BERNARD CHAVEZ, 56, of Anton Chico died Friday from complications with Parkinson's disease.
He worked for the U.S. Forest Service and fought forest fires in the Las Vegas area. He became a park ranger and worked at Fort Union, Carlsbad Caverns and Santa Fe.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; son, Ezekiel and wife, Yvonne; daughter, Jessica and husband, Harris; one grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Berardinelli Chapel in Santa Fe.

JOSE "CLOKE" OCLOVIS DOMINGUEZ, 70, of El Llano died Friday at his home.
He was formerly of Valecitos.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

TONY "LIL JOKER" GARCIA-PAIZ, 34, of Cleveland, N.M., died Sunday at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M.
He was born in Denver to Lorenzo Garcia and Linda Sanchez. He was a self-employed landscape laborer. He was very artistic and liked dancing, poetry and helping the elderly.

JOE F. RIVERA, 77, of Santa Fe died Friday at his daughter's home in Pecos following a lengthy illness.
He was employed by White Swan Laundry for 25 years and N.E.A for many years. He was involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Color Guard, Cooties, Woodmen of The World, Eagles and the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II of the 27th Infantry Regiment, in which he was a private first class. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Rivera and Jessie Ortega Rivera; first wife, Antonia Grace Ruiz; wife, Mercy M. Felix Rivera; and brother, Norman Ortega.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina Rivera of Pecos; son, Michael Rivera and wife, Kim, of Santa Fe; daughter, Della Estrada of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Dollie Mae Trujillo of Santa Fe, Mary Alice Anaya of Galisteo and Gloria Hernandez of Española; brothers, Leroy Rivera of Duarte, Calif., and James Archuleta of Grants; companion, Vickie Acuna Long of Tesuque; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

JOHN SACKETT, 82, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Thursday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque.
He was a former resident of Amherst, Ohio. He was born to the late Salvatore and Nancy Leone Sackett in Shamrock, Pa. He was married to the former Connie Mary Montoya in 1947 in Las Vegas, N.M. He was a World War II veteran of the 1136th Quartermaster Co., Air Service Group where he received a Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. He was a self-employed masonry contractor for over 50 years. He loved spending time with his extended family. He enjoyed fishing and hanging out with his coffee buddies at many local establishments. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe Pete and Tony Sackett; and sisters, Josephine (Jay) Dario and Mary Condito, all of Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Sackett, of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughter, Erma Sena and husband, Gilbert; son, Patrick D. Sackett and wife Nicolasa, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; 16 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends in Ohio, Michigan and New Mexico.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at the Immaculate Conception Church with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
