WALTER "FUNKY" P. WILLIAMS, 26, of San Pedro died unexpectedly Tuesday. He enjoyed baseball and motorcross riding. He loved mechanical work and collecting Hot Wheels.
He is survived by his father, Ernest Williams of Abiquiu; mother, Marsha Williams of Espaņola; sisters, Crystal Williams of Espaņola and Beverly Ann Williams of Abiquiu; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espaņola with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz.

ANTONIO G. ARCHULETA, 40, of El Rito died Tuesday after a long illness.
He loved to hunt and fish. He was a jockey for many years and had a passion for horses. He was currently employed at the Ohkay Casino as a slot supervisor. He loved his family and friends, especially his grandpa, Juan Antonio Ocaņa.
He is survived by his son, Ricky Archuleta, and daughter, Sharon Ortiz, both of El Rito; parents, Ted and Frances Archuleta of El Rito; girlfriend, Renee Medina and her children Rey-Lynn and Reyna, of Espaņola; brother, Levie Archuleta and wife Phyllis of El Rito; sisters, Linda Archuleta of El Rito, Lisa Martinez and husband Francisco of Antonito, Colo.; special niece, Shanea Montoya of El Rito; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the San Juan de Nepomuceno Church in El Rito. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the same church with burial to follow at the El Rito Cemetery.

STUART BOYD, 83, formerly of Santa Fe, died Friday at his home in Dornach, Scotland.
He was a tutor on the Santa Fe campus of St. John's College from 1966-1989. He was born in Scotland. He completed his master's degree and doctorate in clinical psychology at Aberdeen University. He saw active service during World War II and was wounded and captured in September 1944 at Arnhem in the Netherlands. He came to the United States in 1952 and pursued a distinguished career as a lecturer, teacher and clinical psychologist. In 1966, he joined the faculty of St. John's College. After his retirement from St. John's College in 1989, he and his wife returned to Scotland, where he worked on his memoirs and his painting.
He is survived by his wife, Nan; two children from his first marriage; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Stuart Boyd Memorial, c/o St. John's College, 1160 Camino Cruz Blanca, Santa Fe, N.M. 87505. These donations will be gathered and sent in his name to the airborne forces charities of his regiment.
The funeral was held in Scotland. A memorial gathering will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Junior Common Room at St. John's College.

DAISIE LORENA BUCHWALD, 95, of El Castillo died Wednesday.
She was born in Roosevelt County, Territory of New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Buchwald.
She is survived by her son, Lloyd Buchwald of Santa Fe; and daughters, Elsie Buchwald of Walnut Creek, Calif. and Laura Stephens of Amarillo, Texas.

WILLIAM ELGIE FIELDS, 79, of Santa Fe died Tuesday.
He was better known as "Bill" to his family and friends. He was born in Vian, Okla. to an Indian father and a white mother. He moved to New Mexico at the age of one and was raised on or near Navajo and Hopi reservations. He lived in Santa Fe for more than 42 years. He attended the University of New Mexico where he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1950 and worked for many years. He retired as a civil and hydrolics engineer.
He served as chief of Indian Affairs, worked with the National Park Service from 1958-1987, and worked with Navajo, Zuni and Hopi tribes on park proposals. He worked for five years as a liaison to all the tribes in the United States and possessions. He worked for Indian programs to better their social and economic life.
He served in the military from July 1942-Dec. 1945 with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He served at the Guadalcanal, New Georgia and Bougainville. He worked with the Navajo Code talkers during World War II as well. From Dec. 1945-June 1950, he was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and from June 1950-July 1985 served in the New Mexico National Guard. He retired as colonel in the Army and brigadier general in the New Mexico State Guard.
His volunteer services included: board of directors, Winds of Life Foundation; board of directors, Buffalo tour for reinstatement of buffalo to reservations; board of directors, Southwestern College in Santa Fe; and board of directors, American Indian Art Mentor Program with SWAIA and MOWW. His awards included: Legion of Merit, Distinguished Service Medals (Army, State of New Mexico National Guard Association) and the Meritorious service medal (Army and National Park Service).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tate and Eva Fields; son, Robert Sherwood Fields; and sister, Evanell Bushnell.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Doris Madox Taylor, of Farmington and Tuscon, Ariz.; wife, Pricilla Fields of Santa Fe; sister, Juanita Batchelor of Florida; children, Frank Fields and wife Gail of Tucson, Ariz., Wendy Fields-Montoya and husband Phillip, Crystal Fields-Lucero, Nick Sanchez and wife Nook, Jimmy Sanchez and wife Emily Lucero- Sanchez, and Rose Cordova and husband Tom Cordova, all of Santa Fe, Antonio Sanchez of Dixon and Craig Sanchez of Blanco; 15 grandchildren; and many other relatives.

MARY HELEN ORTEGA, 65, of Las Vegas, N.M. died Wednesday at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Las Vegas, N.M. to the late Gabriel Gallegos and Veneranda Padilla. She worked as a nurse technician for 33 years at various nursing facilities until retirement. She enjoyed going to the casino to play slot machines, going out for breakfast on Sunday mornings and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Juanita Ortega; son, Jake Ortega; parents; brother, Manuel Gallegos; sisters, Angie Quintana and Emma Gallegos Santillanes; and many other relatives.
