FLORA GURULE, 67, of Las Tablas, died Saturday in Phoenix. She was born in Las Tablas.
She worked at La Jara Community Hospital for 10 years and was owner and cook of the Pioneer Café in Manassa, Colo., for 10 years. For the past five years she worked at the Wal-Mart in Española as a cashier, refusing to retire. She continued to sell her famous pies and cinnamon rolls and sold Watkins. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny B. Lovato; mother Elena Lovato; and brothers, Joseph and Miguel Lovato. She is survived by her children, Andrew Gurule and wife Geneva of Antonito, Colo., Sandra Gurule and Glenda Quinlan, both of Boulder, Colo., Steven Gurule of Española, Lorabelle Gurule and Charlotte Gurule, both of Phoenix, and Annette Espinoza and husband James of El Llano; fiancée, Richard Vigil; eight grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Lovato and wife Mary, Clyde Lovato and wife Beverly, Glenn Lovato and wife Helen and Levi Lovato; sisters, Christina Griego and husband Antonio, Dora Sanchez and husband Torry and Alice Martinez and husband Carlos and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. A devotional service will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at the same chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan with burial to follow at Las Tablas Cemetery. NELSON "BILL" JARMIE, 76, of Los Alamos died Friday after a long illness. He was a staff member of the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 40 years, where he performed pioneer work in nuclear and particle physics and astrophysics. He was a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers. He was a co-founder of the Pajarito Ski Area in Los Alamos. He was a member of the North American Mycological Association and contributed to a study of taxonomic mycology in northern New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Fran J. Rogers of Los Alamos; sons, Mark Dawson Jarmie and wife Marilyn of Albuquerque and Eric Louis Jarmie and wife Julie of Santa Cruz, Calif.; brother, Theodore "Ted" Jarmie and companion Mary Lawson of Green Valley, Ariz.; close cousin, Barbara Wright and husband Richard of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. VIOLA T. MAESTAS, 79, of Santa Fe died Tuesday after a long illness. She was born in Santa Fe to Eduardo and Eduivigen Tafoya. She was a 1944 graduate of Santa Fe High School. In 1952, she married Joe E. Maestas in Bernalillo. She worked as an administrative secretary for the New Mexico Department of Labor; director, Bureau of Elections of Santa Fe County; secretary, State Education Department; and as a clerk for the Commerce Department in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the National Association of Professional Women, Club Real, Fiesta Council and Santa Fe Women's Health Committee. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Frances Clark, Rudolph, Robert, Eloy, Edward Tafoya and Angelina Berrio. She is survived by her husband, Joe E. Maestas; daughters, Roberta L. Espinosa of San Diego and Anita Kidwell of Santa Fe; son, David Maestas and wife Dawn Maestas of Richland, Wash., Joseph Maestas of Albuquerque, Ted Maestas and wife Annette Schandel of Denver; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Please call for Mass information. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society. SHARON VIGIL-GARCIA, 39, of Chimayó died unexpectedly Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her brother, Max Vigil; and son, Nicholas Smith. She is survived by her parents, Tiburcio and Emilia Vigil of Chimayó; ex-husband and close friend, Johnny Garcia of El Duende; sister, Joyce Martinez and brothers, Dicky Vigil and Joel Vigil and wife Elizabeth, all of Chimayó; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a devotional service at 7 p.m. today at Valley Bible Baptist Church in Arroyo Seco. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the same church with burial to follow at Nuestra Señora de Dolores cemetery in Chimayó. PATRICIA SANDER BARYLSKI, 85, of Los Alamos died Wednesday.
She was born in Marion, Ill., but always considered Los Alamos her only home. She came to Los Alamos with the Manhattan Project in 1944 and retired after a long career with the Atomic Energy Commission and the University of California. Upon retirement, she entered a new career serving both public and private service. She owned the first travel agency in Los Alamos, Atlas Travel, and enjoyed years of extensive travel throughout the world. She traveled privately, but also enjoyed touring with her friends. She was community oriented and involved in many organizations, as a board member on the Los Alamos Economic Development Corporation and the Los Alamos Landscape Committee. She was proud to be one of the founders of Los Alamos National Bank and Trinity Capital Corp. She served on the board of directors of TCC from 1978 and retired in 2002. Most recently, she was involved in the development of 1001 Oppenheimer Place and the Quemazon community. She was a member of Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church and enjoyed many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Barylski.
She is survived by her daughter, DiAnn and son-in-law Ed Boice of Coronado, Calif.; four grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church with burial to follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, New Mexico Chapter.

ELMA R. LUCRECIO CARRILLO, 63, of Montezuma died Thursday at Northeastern Regional Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Los Vigiles to the late Filemon Lucrecio and Romana Mejillas Lucrecio. She was married at the Immaculate Conception Church in 1963 to Thomas Carrillo. She loved to garden, cook and care for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and former member of the Catholic Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Lorenzo Lucrecio.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Carrillo of the family home in Montezuma; children, Manuel Carrillo and wife, Yolanda; and Rose Ann Carrillo, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; Lorenzo "Lencho" Carrillo and wife, Sarah Sanchez, of Los Vigiles, Kathy Carrillo of Reedsburg, Wis., Paul Carrillo of Amarillo, Michael Carrillo, Benji Carrillo and wife Francine, Alicia Carrillo, Michaela Carrillo, Marissa Carrillo and Ambrose Carrillo, all of Montezuma; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Adela Jaramillo and wife, Elias, of Texas and Adelmira Maestas and husband Don Martinez of Ft. Collins, Colo.; special aunt, Lucy Guzman of Los Vigiles; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today at Nuestra Señora De Refugio Church in Los Vigiles with burial to follow at Los Vigiles Cemetery.

FRANCES N. "FRAN" CHARLTON, 73, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born in Raton in 1930 and married in 1949 to Claude Charlton in Las Vegas, N.M. She was a member of Chapter AC, PEO, and the First United Methodist Church. In her earlier years she was active with the hospital auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Northrup.
She is survived by her husband, Claude of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughters, Claudia Charlton and her husband, Frank Clair, of Bremerton, Wash., Lora Conley and husband, Michael, of Las Vegas, N.M.; Cindy Charlton of Englewood, Colo. and Thelma Northrup of Springer; sisters, Lora Lusk of Folsom and Linda Raybauld of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, 715 National Ave. The family have requested that memorials be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church, 715 National Ave., Las Vegas, NM 87701.

H.C. "CHUCK" CONLEY, 82, of Chama died Thursday after a brief illness.
He and his wife owned, operated and managed Conley Lumber Co. for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Temple Lee Conley.
He is survived by his children, Alette Thompson of Whiteriver, Ariz. and Terry Conley and wife Randy of Rio Chama; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Sam and Annabelle Conley, Tommie Doughty, all of Gordonville, Texas, Marcus Conley and wife Laura Lee and Smokey Conley and wife Eulene of Phoenix; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Cloudy Volunteer Fire Department at HC 67 Box 1680 Rattan, OK 74562.
