CECILIO QUINTANA, 85, of Rowe died Saturday after a brief illness. He was born to Conferina Armijo Quintana and Manuel Quintana. He was a lifelong resident of Rowe and recently resided with his niece, Sylvia Baca, and her husband Max Baca and their son, Jonathan Baca. He was a resident of Brook Haven Nursing Home at the time of his death. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as private with the 402nd Military Police Company. He was never married but was a cherished and beloved member of his extended family. He was a lifelong member of the Sagrada Familia Parish in Rowe and was a dedicated and religious man his entire life. His gentleness of spirit and abiding faith have served as an example to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sister, Elisa Sanchez and husband Arsenio Sanchez; and many other relatives and friends. A public visitation will be held all day today at Rogers Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M. AMALIA GARCIA, 93, of Española died Feb. 8.
She was born and raised in Medanales, and when she married, she moved to Canjilon. She also spent 36 years of her life in Santa Fe. She had been a resident of Española for the past four years. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Adelaida Vigil; husband, Tobias Garcia; and brother, Thomas Vigil Jr.
She is survived by her children, Jose "Chonque" Fidencio and wife Sally Garcia, Chris "J.J." Garcia, and Toby and wife Carmen Garcia, all of Española, Mary Garcia of Albuquerque; one granddaughter she raised, Jennifer Genelle Chavez and husband Andrew of Alcalde; 10 other grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Olivar Vigil and wife Mary of El Rito, Victor Vigil of Utah, Eduvigen Martinez of Los Ojos, Lita Haines of Washington, and Betty Howard of Texas; and many other relatives and friends.

ELIAS GARCIA JR., 61, of Española died Feb. 7 after a long illness.
He loved the outdoors and woodwork. He enjoyed life with his family and spending his free time with his grandchildren. He was a quiet and reserved gentleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Delubina Garcia; brothers, Celso, Frank, and Max; and sister, Amelia Lujan.

ELISARIA LISA TRUJILLO,, 82, of Santa Fe, died at home on Thursday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Telesfor Trujillo; granddaughter, Michelle Trujillo Gonzales; brothers Joe S. JIMMIE E. HERNANDEZ,, 71, of Santa Fe, died Wednesday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe M., Adolfo Jr., Pedro, Jose and Johnny, and sister Nellie Gutierrez. He was born in Madrid to Adolfo Sr. and Francisca Hernandez, who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Marines and retired from the city of Santa Fe after 23 years of service. THEODORE (TED) HANDEL,, 57, died Thursday. He retired from Los Alamos National Laboratories after 35 years of service. He devoted 20 years to Search and Rescue, was a lifetime Sportsmens Club member, enjoyed 47 years in the Ham Radio Club and made annual missionary trips to the Philippines for over seven years. Ted was a faithful church member of the Calvary Chapel in Los Alamos and Alexandria, Va. and an avid supporter of Joy Junction and the homeless shelters. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife, Iris Handel; daughters: Deanna Handel-Lazarus and husband John; Danna Henderson and Lesley Henderson; granddaughter, Ella Lazarus; mother, Elizabeth Handel; sisters: Anne Jordan and Terri Barrowman; brothers: Bill, Robert and Steve Handel.
