ELIAS MARTINEZ, 78, of Denver and a former resident of Holman died Sunday after a long illness.
He was born in Holman to Benerito Martinez and Seraida Valdez Martinez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benerito and Seraida Martinez; brothers, Conrado and Reynaldo Valdez; and father and mother-in-law, Eloy and Endelecia Medina.
He is survived by his wife, Emelia Martinez of the family home in Denver; sons, Seraido Martinez and wife Flora of Commerce City, Colo., Toby Martinez and wife Cathy of Denver, Alex Medina and Cilia of Holman, Johnny Medina and wife Valerie of Colorado Springs; daughters, Ruby Duran and husband Donald of Costilla; special niece, Eloida Vigil and husband Richard of Guadalupita; brothers, Filimon Martinez and wife Eleanor of Denver, and Gilbert Martinez of Espaņola; sister, Rebecca Vasquez of Denver; 13 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Gertrude's Church with burial to follow at San Isidro Cemetery in Holman.

LEVI ISIDORO MARTINEZ, 45, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday of cancer.
He was born and received his early education in Las Vegas, N.M. He was a housing construction worker and worked for R&L Construction Co. He loved to fish and hunt.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Florinda Martinez and brother, Raymond Martinez.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at the same church followed by cremation. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the San Jose Cemetery.

FILBERT J. SANCHEZ, 83, of Santa Fe died Monday.
He was born to Enrique and Dolores Sanchez. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force. He later retired from Amtrak.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelina; and sister, Mary Dorrance.
He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie M. Sanchez of Santa Fe and Mary Lou Carter and husband Timothy of Port Huron, Mich.; son, Phil S. Sanchez and wife, Kathy, of Santa Fe; sister, Henrietta Sanchez of Denver; brothers, Matt Sanchez and wife, Angie, of San Francisco, and Pete Sanchez and wife, Florence, of Denver; 12 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

VEDILIA VALDEZ, 70, of Ojo Feliz died Sunday.
She was born to the late Juan Antonio and Edonilia Cruz. She was married to Jose Emilio Valdez in 1958. She was a lifelong member of the Ojo Feliz Church of Christ. She enjoyed making crafts. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for family gatherings. Her family was the center of her life. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan Antonio and Edonilia Cruz.

PETE A. ESQUIBEL, 89, of Upper Las Nutrias died Monday after a short illness.
He was an honorable and kind man.
