E. Jane Lawson
LAKE MONTICELLO, Va. — E. Jane Godfrey Lawson, 78, of 523 Jefferson Drive East, Lake Monticello, died Aug. 8, after a long illness.
Born Aug. 3, 1925, she lived in Branchville, N.J., before moving to Lake Monticello in 1988.
Mrs. Lawson was a graduate of Jersey City Medical Center, where she obtained a nursing degree. She was a registered nurse. From 1972-1981, she served on the Branchville Board of Education. Mrs. Lawson volunteered with Planned Parenthood, the Sussex County Council on Aging and many other community organizations. She shared her love of reading and poetry by reading to children at the Branchville and Palmyra, Va., Elementary Schools.
Mrs. Lawson is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert V; five children, Irene L. Sterling, of Paterson N.J., Robert V. Lawson II, of Frankford, N.J., Peggy L. Mulcahy, of Prospect Heights, Ill., Michael K. Lawson, of Lake Monticello, and Celia Lawson, of New York City; six siblings, Dora Cooke, of Bloomsbury, N.J., Robert and John Godfrey, of Washington, N.J., Grace Eckel, of Gainesville, Fla., Kate Denis of Dade City, Fla., and Thomas Godfrey, of Seffner, Fla.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Nancy J. Vymetal
ANDOVER TWP. — Nancy J. Vymetal, 85, died Monday at Newton Memorial Hospital.
Born in New Haven, Conn., she moved to Andover Township 37 years ago and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton.
The daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte (Treat) Burwell, Mrs. Vymetal was also predeceased by her husband, Frank J., on May 8, 2003.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
Carl J. Boyer
PINE BUSH, N.Y. — Carl J. Boyer, 56, died Wednesday at Putnam Hospital.
Mr. Boywer was a heavy equipment operator for Maybrook Materials, and a 30-year resident of the Pine Bush area.
The son of the late Carl and Louise Wolfe Boyer, he was born Dec. 18, 1947 in Newton, N.J.
Mr. Boyer had also worked on blacktopping with James Young Paving in Middletown.
He was predeceased by his brother, Gary.
Survivors include two sons, Steven A., and Jimmy Lee both of Scotchtown, N.Y.; his daughter, Louise Marie and her companion, Buck, of Pine Bush; three brothers, Robert Wolfe of Newton, Joseph of Newton and Ronald of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Brenda Martin of Urbana, Ill., and Marcie Behnke of Wappinger Falls, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday from 3-5 p.m. at the Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, N.Y. Services will follow immediately at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Newton cemetery in Newton.
Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
Mary M. Draeger-Osinga
ANDOVER TWP. — Mary M. Draeger-Osinga, 77, died Tuesday at the Andover Nursing Home.
Born in Orange, she grew up in Bloomfield and had resided in Wayne and West Palm Beach, Fla., for many years prior to moving to Andover in 2000.
The daughter of the late Malcolm M. and Jeanie Gilmour MacKay, she had worked for many years as a secretary for the Engelhard Adjustment Co. of Hawthorne until her retirement in 1971. She is a former member of the Brook Dale Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield.
Mrs. Draeger-Osinga was predeceased by her first husband, William V. Draeger in 1969 and her second husband, Gary J. Osinga, in 1998.
She is survived by her son, Arthur S. Draeger of Highland Lakes; a daughter, Kathy A. Malanowski of Front Royal, Va., her stepdaughters, Toni Osinga of Georgia and Tisha Osinga of Washington; a brother, George MacKay, of Pompton Plains; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

John Kellner
MONTAGUE — John Joseph Kellner, 59, died Wednesday at home.
Born in Elizabeth to the late Harold and Catherine Brown Kellner, Mr. Kellner lived in Waretown before moving to Montague in December of 1984.
He was a U.S. Army sergeant during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Kellner was an operating engineer for Rittacco Construction in Belleville for the past three years. He had previously worked for Marquis Construction in Newfoundland from 1985-2000 and worked at R.J. Longo Construction in Denville from 1976-1985. Mr. Kellner was a member of Local 825 Operating Engineers in Springfield.
Mr. Kellner is survived by his wife, Lynn (Thompson); two daughters, Carol Lynn of Milford, Pa., and Denise Marie Price of Waretown; two brothers, Richard A. of Westwood and Joseph Kellner of Manchester, N.H. and three grandchildren.

Adelia Stormes
SUSSEX BOROUGH — Adelia Stormes, 81, died Monday at the Sussex County Homestead in Frankford.
Born in Sussex to the late Clarence and Edna Heater, Mrs. Stormes was a lifelong resident of Sussex County.
During World War II, she had been employed at Picatinny Arsenal. She retired from Morley's Shirt Co. in Franklin 40 years ago.
Mrs. Stormes was predeceased by her husband, Lester, in 1958; her daughter, Edna "Snook" Stormes in 1969; her son, Richard Lee, in 2000 and a granddaughter, Kristen, in 1984.
She is survived by her son, Lester E. and his wife, Lynn, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her daughter, MaryAnn Maitetti of Vernon; her brother, Robert Heater of Pennsylvania; her sister, Ann Hobson of Cocoa Beach, Fla., six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Harry Szkolar
GREEN — Harry Szkolar, 81, died Sunday at the Andover Nursing Home.
Born in Newark, he had resided in West Orange for many years before moving to the Greendell section of the township 20 years ago.
Son of the late Nicholas and Sophie Szkolar, he was a graduate of the University of Missouri. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving from 1943-1946. Mr. Szkolar received the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
Mr. Szkolar is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy A. Foley Szkolar and his daughter, Kathie Szkolar of Morristown.

Lucy Gamache
NEWTON — Lucy Gamache, 80, died Wednesday at Newton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Boston, Mrs. Gamache grew up in Newark, then lived in Roseland before moving to Sussex County 15 years ago. She lived in Wantage and had been a resident of Newton for 10 years. She was a jewelry maker for the former Schimanns Company in Newark before her retirement in 1982 and a member of Saint Joseph's R.C. Church in Newton.
Predeceased by her first husband, Louis W. Goralski, and her second husband, Tony Gamache, she is survived by two daughters, Bernadette Mickus, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., and Joanne Albert, of Lafayette; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth Dorothy Ottoson
HACKETTSTOWN — Ruth Dorothy (Claudelin) Ottoson, 84, died Wednesday at Heath Village Care Center in Washington Twp., in Warren County.
Born on May 5, 1919, in Kensington, Conn. where she grew up and attended school and the First Lutheran Church of New Britain, she was the youngest child of Charles and Mathilda Claudelin, who emigrated individually from Sweden in the late 1800s.
A 1940 graduate of Upsala College in East Orange, she worked for Bell Telephone until she married
Karl Ottoson in November 1942 while he was on military leave. In 1945, Mrs. Ottoson settled in Dover with her husband. The two also moved to Randolph in 1954 and in 1984 to Lake Lenape in Andover Township. She moved to Heath Village in 1996.
Mrs. Ottoson was active in Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover for nearly 60 years. At Heath Village, she was active in the choir and the writers' club and had written many poems, prose and her autobiography. A 50-year choir member, she was active in many circle activities and taught Bible school. An avid bird watcher, she could identify many birds through their calls.
Mrs. Ottoson was predeceased by her husband in 1990; one brother, Carl, who died in infancy; one sister, Hildur, in July; and one granddaughter. Mrs. Ottoson is survived by two daughters, Kristine Perry-Schmidt, and her husband, Ray, of Andover Township, Ingrid Williams and her husband, Scott, of Mendham; one brother, Karl, and his wife, Janice, of Mount Olive; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Raymond G. Philip
WANTAGE — Raymond G. Philip, 77, died Wednesday at Saint Clare's Hospital in Sussex Borough.
Born in Nutley, Mr. Philip had lived in Wantage since 1968. A World War II Navy veteran, Mr. Philip served as a frogman. A member of the Sussex Fire Department, the American Legion Post No. 213 in Wantage, the Virgin Acres Gun Club and the Rock View Golf Club, Mr. Philip was a self-employed builder, owning and operating Philip Brothers for 60 years.
Predeceased by his brother, Austin, in 2000, and his sister, Lillian Nelson, in 2001, he is survived by his wife, Helen (Bostory); two sons, Raymond S., of Wantage, and Steven, of California; one sister, Marge Clerc, of Hawaii, and three grandchildren.

Andrew D. Wheeler
ANDOVER — Andrew D. Wheeler, 68, died Wednesday.
He was a retired member of the ILA of New York City.
Predeceased by his wife, Mary (Probst), Mr. Wheeler is survived by three daughters, Colleen, Barbara and Dawn; two sons, Jimmy and Chris; four sisters, Dorothy, Margaret, Mary and Kathleen; five brothers, James, Joseph, Maurice, Robert and Michael; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
