Luther B. Henry
Luther B. Henry, 79, of Stewartsville, N.J., passed away Saturday, March 5, 2005, in his home. Born: March 5, 1926 in Easton, he was a son of the late J. William and Edith Beers Henry. Personal: He had lived in Stewartsville for 51 years. Luther was the owner of L.B. Henry Electrical Contractor Co. in Stewartsville for 27 years. For 13 years, he was plant electrician at the Koh-I-Noor Co. in Bloomsbury, N.J. until his retirement in 1991. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Atlantic Theatre. He and his loving wife, the former Lillian Richline, observed their 55th wedding anniversary in July 2004. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and was also a member of the Band Boosters Club. He enjoyed boating, camping, working with wood, and artistic painting. He loved doing things with his family and his grandchildren. Memberships: He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Pohatcong Township, where he served on the church council for many years. He was also a member of the Friendship Group of the church, and was a youth group leader, Boy Scout leader, and was a part of the Meals on Wheels program at the church. He was a Greenwich Township committeeman for 9 years and served as mayor for 3 years. He was a member of Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla #10-3 in Easton, Mescey-Bishop American Legion Post #456 in Stewartsville, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Easton. He was also a member of the Electric League of Easton and Phillipsburg. Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Nancy J. Carhart, and her husband, Robert, of Wind Gap, Luann T. Beatty, and her husband, Steven, of Milford, N.J., and Wendy S. Beyda, and her husband, Jay, of Marlboro, N.J., and seven grandchildren, Michelle Braunworth, Robert and Michael Carhart, Richard and Jeffrey Beatty, and Rachel and Jessica Beyda. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church, 1213 U.S. Highway 22, Pohatcong, N.J. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Ernest Linsenbigler
Ernest Linsenbigler, 82, formerly of Lopatcong Township, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, in Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, N.J. Born: January 23, 1923, in Bethlehem, a son of the late Owen and Daisy Moser Linsenbigler. Personal: His wife, the former Agnes V. Taylor, passed away in 2002. He had been a resident of Lopatcong Township for 41 years. He was a pigment mixer for the former Reichard and Coulson Co. in Bethlehem for 30 years, retiring as a foreman in 1979. Memberships: He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. Survivors: a daughter, Gail I. Linsenbigler of Phillipsburg; two brothers, Claude and Leroy Linsenbigler, both of Allentown; two sisters, Grace White of Prospect, Kentucky and Jean Miller of Ocala, Fla.; nieces and nephews. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in Grace Lutheran Church, Roseberry St. at Corliss Ave., Phillipsburg. Mabel Snover
Mabel Snover, 96, of Allentown, Pa, formerly of Stewartsville, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Manor Care Nursing Home, Allentown, Pa. Born: On October 14, 1908, in Stewartsville, NJ, she was the last of 13 children born to the late Emery and Nancy Deats Gunderman. Personal: Her husband, John C. passed away in 1990. She has lived in Allentown for three years. Prior to that, she lived in Stewartsville nearly all of her life. Mabel was a homemaker. Memberships: She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Stewartsville, NJ. Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Ernest of Lopatcong Township, NJ, Kenneth of Bethlehem, Pa; a daughter, Joyce Amore of Allentown, Pa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Stanley and Karl A., and a grandson, Karl, Jr., all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Stewartsville Lutheran cemetery, Stewartsville, NJ.
Juan A. Morales
Juan A. Morales, 56, of Stewartsville, NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2005 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born: On September 4, 1948 in Monterrey, Mexico, he was a son of Guadalupe Morales of East Chicago, Ind. and the late Aurelia Lozano Morales. Personal: He and his wife, the former Linda Carroll observed their 31st wedding anniversary in October of 2004. A resident of Stewartsville, NJ for the past 10 years, he was a logistics manager for Toyota Logistic services at Port Newark, NJ for 17 years. He last worked in May of 2004. He was a Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Washington High School, East Chicago, Ind., Class of 1967. He graduated from Purdue University and received his Master's Degree from Ind. University. Juan was an avid golfer. Memberships: He was a member of Church of the Annunciation, Bloomsbury, NJ. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by three sons, Nicholas and his wife, Katherine of Midlothiam, Va, Joseph J. of State College, Pa, Matthew T. of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Cesar of Scherrerville, Ind., Thomas of East Chicago, Ind.; three sisters, Maria and Blanca, both of East Chicago, Ind., Sylvia Zepeda of Chicago, Ill. Services: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the church, 80 Main Street, Bloomsbury, NJ at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Carl R. Werkheiser
Carl R. Werkheiser, 84, of Nazareth, formerly of Bangor, Pa, and Belvidere, NJ, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem. Born: On June 4, 1920 in Easton, he was a son of the late George R. and Margaret Lehr Werkheiser. Personal: His wife the former Dorothy Everitt Pursell passed away in 1979. He resided at Gracedale for the last four years. Prior to that, he lived in Bangor for 19 years, and he also lived in Belvidere, NJ and Williams Township. At one time he worked at the Chipman Knitting Mill. Later, he worked at the Metropolitan Edison Co. He also had been a supervisor at the Morey-LaRue Laundries. He was last owner of Werkheiser Florist in Belvidere for 20 years, retiring in 1982. In retirement, he worked for Globe Security. Carl attended Easton High School. He received certificates from Rutgers University and Penn State University in Horticulture. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Engineers with the 7th Armored Division in the European Theatre. He was of the Lutheran faith. Memberships: Carl was a 50 year member of the Dallas-Lafayette Lodge #396, F & AM, Easton. He was also a 50 year member of the Easton Forest #35, Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Survivors: He is survived by a son, Barry C. of Williams Township, Pa; two step-sons, Lester B. Pursell of Lake Canadaigua, NY, Robert B. Pursell of Belvidere, NJ; two step-daughters, Brenda O'Neil of Mt. Lake, White Township, NJ, Melody Bastian of Lower Mt. Bethel Township, Pa; a sister, Frances P. Kunsman, with whom he resided in Bangor, Pa; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Five brothers, Harold, Roger, Richard, James and Robert, and two sisters, Betty and Elsie Kunsman, and a step-sister, Esther Graeff, all died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Masonic services will be held on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Evelyn E. Ameer
Evelyn E. Ameer, 77, of Lopatcong Township, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005, in her home. Born: January 17, 1928, in Lancaster, Pa., a daughter of the late Christian and Elma Landis Harnish. Personal: She and her husband, George J., observed their 18th wedding anniversary in December 2004. She had lived in Lopatcong Township for the past 17 years, coming from Milford, N.J. She graduated from Millersville High School, class of 1945, Millersville, Pa., and she had attended Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana. She was a health care giver in the Hunterdon County area. Previous to that, she worked for the Brush-Wellman Co. in Union Township, N.J. She was also a homemaker. Memberships: She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Phillipsburg where she participated in the Bible Study Group. She was a former member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Phillipsburg where she was a member of the Senior Bible Study Group. She also had been a long time member of the Alpha Mennonite Church. Survivors: her husband; three sons, Herbert E. Rohrer and his wife, Linda, of Holland Township, Mervin L. Rohrer and his wife, Chol-Mi, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Timothy Rohrer of Coudersport, Pa.; a daughter, Janice J. Snow and her husband, Bill, of Honesdale, Pa.; a sister, Dolly Kepners of New Danville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services: 12 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Phillipsburg, 810 Red School Lane, Phillipsburg. A calling hour will be held 11 a.m. to time of service Wednesday in the church. Robert E. Packard
Robert E. Packard, 36, of Lancaster, Pa, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at his home. Born: On August 28, 1968 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of Arnold N. and Janet McCann Packard of Lopatcong Township, NJ. Personal: He has lived in the Lancaster area for 10 years. Prior to that, he lived in Lopatcong Township, NJ. Robert was self employed in Telemarketing in the Lancaster area. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1987, where he played varsity football and was a member of the varsity wrestling team. He graduated from Kutztown University, Class of 1992, where he was also part of the varsity wrestling team and played varsity football. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking. He was a scuba diving enthusiast and enjoyed competitive rugby. Memberships: Robert was of the Catholic faith, and was a former member of Ss. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg, NJ. Survivors: In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Brian Mark Packard and his wife, Rocio of Portage, Mich; a sister, Lori Ann Hull and her husband, Christopher of Lopatcong Township; paternal grandfather, Earl Chegwidden of Lopatcong Township; three nieces, Christine, Melissa, and Natalie; two nephews, Samuel and Brian, Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Warren S. Taylor
Warren S. Taylor, 77, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Warren Hospital. Born: On October 26, 1927 in Pohatcong Township, NJ, he was a son of the late John H. and Nettie Dietrick Taylor. Personal: His wife, the former Helen M. Orth, passed away in 1995. Warren was self employed. He was owner of the Taylor Trucking Co., Phillipsburg for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Prior to that, he was a routeman for Abbott's Dairy in Bethlehem. He enjoyed playing golf and trips to Atlantic City. He especially enjoyed his time with his special friend, Chip, his terrier. Memberships: Warren was a lifelong member of the Citizens Hose in Easton, Liberty Hose Co., Easton, Safety First Fire Co., West Easton, Avona Fire Co., Wilson Borough, the Easton Fleas Club, and the West Easton Athletic Association. Was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star. Survivors: He is survived by two daughters, Diane L. Brown and her husband, Rick of Bethlehem, Pa, Debra A. Williams and her husband, Bill of Bethlehem; and four grandchildren, Mandi and Ryan Brown, and Billy and Ashley Williams. A son, Warren J., passed away in 1998, and a brother, John also died earlier. Services: Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:30 p.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 7 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment of cremains will be at Northampton Memorial Shrine. Caroline Kleedorfer
Caroline Kleedorfer, 75, of Fultonville, N.Y., passed away peacefully, Friday, April 15, 2005, in Montgomery Meadows, Fultonville, N.Y. Born: July 25, 1929 in Asbury, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Beers Inscho. Personal: She was educated and lived in the Asbury area for most of her life. She moved to Fultonville, N.Y. last year to be near her son and daughter in law. She was a homemaker and loved to fish. Her strong faith sustained her through many difficult times in her life. Her husband, Edward Kleedorfer, Sr., died in 1997. They were married
in 1946. Memberships: She was an active member of the Washington Assembly of God, Washington, N.J. Survivors: two sons, Harry K., and his wife, Becky, of Polk, Fla., and Frederick G., and his wife, Jennifer, of Fultonville, N.Y., with whom she resided; a daughter, Diane Diltz, in Nevada; a daughter in law, Laurie Kleedorfer, of Phillipsburg; four sisters, Isabelle Rienbold and Anna May Matlock, both of Phillipsburg, Mildred Souders, of Bloomsbury, N.J., and Jennie Latourette, of Tucson, Ariz.; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A son, Edward, Jr., died earlier. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home. Mary Huff
Mary M. Huff, 82, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Warren Hospital. Born: On August 25, 1922 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Maude Garis McMullen. Personal: Her husband, Frank E. Huff passed away in 1974. Mary was a bookkeeper in the Turbo Division of the Ingersol-Rand Co., Phillipsburg for 22 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she worked at Woolworth's in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, Phillipsburg. In retirement, she worked for the Phillipsburg Parking Authority. She last worked in 1993. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1941. Mary was an avid reader. Memberships: Mary was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. She was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, and the Brakeley Tenets Association. Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Gregory R. Huff and his wife, Bonnie of Stewartsville, NJ, Kevin R. Huff of Wilson Borough, Pa; three daughters, Nancy L. Savercool and her husband, Ralph of Phillipsburg, Colleen M. Robertson and her husband, Paul of Fort Worth, Tx, Christine M. Crosson and her husband, Jeffrey of Hellertown, Pa; a sister, Betty King of Riverside, Ca; nine grandchildren, Brian and Michael Savercool, Jeffrey Crosson, II, and Jillian Bullock, Stephanie and Stacey Huff, Amy Harman, Kevin Huff, Jr. and Melissa Huff. She is also survived by six great grandchildren. Three brothers, Charles, Henry, and Robert McMullen, and two sisters, Margaret Lutz, and Jean Surface, died earlier. Elma F. Kerbaugh
Elma F. Kerbaugh, 97, of Phillipsburg, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2005, in her home. Born: September 29, 1907, in Allentown, a daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Weisbach Magee. Personal: Her husband of 71 years, Edward R. Sr., passed away in October 2000. She had lived in the Pohatcong Township and Phillipsburg area nearly all her life. She was a graduate of Allentown High School, class of 1925. At one time, she was a bookkeeper for the former Charis Corp. in Allentown. She was also a homemaker. Memberships: She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Easton, where she was a member of the Willing Workers of St. John's and a former Sunday school teacher of the church. She was a past president of the Pohatcong Parent Teachers Association, a member of the auxiliary of the Lehigh Consistory in Allentown, Sunny Seniors of Phillipsburg and Phillipsburg Senior Center, and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors: a son, Edward R. Jr. of Phillipsburg; two daughters, Gayle D. Kerbaugh of Phillipsburg and Eileen M. Kerbaugh of Boca Raton, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Clayton Magee, and a sister, Evelyn Westerman. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Mae S. Carpenter
Mae S. Carpenter, 82, of Palmer Township, PA, formerly of Pohatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2005 in Easton Hospital. Born: March 16, 1923 in Pohatcong Township, where she resided until 2001, when she moved to Palmer Township. She was a daughter of the late Jesse and Elizabeth Piatt Melick of Pohatcong Township. Personal: Her husband, Donald V. passed away in 1988. Mae was a homemaker. Memberships: Mae was a member of St. James Lutheran (Straw) Church. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, class of 1940, and was a member of AARP, Phillipsburg Chapter and enjoyed taking trips and traveling with that group. Mae was an avid reader and a devoted friend to the members of the "Huntington Girls Club", active since childhood and still meeting twice a year. Survivors: sons Bruce D. and his wife Jeanne of Palmer Township, and David H. of Gouldsboro, PA; daughter Donna M. Kasenga and her husband James of Palmer Township.; brother Orton "Ump" Melick of Pohatcong Township; sisters Ruth Struthers of Bangor, PA and Jean Rapp of Pohatcong Township; five grandchildren, Deanna Webb, Donald Carpenter, Eric Carpenter, Joshua Kasenga and Jamie Kasenga. She was preceded in death by a brother Lester "Shorty" Melick, and a sister Dorothy Coopersmith. Services: Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg.
