BIERSTINE, JOSEPHONE "JUTZI", 71, of Wantage, a retired switchboard operator with Selective Insurance in Branchville, entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover. The daughter of the late Louis and Anna Bozek Osczepinski, she was born on March 19, 1934 in Florida, N.Y. She was an avid bowler with the Tri-Town Ladies Bowling League of Warwick, N.Y. A very attentive card player with the 4 O's Card Club of Goshen, N.Y. Also a member of the Living Rosary Society of St. Stanislaus Church, Pine Island, N.Y, and a member of St. Monica's Church, Sussex. And a frequent traveler to various shrines of her favorite saints. A family statement reads: "Mom devoted most of her time to her children and grandchildren. Her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her family at the holiday table, enjoying her delicious home cooked goodies." "Mom, you were always there for us. We will always love you and remember you. You will always be in our thoughts." Survivors include two sons, Edward "Skip Jr." Bierstine Jr., of Greenville, N.Y and Anthony "Tony" Bierstine, of Wantage; four grandchildren, Nicole, Edward III, Alanna and Jeremy; one brother, Stanley Osczepinski Sr. and wife, Florence, of Goshen, N.Y.; two sisters, Irene Rogowski and Caroline Madura, both of Goshen, N.Y.; Sister - in-law, Agnes Osczepinski of Pine Island, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews; predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Frank, Louis and Albert Osczepinski, formerly of Goshen and three sisters, Loretta Sadowski, formerly of Newark; Alexandra Labanowski and Theresa Sobiech, formerly of Goshen, N.Y. ROONEY, CHERYL A., 46, who taught preschool at Holy Comforter Episcopal Preschool in Vienna, Va., died of cancer at her home in Vienna, Va. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005. Mrs. Rooney was born in Newton, N.J. and moved to Vienna, Va. in 1990. She graduated from Kittatinny Regional High School in 1977 and was a longtime employee with Newton ShopRite. She graduated with a degree in anthropology with honors from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. in 1995. Prior to attending college, she supported her husband, John, through Seton Hall University and the University of Virginia School of Law. Mrs. Rooney taught at Holy Comforter Episcopal Preschool for the last eight years. She was beloved by students and staff and will be remembered for her many colorful holiday costumes, wonderful arts and crafts projects and annual searches for the Leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna, Va. Her beloved black Labrador retriever, Maggie, died on Aug. 10, 2005. Survivors include her husband of 26 years, John J. Rooney of Vienna, Va.; her dog, Stormy; her parents, John and Fran Landgraff of Louisa, Va.; two sisters, Bonnie Barker of Mineral, Va. and Dorothy Batalin of Victoria, Texas, and two brothers, John Landgraff III of Lee's Summit, Mo. and Roy Landgraff of Louisa, Va. and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the MONEY & KING FUNERAL HOME, Vienna, Va., on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Comforter, Vienna, Va.
