EDITH HAAG, 81, of Los Alamos died Saturday in Albuquerque after a long illness.
She was born in Pelham, Ga. She graduated from Pelham High School in 1941 and attended Freeman Business College from 1941 to 1942. She worked at the Naval Ordinance Plant in Macon, Ga., from 1942 until 1944 (making depth charges). She enlisted in the Women's Army Corps (WACs) in 1944 and ended up in New Mexico to work on the Manhattan Project. After her discharge in 1946, she worked for the Atomic Energy Commission (later the Energy Research and Development Administration and the Department of Energy) and worked for 36 years before her retirement in 1981. She was a contract specialist at DOE for a major part of her career. She was a world traveler. Her hobbies included golf, bowling, art, collecting and shopping. She enjoyed taking art classes from a local teacher. In the summer, she played golf and in the winter, she bowled. A bowler for over 40 years, she was a certified instructor for youth bowling for eight years. She was a member of the WIBC Pioneer Club and a state representative for New Mexico to the national tournaments for several years. In 1997, she was inducted into the New Mexico Women Bowling Association's
Hall of Fame.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edwin Haag; parents, Thomas Earl Barwick and Mary Brock Sellers; and brother, Jesse (Buck) Barwick.
She is survived by her sisters, Francis Castleberry of Pelham, Ga. and Juanita Palmer of Georgetown, Ga.; son, Bill Haag and wife Belinda; three grandsons; and many other relatives.
A public viewing will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Berardinelli Funeral Home in Santa Fe. A graveside ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe followed by a public memorial service at 2:30 p.m. at New Beginnings Assembly of God in Los Alamos. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to the New Mexico Alzheimer's Association.

IAN PHILIP HOYER, 18, of Pilar died Friday in an accident.
He was born in Taos. He was a 2004 graduate of Chamisa Mesa. His interests included music, art and cooking.
He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Nancy Hoyer; brother, Tristan; and many other relatives and friends.
A gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Musik Park in Pilar.

ARTHUR N. NICHOLAS LEDERMAN, 85, of Lower San Pedro died Friday.
He was born in Wheaton, Ill. to the late Anton and Katherine Lederman. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940 and was a World War II Veteran having received many awards. He was a retired landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Elmer, Barney and Ralph Lederman. He is survived by his wife, June Lederman; daughter, Cheryl Lynne Lederman of Española, sister, Gertrude Lederman of Wheaton, Ill.; and many other relatives.

PAT TYSON, 66, of Los Cordovas died Friday.
She moved to Taos in 1981 where she owned and operated the Carson House Shop along with Georgia Hale. She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women. She studied drama in New York and performed as a stand up comedian. She was senior vice president of Columbia Savings & Loan in Denver. She was an animal lover.
She is survived by many relatives and friend/biz partner Georgia Ann Hale.
