ADELA MARTINEZ, 88, of Cañon Plaza died Aug. 24 after a long illness.
She was a very good cook and loved music and dancing. She loved her grandchildren very much. She worked hard on her ranch and was a great gardener. She always had her house and windows full of flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Martinez; sister, Julia and Teresa Gurule; and brothers, Leontino, Ismael and Andronico.
She is survived by her children, Adolfo Martinez and wife Josie, Aaron Martinez Jr. and companion Jenny, all of Cañon Plaza and Lorraine and Louella Martinez; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 27 at the same chapel, with burial to follow at the Cañon Plaza Cemetery in Cañon Plaza.

RAMON NANATO MARTINEZ, 54, of Rociada died Aug. 24 after a brief illness.
He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., to Juan Filemon and Martina M. Ortiz Martinez. After his early education, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an ammunition specialist during the Vietnam War. He was with the First Marine Division, Company M, 3rd Battalion based out of Camp Pendelton, Calif. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, and a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 8, 1970. After the service, he went to a heavy equipment school and worked in Albuquerque. He worked for Associated Grocers in Colorado and was a truck driver from 1972 until 1985. For the next six years, he worked for George Lyster Construction Co. and then worked for B.T.U. Block and Concrete for seven years, and then he went with Elbar Trucking in Albuquerque until he retired in January of 2003. His hobbies included hunting, riding horses, and spending time with his family and helping them whenever he could. He was a member of San Juan Argonne Post #1547 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Martinez of Rociada; daughters, Tammy J. Lujan and husband Lawrence and Leora R. Gomez and husband Raymond, all of Cleveland, N.M., and Bianca A. Martinez of Rociada; sons, Nathan L. Martinez and wife Roxanne, Justin L. Martinez, Steven Martinez, Ramon F. Martinez, and Jonathan I. Martinez, all of Rociada; mother, Martina M. Martinez of Rociada; brothers, John L. Martinez and wife Elizabeth of Santa Fe, Daniel A. Martinez and wife Debbie of Española, Albert G. Martinez and Gregory T. Martinez and wife Georgia, all of Rociada; sisters, Rebecca Tafoya of Rociada, and Elizabeth Apodaca and husband Crist and Corina Gurule and husband Kenneth, all of Denver; 13 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

LUCY C. OCANA, 80, of Santa Cruz died Aug. 24 after a long illness.
She was born in Santa Cruz. She was a second grade teacher at the Holy Cross School in Santa Cruz. She was a homemaker for most of her life and loved to work in the garden. She also loved to sing in church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Justo and Petrita Borrego; mother, Eloisa Archuleta; and brothers, Felipe, Juan Andres, and Eufemio Archuleta.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela Archuleta and husband Dan of Santa Cruz, Rita Martinez and husband Michael of Huntington, Pa., Christine Sandoval and husband David of Truchas; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 27 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Santa Cruz.

He was born in Croswell, Mich. He was an architect and engineer in Santa Fe since 1948.

MOISES ARCHULETA, 98, of El Rito died Aug. 30.
He was an avid hunter, sportsman and rancher. He worked for the Zia Company for 23 years. He helped to build the Northern New Mexico State School and was a founder of Las Clinicas del Norte.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella Archuleta; sons, Teofilo and Camillo Archuleta; and parents, Pedro and Cresencia Archuleta.
He is survived by his children, Crezencio Archuleta and wife Gail of Santa Fe, Romie Oselio of Albuquerque, Floraida Martinez and husband Augustine, Isabel Siqueiros and husband Beto, Ted Archuleta and wife Frances, George Archuleta and wife Frances, Pete Archuleta and wife Grace, Rudy Archuleta, Moises Archuleta Jr. and wife Genara, Steve Archuleta, Tony Archuleta and wife Janet, all of El Rito, and Genara Archuleta of Rio Chama; 37 grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Lucero of El Rito and Ernestine Silva of Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.
Cremation is being planned. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Sept. 2 at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with burial to follow at the Grotto of San Juan Nepomuceno Church.

ROSITA R. LOVATO, 85, of Española died Aug. 31 after a short illness.
She worked as a nurse in Los Alamos and retired from the state of New Mexico. Her favorite hobby was putting together puzzles. She loved watching western movies (her favorite actor was Clint Eastwood and her favorite movie was "Titanic"). Most of all, she loved her bizcochitos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lovato; parents, Benito and Josefia Rendon; and brothers, Manuel and Jose Rendon.
She is survived by her children, Gilbert Lovato and wife Dora of Rio Rancho, Benny Lovato and wife Linda of Española, Darlene Mares of Santa Fe and Donald Lovato and wife Ana of California; 14 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Sept. 6, time pending, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española with burial to follow at 11 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
