MARY CATHERINE Jones CHURCH, 71, of Santa Fe died Wednesday.
She was the daughter of Santa Fe homesteaders William and Ruth Bush Jones. She attended Loretto Girls School, St. Mary's High School, the University of New Mexico and the Northwestern Medical School. She had a distinguished professional career as one of the first licensed physical therapists in New Mexico. A longtime resident of Roswell, she retired to her family home in Santa Fe in 1996. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Church; sons, William Church of Alamogordo, Robert Church of Cedar Crest, Christopher Church of Seattle, Edward Church of Scottsdale and Thomas Church of Santa Fe; 10 grandchildren; and sister, Florence Ruth Brown-Folmar of Santa Fe. A visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. ANTONIA "TONI" S. TAFOYA GALLEGOS, 83, formerly of Las Vegas, N.M., died Monday at the Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a resident of of Las Vegas, Nev. She was born in San Antonio, N.M. She served the Immaculate Conception Church for 25 years as eucharistic minister and served two Masses daily. She taught catechism, helped train all the altar servers, created all the infant Jesus garments and provided many other services for the church. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Antonio Tafoya; mother, Maria Candelaria Baca-Tafoya; husband, Tony Gallegos; brother, Joe Tafoya; and sister, Katie Tafoya. She is survived by her daughters and son, Julie O'Neal and husband Charles, Bill Tafoya and wife Katrina and Josie Job and husband Gene, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; sister, Lena Salazar of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother, Cordy Tafoya of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends. LAWRENCE LUCERO, 71, of Dixon died Wednesday after a sudden illness. He was a farmer and a member of Post 62 of the American Legion in Dixon. He enjoyed spending his time camping, fishing and hunting. He married in 1958 and had two daughters. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan D. and Loyda S. Lucero; brother, Isaac Lucero; sister, Susanna Maes and father and mother-in law Abelino and Amalia Martinez. SAMUEL T. "CHUCO" MARTINEZ, 75, of Chimayó died Wednesday after a short illness. He was a well-known mechanic in Chimayó. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He served for about 25 years as mardromo for the ditches in Chimayó. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tonita Martinez; parents, Emilio and Primitia Martinez; sister, Martina Martinez; brother, Emilio Martinez Jr. and stepson, Eddie Martinez. DANNY RAYMOND AGUILAR, 36, of Inglewood, Calif., died June 5.

BARRY LOUIS BARTHELL, 69, of Tesuque died Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Los Angeles to Samuel and Alice Barthell. He came with his parents to Los Alamos in 1947 and later graduated from Los Alamos High School. He married Janet Sue Cain in 1955 and they had three children. He worked at LANL for most of his career and held several patents. He was an avid skier, hiker, and enjoyed training Afghan hounds.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Sue Cain.
He is survived by his second wife, Jolene Barthell of Tesuque; children, Robin and Rod Stothard and Greg Barthell and wife, Judy, all of Los Alamos; Ben Barthell and wife, Marjean, of Bloomington, Minn., and stepdaughter Paula Jordan LeBlanc of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He chose to be cremated and have no funeral. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his name to the Santa Fe Community Foundation.

CLARA M. BORREGO, 85, of El Guique died Saturday after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delfinio Borrego.
She is survived by her children, Jose E. Borrego and wife, Faustina, of El Guique, Bernie Sanchez, and Richard Borrego, both of Estaca; sister, Bessie Romero of Grand Junction, Colo., eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

EDITH SUSANNE CASCIANI, 60, of Santa Fe died Saturday.
She was born in York, Pa., to the late George and Nellie Anna La Fontaine. She married Roger Casciani in 1965. She was a graduate of York Suburban High School and a graduate of Penn State University where she earned a bachelor's degree in English in 1965. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed as an English tutor, librarian assistant, elementary school teacher and teacher's aide. She was a partner with many Christian ministries worldwide. She served the Episcopalian church vesting and was an acolyte.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Matt Casciani and wife, Kristin; and Tom Casciani and wife, Catherine; four grandchildren; brother, William H. Long; and many other relatives and friends.
