Anna Millimet, 97, of Lopatcong Township, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005, in Manor Care Nursing Home, Palmer Township. Born: January 9, 1908, in New York City, a daughter of the late Samuel and Jenette Kurtz. Personal: Her husband, William, passed away in 1979. She had lived in Lopatcong Township for 31 years. At one time, Anna was a salesperson for the Sears & Roebuck Co. in Union City, N.J. Survivors: two sons, Saul S. of Tobyhanna, Pa. and Lloyd H., with whom she resided; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services: Services will be private. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Saddle Brook, N.J. Arrangements under the direction of Rupell Funeral Home, Phillipsburg.
Hazel B. Morris
Hazel B. Morris, 100, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, July 3, 2005, in the Care Center of Phillipsburg, where she resided for the past seven years. Born: August 28, 1904, in Phillipsburg, a daughter of the late Harry and Hattie Scott Hamlen. Personal: Her husband, Karl S., died July 12, 1991. They were married
on September 7, 1926, and lived 61 of their almost 65 years of marriage on Bates Street, Phillipsburg. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1923 and Churchman Business School. She loved to write letters and enjoyed sewing for everyone. She always made time to help people in need, especially children. Memberships: She was very active in many local bible studies, Sunday schools and churches. Over many years of sharing their Christian faith, Hazel and her husband were involved with Westminster Presbyterian Church, Phillipsburg, Calvary Community Church, Harmony, the Prospect Street Mission, Phillipsburg, and Greenwich Presbyterian Church, Greenwich Township. Her most recent membership was with St. James Lutheran Church, Pohatcong Township, where she was baptized in 1904 and attended as a child. Survivors: a sister, Etta Holden of Easton; four sons, Robert K. and his wife, Elaine, of Doraville, Ga., Joel R. and his wife, Sandra, of Plano, Texas, William H. and his wife, Madeline, of Bethlehem and David H. and his wife, Charlotte, of Lopatcong Township; 15 grandchildren, Daniel Morris of North Haven, Conn., David Morris of Alpharetta, Ga., Timothy Morris of Chattanooga, Tenn., Ruth Ann Cassis of University Place, Wash., Virginia Riley of Fort Collins, Colo., Beth Weisel of Windsor Locks, Conn., James Riley of Stewartsville, David Riley of North Richland Hills, Texas, Richard Morris of Plano, Texas, Karla Morris of Farmers Branch, Texas, Lisa Johnson of Bethlehem, Scott Morris of Nazareth, Matthew Morris of Harrisonburg, Va., Rebecca Kuhar of N.Y., N.Y. and Sarah Morris of Allentown; and 36 great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Nancy E. Riley-Miller, passed away October 11, 1994. Three brothers, Ellston, Wilson and Howard, all died earlier. Services: 10 a.m. Friday in Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenwich cemetery. Kathryn R. Flynn
Kathryn R. Flynn, of Lopatcong Township, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2005, in the Country Arch Care Center, Pittstown, N.J. Born: In Morristown, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary Cullen Farrell. Personal: She had lived in the Phillipsburg-Lopatcong Township area since 1966. Prior to that, she lived in Washington, N.J. for 29 years. At one time, Kathryn was a hairdresser in the Morristown, N.J. area. She was also a homemaker. She was a graduate of Morristown High School, Class of 1933. Her husband, Stephen V. Flynn, passed away in 1974. Memberships: She was a member of St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg. She was also a member of the Brakeley Gardens Tenants Association. Survivors: a son, James F., and his wife, Joanne, of Pohatcong Township; a daughter, Patricia J. Pompilio, of South Plainfield, N.J.; ten grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. A son, Stephen T. Flynn, passed away in 1995. Two brothers, Thomas and Charles Farrell, and two sisters, Helen Farrell and Marie Moroney, died earlier as well. Services: 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 830 Fifth Ave. Alpha. Call from 8 a.m. until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Philip and St. James Parish cemetery, Greenwich Township.
David A. Bartholomew
David A. Bartholomew, 54, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the SCCI Unit at Easton Hospital. Born: On August 15, 1950 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Judson F. and Frances Deacon Bartholomew. Personal: He and his wife, the former Elizabeth L. Barden, observed their 16th wedding anniversary on February 1, 2005. A resident of Phillipsburg nearly all of his life, David had been owner of Bartholomew's Wood and Crafts Shop in Phillipsburg. Prior to that, he was maintenance manager at the 76 Truck Stop in Bloomsbury and also had worked in the maintenance department at Camp Hope in Hope, NJ. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1968 and attended Warren County Technical School in Broadway, NJ. He was a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies fan. He loved to fish and collect toy soldiers. He especially enjoyed woodworking, creating crafts, and restoring furniture. Memberships: He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by two daughters, Michelle L. Pignataro of Phillipsburg, NJ, Rachel A. Bartholomew, at home; two brothers, Thomas W. Vannatta of Newbury, NH, Mark S. Bartholomew of Morgantown, WV; a grandson, Vincent Pignataro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services: A cremation will be held. There will be no services. Milton "Gene" Mickel
Milton "Gene" Mickel, 65, of Delaware Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at Easton Hospital. Born: On November 8, 1939 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Milton George and Edith Eldridge Mickel. Personal: He and his wife, the former Mary K. Ott, observed their 38th wedding anniversary on December 31, 2004. A resident of Phillipsburg his entire life, Gene was a truck driver for the New Jersey Department of Transportation, working out of Bloomsbury for 21 years. He last worked on Friday, July 8th. At one time, he served in the Navy. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1958. Memberships: Gene attended Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, Phillipsburg. He was a member of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, Local 195, Trenton. He was also a member of the West Easton A.A., the Global Lottery Collectors Society, the Lehigh Valley Post Card Club, the Garden State Post Card Club, the License Plate Collectors Club, the Garnet Booster Club, the Forks of the Delaware Coin Club, and the Phillipsburg Mall Walkers. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by two sons, James R. Frace of Phillipsburg, NJ, Milton G. Mickel, Jr., at home; five daughters, Jean E. Sagliani of Lopatcong Township, Katherine M. Wismer of Lopatcong Township, Joanne A. Sterk of Bethlehem Township, Pa, Karen S. Faust of Westfield, Pa, Kristi S. Kasza of Phillipsburg, NJ; a step-daughter, Linda Walker of Norristown, Pa; two brothers, Donald W. of Easton, Pa, Raymond L. of Pendel, Pa; 24 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services: Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery, Phillipsburg, NJ. Helen E. Frick
Helen E. Frick, 96, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the Care Center of Lopatcong, Lopatcong Township, NJ. Born: On April 16, 1909 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Jacob H. and Anna Zentrick Frick. Personal: A resident of Phillipsburg her entire life, Helen was a secretary in the purchasing department of the Ingersol-Rand Co. in Phillipsburg for 48 years, retiring in 1974. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1927. Memberships: She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg and was a member of the United Methodist Women of the Church. She was also a member of the AARP and was a volunteer at Warren Hospital for 17 years. Survivors: She is survived by a great-niece, Jennifer Frick; a great-great-nephew, Eric Gibson; two great-great-nieces, Elyse and Sierra Gibson; and a cousin, Cindy Rowan. A great-niece, Lisa Gibson and a brother, Carl J. Frick, both died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Mary Jane Tilton
Mary Jane Tilton, 83, of Palmer Township, Pa, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at Easton Hospital. Born: On April 13, 1922 in Easton, Pa, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Jenny Roberts Ealer. Personal: Her husband, Richard C., passed away on November 3, 1969. A resident of Palmer Township for the last 45 years, Mary Jane was a salesperson at Merwarth's Flower Shop in Wilson Borough for 31 years, retiring in 2000. She graduated from Easton High School, Class of 1940. She was of the Protestant faith. Survivors: She is survived by a son, Richard H. of North Catasauqua, Pa; a daughter, Deborah Lynn Fuller of Parrish, Fl; two brothers, Walter Ealer of Phillipsburg, NJ, Thomas Ealer of Wilson Borough, Pa; a sister, Lillian Claus of Palmer Township, Pa; and a grandson, Christopher Butcher. Two brothers, Jack and Robert Ealer and a sister, Louise Reese, all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Easton Heights cemetery.
Emilia Simon Laczhazy
Emilia Simon Laczhazy, 93, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the Care Center of Lopatcong. Born: On September 21, 1911 in Budapest, Hungary, she was a daughter of the late Janos and Anna Walter Simon. Personal: Her husband, Eugen Laczhazy, passed away in 1980. Emilia was a homemaker. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. Survivors: She is survived by a son, Tibor Laczhazy and his wife, Madeline, with whom she resided; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services: Will be private. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. The Rupell Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
Marie V. Fuehrer
Marie V. Fuehrer, 98, of Ewing, NJ, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2005 at St. Joseph's Nursing Center, Lawrenceville, NJ. Born: On August 26, 1906 in Milburn, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Sherwood and Della Fleming Young. Personal: Her husband of 74 years, Clarence Fuehrer, passed away on May 18, 2001. Marie was a homemaker. She attended Washington, NJ High School. During World War II, she volunteered her services as a nurse's aid with the Trenton, NJ Chapter American Red Cross. She was always generous with her time helping others, especially older senior women who need help in everyday living. Memberships: Marie was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ewing, Ewing, NJ. For many years, Marie was active in their senior church club and the live wire senior group. She was a longtime member of the Washington Chapter #136 Order of Eastern Star, Washington, NJ. Survivors: She is survived by a son, Richard c. of New York City; a sister-in-law, Alola Young of Washington, NJ; and nieces and nephews. Two sons died earlier; Robert, who died in infancy and Sherwood H., who died at the age of 24 in 1964. Also, two brothers, Lester and Sherwood Young, both died earlier. Beatrice M. Harris
Beatrice M. Harris, 80, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's. Born: On September 2, 1924 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lena Woepple O'Hagan. Personal: She was the wife of Earl E. Harris, who passed away in 1963 leaving her at a very young age with four children to raise. She was a wonderful mother, an accomplished and talented seamstress and a loyal and trusted friend. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was of the Lutheran faith. Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Arthur of Phillipsburg, and Edward and his wife, Tracey of Bangor; two daughters, Carol Anderson and her husband, Jim of Phillipsburg, Dale Renner and her husband, Bill of Palmer Township; a brother, Tomas O'Hagan of Las Vegas, Nv; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Michael and Bernard O'Hagan, and three sisters, Helen Thornton, Ruth Williamson, and Anna Kussler, all died earlier. Rev. Paul Weidknecht
Reverend Paul Weidknecht, Jr., 69, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at his home. Born: On August 23, 1935 in Easton, Pa, she was a son of the late Paul and Evelyn Bray Weidknecht. Personal: He and his wife, the former Adelaide Sooy, celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary in January of 2005. Paul worked in the Lord's service at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gloucester City, NJ for three years and at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakewood, NJ for 37 years. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1953. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1957. He went on to attend the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia in Mount Airy, Pa. A devoted husband and father, Paul took great joy in spending time with his family. In his service to God, he sought to help others and enrich their lives. Among his interests were traveling, antique model train collections, classic cars, bluegrass music, and the Philadelphia Eagles. He loved and was loved by his family. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Adelaide, he is survived by two sons, Paul Weidknecht, III and Erik Weidknecht, both of Lopatcong Township, NJ; a daughter, Jill Weidknecht VanHorne and her husband, Van of Horse Shoe, NC; and a grandson, Evan VanHorne. Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Roseberry Street, Phillipsburg, NJ.
