of cancer.
He served in the U.S. Army and served our country in Operation Desert Storm from 1989-1991. After the military, he obtained a degree in land surveying and formed his own business, Precision Land Surveying. He was known to many in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico and could frequently be seen outdoors surveying land with his father, Marcos. Nick's love for his children was boundless, and he was known as a very loving father, son and brother.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, James.
He is survived by his children, Zeke and Sara Catanach; parents, Marcos and Lila Catanach of Santa Fe; sisters, Dolores and husband Mike of Florida, Margo Pike and husband Steve of Tucson and Bonnie Catanach of Tucson; brothers, Joseph of Santa Fe, Danny of New York, Rick of Bernalillo, and Greg and wife Diana of Santa Fe; special friend, Carolyn Brooks; and many other relatives and friends.

JOSEPHINE "JOSIE" GRIEGO-BACA of Santa Fe died Aug. 22, 2005, from cancer.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Santa Fe. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved to swim, sew, garden and fish. She was a wonderful homemaker since her mother passed away when she was 13 years old. She was active in her faith praying the rosary daily and holding vigil with the Blessed Sacrament over the years. She supported and was a follower of St. Jude and Our Blessed Mother. Since her childhood, she loved participating in the annual novena masses to Our Lady, La Conquistadora. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe church all her life. She had a gentle, peaceful, and loving nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Elizaria Griego; and brother, Juanito Griego.
She is survived by her husband, Carlos G. Baca; children, Angie Baca, Henry "Hank" and wife June Baca of Rio Rancho, Danny Baca and Ramona Valdez, Lawrence Baca of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Helen Apodaca, Jerry C. Baca; sister, Pauline and husband Abel Vigil; brother, Antonio and wife Carmen Griego; 14 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

JOSE ENRIQUE "HENRY" DE HERRERA, 84, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Aug. 21, 2005, at Alta Vista Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was a former resident of Rowe and Mora County. He was born in Wagon Mound. He entered the U.S. Army Dec. 11, 1942, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 30, 1943. For 56 years, he was a lumberjack in Mora and San Miguel County. His friends and close associates nicknamed him Vice Grip. He was active in the San Miguel County Democratic Party and served the county as a deputy sheriff from 1966 until 1969. He loved horses and enjoyed simulcast horse racing, going to the casinos and playing poker with his buddies. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was a member of the Reina de Los Cielos Choir directed by Geraldine Pacheco. He was involved with his sons in the landscaping business and taught the family his work ethic. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Floripa Garcia Herrera; daughters, Beatrice and Anabella De Herrera; son, Joe Henry De Herrera Jr.; brothers, Leandro, Pantelleon, Maximilliano, Epifanio, Marcelino, and Frank De Herrera Jr.; and sisters, Julia Garcia and Floripa Cordova.
He is survived by his sons, Benjamin De Herrera and wife Pam of Santa Fe, Frank "Chico" De Herrera and wife Flora and Ignacio De Herrera and wife Laurie, all of Rowe, Richard Garcia and fiancee Michelle Benavidez of Santa Fe, Lucio Garcia and wife Beth of Las Vegas, N.M., and Enrique De Herrera Jr., and fiancee Nicole Sandoval of Rociada; daughters, Henrietta De Herrera and husband Mel Torres of Rowe, Irene Acosta and husband Raymond of Rio Rancho, Roma Rivera and fiance Leroy Martinez of Cleveland, N.M., Rosita Valdez and husband Richard and Elsie De Herrera and friend Arturo Fierro, all of Rowe; sisters, Charlotte Baca of Albuquerque and Alice Garcia of Las Vegas, N.M.; special friends, Esther A.
