M. CLIFFORD ROMERO, 49, of Vadito died Thursday after a long illness.
He loved to be in the mountains, going for wood and riding his horse. He was a great father to his children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Romero Sr; and brother, William Romero.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Romero; daughters, Marrisa Romero and Sierra Romero; sons, Malaquias C. Romero Jr. and Estevan Romero, all of Vadito; mother, Tillie Romero of Vadito; brothers, Felix Romero Jr. and wife, Mary, of Grants and Alberto Romero and wife, Olivia, of Vadito; sisters, Trina Garcia and husband Ellis of Taos, Merlinda Archuleta and husband, Roger, of Vadito and Cecilia Romero; sister, Rachel Salazar; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at St. Francis de Asisi Catholic Church in Taos. A second rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Peņasco. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the same church in Peņasco with burial to follow at the Vadito Cemetery.

TERESITA SANCHEZ, 81, of Santa Fe died Wednesday.
She was born in Pinos Wells to the late Pedro and Elisa Sanchez. She married Jose C. Sanchez in 1944. She was a fun-loving and enthusiastic person. She had an open heart and a fearless attitude. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Jose C. Sanchez; son, Pedro Sanchez; three grandsons; brothers, Eloy Sanchez, Manuelito Chavez, Toby Sanchez and Ismael Sanchez; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Monday at Berardinelli Family Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the same church with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

MARIA CHRISTINE VELARDE, 89, of Santa Fe died Thursday.
She retired from the Santa Fe Public Schools and since then was an active foster grandparent at Alvord Elementary School. She was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, VFW, Ladies Auxiliary, World War I Vets Navy Mother's Club president and a member of La Union Protective.
She was preceded in death by her father, Telesfor Velarde; mother, Camila Jiron Velarde; brothers, Vicente and Nicholas Velarde; and sisters, Julia Romero, Grego Martinez and Rebecca Gonzales.
She is survived by her sons, Victor Bustos Sr. and Robert C de Baca Sr. and wife Consuelo; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday with a rosary to follow at 4 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

ANNIE MARIA CHACON, 85, of El Rito died Thursday after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose P. Chacon; daughter, JoAnn Chacon; three grandsons; father, Benjamin Maestas; mother, Filia Maestas; and brothers, Frank, Ernest Tito and Joe Maestas.
She was an Avon representative for 32 years. Her passion was going to bingo and going to the mountains.
She is survived by her children, Prudy Chacon and wife, Carmen; Tony Chacon; Ben Chacon; Tila Suazo and husband, David; and Lorraine Priscilla Chacon, all of El Rito; Ted Chacon and wife, Irene, of California; Connie Lucero and husband, Ray, of Espaņola; Erma Crim and husband, Allen, of Abiquiu; Priscilla Gaviria of South Carolina; Fedelino Chacon and wife, Tonita, of Alcalde; Beatrice Gonzales and husband, Andrew, of Shadow Mountain; Chris Chacon and wife, Maxine, of Taos; Eusebio Chacon and wife, Candie; of La Puebla, and Tomas Chacon of Santa Fe; sisters, Porfie Skelton and husband, Jim, of Albuquerque, Cordy Lopez and husband, Alex; Susie Rivera, Josie Cross and husband, Dale; Tommie Barrera and husband, Celso; all of California and Claudine Jaramillo of Espaņola; brother, Reynel Maestas and wife, Mary, of Rio Chama; sisters-in-law, Isabel and Belen Maestas; 39 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

VICTORIA B. GONZALES, 89, of Trujillo died Friday in Hereford, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Carmelita Baca; husband, Amado Gonzales; son, Margarito Gonzales; daughter, Gloria Amada 'Amy' Gonzales; and sisters, Aurora Gonzales and Veronica Baca.
She is survived by her sons, Benjamin (Belen) of Conchas Dam, Fidel of Las Vegas, N.M. and Arthur of Trujillo; daughters, Conferina "Confie" and husband, Liberato, of Roy; Celia and husband, Ray Reddinger, and Mary Lou Garza, all of Hereford, Texas, Onofre "Frye" Martinez of Las Vegas, N.M., and Guadalupe and husband Benito Larson of Albuquerque; sister, Margarita Lester of Trujillo; 21 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M. with burial to follow in Tulosa.

ABELINA DE GARCIA MAESTAS, 97, of Albuquerque died Friday.
She was born to the late Gabriel and Isabelita Garcia of El Porvenir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rosendo Maestas; and children, Dolorita Maestas and Augustin Maestas.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Maestas, Enrique Maestas and wife, Elena; and Roger Maestas and wife, Mary; daughters, Corina Maestas and husband, Jose; Rosalie Padilla and husband, Eugene; Eva Fisher and husband, Silver; 40 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Sunrise. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

JOSE ESPIDIRION MARTINEZ, 75, of Espaņola died Friday.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 17 of Espaņola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Selustiano and Juanita Martinez; son, Archie J. Martinez; and sisters, Martina Gurule and Lucinda Lopez.
He is survived by his wife, Anita G. Martinez of the family home; sons, Orlando J. Martinez and wife, Grace, of La Puebla, Lorenzo Martinez and wife, Sandra, of Espaņola and Juan Martinez and wife Marcella of Medanales; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Sanchez of Espaņola, 12 grandchildren; brother, Modesto Martinez and wife Marina of Riverside; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.
