RONALD (RON) STEVEN MESSICK, 46, of Santa Fe died Sunday after yearlong battle with cancer.
He was founder and co-owner of Rochford and Messick Fine Art on Canyon Road. He led a blessed life in which everything he did was out of love and happiness.
He is survived by his partner, Paul Rochford.
A memorial is being planned for the spring (he was not fond of cold weather) and announcements will follow as to the date and place.

JUANITA MARIA RAEL, 84, of Questa died Saturday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Honorio Rael and parents, Don and Rebecca Martinez.

LUCY VALDEZ-SEGURA, 72, of Dixon died Saturday after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Dixon to the late Jose Dolores Valdez and Juanita Lujan Valdez. Her love of life was reflected in a big smile. Her endless love for family showed in her concern for the well being of others. Spanish music inspired her to sing and dance. She loved to cook and entertain her many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Beroniz Archuleta, Zacarias Valdez, Silas Valdez and Laura Duran; and son Albert Richard (Ricky) Romero.
She is survived by her husband, Abel Segura; sisters, Gregorita Sanchez of Moriarty, Celina Sanchez of Española, Rose DeHerrera of Sacramento, Calif., Alice Arellano and husband, Gerson, and Ben Valdez and wife, Charlotte, all of Dixon; and many other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held from noon-7 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Block Salazar Mortuary. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church in Embudo with cremation to take place following the services.

NICKOLAS ANDREW VALENCIA, 2, of Santa Fe died unexpectedly Friday.

FLORIAN "CORKY" GARCIA, 77, of Santa Fe died Dec. 15 after a long illness.
He was born in Santa Fe to Juanito Estevan and Nellie Garcia. He married Estella Sanchez Garcia in 1952 in Santa Fe.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and sisters, Margaret Garcia and Ruby Sandoval.
He is survived by his wife, Estella; children, Florian Artie Garcia and partner Brian F. Dailey, and John S. Garcia and wife Stacy Starr Garcia; two grandchildren; sister, Flora Roybal; special friends Margaret E. Lopez and Cindy Martinez Garcia; and many other relatives and friends.

GILBERT E. MAES SR., 83, of Albuquerque died Dec. 16 of cancer.
He was born in Maes to J.D. Maes Sr. and Efren Varela Maes. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the Air Transport Command. He retired from the Zia Company in Los Alamos as a purchasing supervisor after 38 years of service. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank A. Maes.
