William F. Kane
William F. Kane, 78, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2005 at the Care Center of Lopatcong, Lopatcong Township, NJ. Born: On September 25, 1926 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Charles and Helen Sweeney Kane. Personal: He had lived in Phillipsburg for seven years. Prior to that, he lived in the Clinton, NJ area for 40 years. William was a custodian in the Hopewell Valley School System, retiring in 1991. Prior to that, he was a service station attendant in the Flemington, NJ area. He attended Princeton, NJ High School. Memberships: He had been a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Hopewell, NJ. He was also a member of the Flemington Moose Lodge. Survivors: He is survived by a grandson, Jeremiah Rounsaville of Smithfield, NC; and his companion and caregiver, Ann M. Hoadley of Wilson Borough, Pa. Four brothers, James, Charles, Jack, and Joseph Kane, and a sister, Mary, all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus cemetery, Hopewell, NJ.
Dorothy E. Smith
Dorothy E. Smith, 80, of Harmony Township, NJ, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Warren Hospital. Born: On January 17, 1925 in Broadway, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Frank Van Syckle and Mary Catherine Adams. She was raised by the late Charles and Corey Person. Personal: Her husband of 49 years, Robert L., passed away on January 16, 1995. Dorothy had lived in Harmony Township nearly all of her life. She had worked for 33 years for the Brockway Plastics in Belvidere, NJ, retiring in 1987. She attended Phillipsburg High School. Dorothy was an avid bingo player and enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City, NJ. She found great pleasure in and loved caring for others. Memberships: She was a member of the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Harmony, NJ. She was a social member of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Co. Survivors: She is survived by a son, Charles L. of Harmony Township, NJ; a half-sister, Helen Wolfinger of Belvidere, NJ; three grandchildren, Travis Smith, Crystal Smith, and Sarah Petty, all of Harmony Township, NJ; and two great-grandchildren, Kala Townsend and Tyler Smith, both of Harmony Township. A son, Robert Charles Smith and several half brothers and half sisters, died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Arthur W. Armbruster, Sr.
Arthur W. Armbruster, Sr., 90, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Warren Hospital. Born: On February 2, 1915 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Russell and Abby Hartley Armbruster. Personal: He and his wife, the former Catherine E. Hoadley, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in December of 2004. A resident of Phillipsburg all his life, Arthur was a coremaker in the Iron Foundry at the Ingersol-Rand Co. in Phillipsburg for 43 years, retiring in 1977. He was co-founder of the Steele Hill Boys Club. He coached football and baseball for many years at the boys club. He was a avid fisherman and hunter and also was an avid reader. Memberships: He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg. He was a Boy Scout Leader for the Valley View Scout Troop. He was a social member of the Lincoln Engine Co. in Phillipsburg, and was a member of the Asbury Rod and Gun Club. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Catherine, he is survived by a son, Arthur W. Armbruster, Jr. and his wife, Joy of Phillipsburg; a daughter, Lorraine D. Pitt and her husband, Tony of Easton; five grandchildren, Leslie Pitt, Lori Pinkerton and her husband, Doug, Amy Armbruster, Jill Armbruster, and Jeremy Armbruster; and one great-grandson, Richard Nauman. Sandra J. Jackson
Sandra J. Jackson, 61, of Wilson Borough, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Easton Hospital. Born: On August 1, 1943 in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Fernie H. and Theresa Miers Coates. Personal: She and her husband, Edward F., observed their 11th wedding anniversary in March of 2005. She has lived in Wilson Borough for 10 years, prior to that she lived in Phillipsburg, NJ. Sandra was a food service worker. She worked fro LA Food Service Co. in the Phillipsburg area. She was also a homemaker. She attended Phillipsburg High School. Sandra's whole life was spent in loving all of her family. Memberships: She attended the Bloomsbury Presbyterian Church and was a member of the AARP. Survivors: In addition to her husband, Edward, she is survived by three sons, Paul Black, Jr. of Fort Worth, Tx, Michael Andre of Minneapolis, Minn., Alan Andre of Phillipsburg, NJ; two daughters, Karen Lawrence and Tracey Castronuvo, both of Easton; a brother, William Coates of Bonita Springs, Fl; three sisters, Patricia Rind of Bonita Springs, Fl, Linda Lore and Georgia Jeanes, both of Phillipsburg, NJ; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A sister, Margie Evers, passed away in 1980. Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A cremation will follow. Terrie Lee Cox
Terrie Lee Cox, 42, of Belvidere, N.J., passed away Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Tewksbury Township, N.J. Born: December 31, 1962 in Somerville, N.J., she was a daughter of Janet J. Schaeffer Chiovarou, of Belvidere, N.J., and the late Charles E. Chiovarou. Personal: She had lived in Belvidere for 26 years. Previous to that, she lived in Middlesex, N.J. Terrie was a special education teacher at the Midland School in North Branch, N.J. for four years. She had last worked on Thursday. Prior to that, she taught at the Milford Elementary School, Milford, N.J., the Warren County Special Services District, and the Deron School in Montclair, N.J. She was a graduate of Belvidere High School, Class of 1981, and East Stroudsburg University, Class of 1985. She enjoyed scrap booking. Her life, filled with love, revolved around her family, especially her children and the children of her school. She and her husband, Bradley A. Cox, observed their 19th wedding anniversary on May 31st. Memberships: She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Belvidere. She was also a member of the Warren County Community Singers in Washington, N.J. Survivors: In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two daughters, Kaitlin M. Cox and Meghan E. Cox, both at home; a sister, Cindy Lee Hoffman, and her husband, Michael, of Lower Mt. Bethel Township, Pa.; six nieces and nephews, Michael D. Hoffman, James D. and Madelyn Mc Carron, and C.J., Thomas, and David Mc Devitt. Services: A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Dorothy C. Ohnmacht
Dorothy C. Ohnmacht, 86, of Delaware Park, Lopatcong Township, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005, in Lower Bucks Hospital, Bristol, Pa. Born: February 6, 1919 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Zink Brensinger. Personal: She had lived in the Phillipsburg area all her life. Dorothy was a seamstress for the DiLu Lingerie Company in Easton for 25 years until her retirement in 1984. She was also a homemaker. She attended Easton High School. Memberships: She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Her husband, Cyrus Ohnmacht, passed away in 1960. Survivors: a son, John W. Pysher, at home; a step son, Cyrus Ohnmacht, Jr., of Wilmington, Del.; a daughter, Dawn Mae Flannigan, of Ackermanville, Pa.; a step daughter, Jean Gruhler, of Phillipsburg; a sister, Barbara Weaver, of Easton; 18 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Two daughters, Marjorie A. Albert, and Dorothy Pysher, both died earlier. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. John Kalman
John Kalman, 86, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem, Pa. Born: On March 13, 1919 in Bethlehem, Pa, he was a son of the late Mary Kalman. Personal: His first wife, the former Vilma Orban, passed away in 1982. He was the husband of the former Ruth Kichline. He has lived in Phillipsburg, NJ for 20 years. Prior to that, he lived in Bethlehem Township, Pa. John was a foreman for the former Eastern Trucking Co. in Bethlehem for 30 years before retiring. Prior to that, he worked for Westinghouse Electric Co. in Philadelphia. He attended Bethlehem schools. He was a veteran of the Navy Sea Bees during World War II, serving in the European and African Theatres. Memberships: John was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. He was a member of and past officer of the Phillipsburg Elks Lodge #395. He was also a member of the Phillipsburg Republican Club, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Phillipsburg, NJ, the Heights Social Club of Bethlehem, the Hecktown Fire Co. and the Nancy Run Fire Co., both of Bethlehem. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by two sons, Dennis J. and his wife, Karen of Bethlehem, Ronald J. and his wife, Judy of Boca Rotan, Fl; a daughter, Janet of Boca Rotan, Fl; a brother, Paul of Phoenix, Az; two grandchildren, Michelle and Randy; and four great-grandchildren, John, Cheyenne, Eva, and Ryan. Albert C. Davis
Albert C. Davis, 77, of Pohatcong Township, passed away Friday, June 17, 2005 in his home. Born: February 22, 1928 in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late F. Arling and Florence Moser Davis. Personal: He and his wife, the former Doris M. Dimmick, observed their 54th wedding anniversary in October of 2004. He had lived in Pohatcong Township for 29 years. Prior to that, he lived in Alpha, N.J. Albert was a mechanic with the New Jersey Power and Light Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, he worked at the former J.T. Baker Chemical Co. in Phillipsburg and the Alpha Portland Cement Co. in Easton. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1946. Albert served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved to help people and fully enjoyed the outdoors. Memberships: He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Pohatcong Township, where he had served on the church council and was a former member of the church choir. He was a 55 year member of Phillipsburg Lodge #52 of Free and Accepted Masons, and was a member of, past president, and past secretary of the Forks of the Delaware Coin Club. Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Karen L. Benner, and her fiancee', Marc Karom, of Zionsville, Pa., Gail M. Speidell. and her husband, Bill of Lynchburg, Va., and Sandra J. Davis, of Staten Island, N.Y.; three sisters, Ellen Oblerly, of Big Timber, Montana, Edith Exley, of Bethlehem Township, and Jayne Schutte, of Kankakee, Ill.; four grandchildren, Marc C. Benner, Shelby N. Benner, Matthew A. Benner, and Jay M. Speidell. A grandson, Ian Christopher Speidell, and a brother, Arling Davis, both died earlier. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Zelda F. Haus
Zelda F. Haus, 98, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2005 at her home. Born: On July 23, 1906 in Curwensville, Pa, she was a daughter of the late Rev. L. Raymond and Zelda Gemberling Haus, formerly of Stewartsville, NJ. Personal: Zelda has lived in Phillipsburg nearly all of her life. She was a teacher of Social Studies at Phillipsburg High School for 42 years and served as chairperson of the social studies department for part of that time. She retired from the Phillipsburg School System in 1970. She graduated from Hopewell Township High School in 1923 and graduated fro Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pa with a bachelor's degree in 1927. Memberships: She was a member of St. Paul's Third Lutheran Church in Palmer Township, Pa. She taught Sunday school at the church for 30 years and was also a member of the Lutheran Church Women of the Church. She was a member of the Warren County Retired Educator's Association and served as social service representative for Phillipsburg. She was also a member of the New Jersey Retired Educators Association during her active years, she served as secretary of the Warren County Education Association and for several years was membership chairperson in Warren County for the New Jersey Education Association. Survivors: She is survived by a brother, Paul of Trenton, NJ; and nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Luther, of Allentown, died in 1969 and Philip of Lebanon, NJ, died in 1995. Services: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the church, 2561 Newburg Road, Palmer Township, Easton, Pa. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Shirley C. Reigel
Shirley C. Reigel, 72, of Lopatcong Township, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2005, in her home. Born: December 4, 1932 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Christiana Harding Weller. Personal: She had lived in the Phillipsburg area all her life. Shirley was a homemaker. She was of the Lutheran faith. She attended Phillipsburg High School. Her husband, Harold E. Reigel, passed away May 5, 1994. Memberships: She was a life member of the Humane Society of the United States. Survivors: a son, Frank W. D'Angelo; a step son, Harold E. Reigel, Jr.; a step daughter, Ruth A. Reigel; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, and great- great nieces and nephews. A son, Raymond Reigel, passed away in 1964. Services: Services will be private and at the convenience of her family. Burial will be in Stewartsville Lutheran cemetery. Ronald E. Woolf
Ronald E. Woolf, 63, of Columbia, Knowlton Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, Pa. Born: On April 9, 1942 in Easton, Pa, he was a son of the late Earl R. and Helen Forseman Woolf. Personal: His wife of 33 years, the former Mary L. Burke, passed away on September 30, 2004. He has lived in Columbia, NJ for 29 years. Prior to that he lived in Bloomsbury, NJ, Phillipsburg, NJ, and Easton, Pa. Ronald was a millwright. Before retiring, he worked for 40 years out of the Carpenters Union Local #399 in Phillipsburg, NJ. He was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Ronald graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1960. He was of the Lutheran faith. Memberships: Ronald was l member of the AARP. Survivors: He is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Woolf, Jr. of Naples, Fl, Scott A. Lindaberry and his wife, Marilyn of Glenville, WV; a step-son, Richard Singer, Jr. of Bethlehem, Pa; two step-daughters, Tina M. Colabaugh and her husband, William of Bethlehem Township, Pa, Vickie Trayes of Montrose, Pa; a brother, Roger E. of Washington, NJ; eight grandchildren, William M. Colabaugh and his wife, Mandy, Stephanie and Ashley Colabaugh, Brian J. Selzer, Christopher M. Selzer, Steven A. Lindaberry and Daniel N. Colby-Lindaberry; and three great-grandchildren, Summer and Aria Colabaugh, and Wyatt Selzer. A granddaughter, Kresten Colabaugh, passed away in 1983.
