ANNALYSIYA ALANA PADILLA, 6 days old, of Española, died unexpectedly Tuesday.
She is survived by her parents, Demmitress Lawrence and Joseph Michael Padilla; and many other relatives and friends.
A devotional service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Victory Faith Church in Española. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayó with burial to follow at the Nuestra Senora de Dolores cemetery in Chimayó.

RICHARD E. VALDEZ, 66, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Monday at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born and raised in Las Vegas. She attended the Immaculate Conception School. She married Severino Valdez Jr. in Las Vegas, N.M., in 1958. She retired as a food service director for the West Las Vegas Schools. Her hobbies included joyful times with her grandchildren, cooking, helping and praying for everyone. She especially enjoyed her family, insuring that they were all taken care of physically and spiritually. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Celina Bustos Pena; sisters, Charlotte Lucero and Marcella Tafoya; and brother Felipe Pena Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Severino Valdez Jr. of the family home; sons, Mike Valdez and wife, Anna, and Frank Valdez and wife, Diana, all of Las Vegas, N.M., and Felipe Valdez and wife, Terri, of Edgewood; brother, Tony Pena and wife, Cecilia, of Las Vegas, N.M.; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with burial to follow in the family plot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

LEOPOLDO "POLO" J. GABALDON, 71, of Las Vegas, N.M. died March 5, 2005, following a brief illness.
He was born in Ojitos Frios to Filiberto Gabaldon and Alicia Aragon. He was married to Corrine Baca in 1960 at St. Joseph's Church in Anton Chico. He retired in 1997 from the Las Vegas Medical Center, where he was employed as a cook. Prior to working at the Medical Center, he had positions at the Santa Fe Railroad and the Canon Air Force Base in Clovis. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking care of his grandchildren, attending sporting events and taking walks with his friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and a member of the Santa Teresita Choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Filiberto and Alicia Gabaldon; brother, File Gabaldon; sister, Cathy Gabaldon; and father- and mother-in-laws Fernando and Emilia Baca.
He is survived by his wife, Corrine Gabaldon of the family home in Las Vegas, N.M.; children, Emily and husband Steve Padilla, Pauline Gabaldon; Dennis Gabaldon and Elizabeth DeMare and Julianne and husband Daniel Padilla, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; eight grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mino Gabaldon and wife Mabel of Santa Fe, Chano Gabaldon and wife Viola, Vera Gabaldon, Eugenio Gabaldon and wife Sophia, Gloria Sanchez, Carol Duran and husband Alfred and Tino Gabaldon, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; sister-in-law, Teresa Gabaldon of Albuquerque; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lila and husband Eduardo Lucero, Luisa Lucero and husband Boni and Benito Baca and wife Bennie all of Anton Chico, Celina Pino and Rita Lucero and husband Leroy, all of Las Vegas, N.M., Margaret Gonzales and husband Juan of Bernal, Fernando Baca and wife Nea of Tecolotito; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

ROSE GRIEGO, 90, of Tesuque died at home March 7, 2005, following an extended illness.
She is survived by her husband, Antonio D. Griego; sons, Anthony R. Griego and wife Beatrice and Adolfo Mora; daughter, Christella R. Anaya; 10 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

LUGGIE A. MAESTAS, 81, of Fairview and formerly of Los Alamos, died March 6, 2005.
She retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory after 15 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Atanacio and Emilia Archuleta; and brothers, Emilio and Julian Archuleta.
She is survived by her husband, Tony F. Maestas of Fairview; children, John A. Maestas and wife Angie of Chili, Becky Abeyta, Margie Morrison and husband Lorenzo and Emily Ortigoza, all of Española; brothers and sisters, Juan Archuleta and wife Clora and Margarita Salazar, all of Chamita, Juanita Casados and husband Pete of El Guique, Polly Barnhart and husband Barnie of California and Tomas Archuleta and wife Manuelita of Chamita; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick Maestas and wife Florence, Mary Herrera and husband Manuel, Nettie Vigil, Gaspar and wife Felicia, Armando Maestas and wife Annabell, Andres Maestas, Inez Gallegos and husband Alfonso, Margarito Maestas, Reyes Maestas and Olivia Salazar; 14 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo with burial to follow at the Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.

GUILLERMO GILBERT MARTINEZ, 80, of Lower San Pedro died unexpectedly March 4, 2005.
He was a World War II Navy veteran. He owned and operated a couple of service stations in the Española Valley. He retired from the city of Española, and in his spare time he liked to go hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raynaldo, Max, Tony and Thomas Martinez; and sisters, Lucy Taylor and Isabel Matthews. He is survived by his wife, Lily Martinez of Lower San Pedro; sons, Larry Martinez of Lower San Pedro and David Martinez and wife Patricia of Santa Fe; sister, Vickie Guinn of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives.

MARIE ARLENE FRANCES "NINA" MONTOYA, 36, of San Juan Pueblo died March 5, 2005, following injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. She was a very giving, helpful, and loving person. She was a happy woman and loved to make people happy. She had a big heart. She was employed with the Santa Clara Pueblo Senior Center for the past six years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Emily Montoya.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Leonard and Brian Montoya, Rose Montoya, and Fatima Martinez and husband Arlo, all of San Juan Pueblo; special aunts and uncles, Mary Torres and Margaret Archuleta, Johnny Aquino and wife Ruth and Manuel Cata, all of San Juan Pueblo, and Laviano Herrera of Chamita; close friend, Vangie Gutierrez of Santa Clara Pueblo; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo with burial to follow at the San Juan Pueblo Catholic Cemetery.
