Vaden, Christa E.
Christa E. Vaden, 51, of Rio Grande, passed away at home on Saturday, March 2, 2002, following a two year encounter with the disease of cancer.
Born in Heidelberg, Germany, Christa is the beloved daughter of Frances Davis Phelps of Rio Grande and Colonel (Ret.) William S. Phelps of Laurel, MD. She is beloved by her husband, Andrew R. Vaden and sons, Matthew R. and Ross A. of Rio Grande.
Christa, after living in Germany and Japan, came to reside in Wildwood. Her primary and secondary education was completed in the Wildwood Public Schools system. She later acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from Stockton State College.
Her working years were spent as a service assistant with NJ Bell Telephone; a social worker with Rutgers Extension Service and as a claims examiner for the New Jersey Department of Labor.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Simeon's by the Sea Episcopal Church, 2502 Central Avenue, Wildwood, NJ. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery, Cape May Court House. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, and on Friday, March 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of St. Simeon's Church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Treatment, Research, or other charities associated to the Cancer Society.
VADENAIS, Marcel L.
On March 22, 2004 of Voorhees, NJ for 23 years, formerly of Feasterville, PA. Age 77. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Dever) Loving father of Roger Vadenais and his wife Jayne, Denise Berwind and her husband Edward and stepfather of John Noll and his wife Lynda, Bruce Noll and his wife Stephanie, Eileen Chiatello and her husband Richard, and Gail Hardison and her husband Anthony Boyle. Devoted grandfather of Lauren Vadenais, Amy, Heather, Kyle, Carissa, Robert, Gabriel, Carleigh, Desiree, and Amanda and great grandfather of Nikolas and Shane. Mr. Vadenais was a graduate of Mt Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He formerly worked for Girard Bank and was formerly the President of Citizens Bank in Phila and Washington Bank in Turnersville. He later worked as a management consultant with the Princeton Group. He was also an avid Flyers and Phillies fan. Valentine, Gianni Myra Marie
Gianni Myra Marie Valentine, infant daughter of Charlene Valentine and Tyrone Williams, died on March 28, 2002, at the Cooper Medical Center, Camden, NJ, where she was born on March 23, 2002. She is survived by her maternal grandmother: Lori Kathy Mowatt and step grandfather: Murry Mowatt of Cape May Court House, NJ; her maternal grandfather: Michael Finnell of Kansas City, MO; paternal grandparents: Lewis and Frienda Searles of Swedesboro, NJ; maternal great grandmother: Jean Oxendine of North Cape May, NJ; and maternal step great grandfather: William E. Vallese, Helen M.
Helen M. Vallese, 83, of Woodbine, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2004 at her home after a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia to the late Anthony and Rozalia (Lalik) Mayshura, she was a lifetime resident of Woodbine. She formerly worked at Feit's Clothing Factory. She was a member of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed all of her pets. She loved being around her house, especially the outdoors and working in her garden.
Mrs. Vallese is survived by her husband of 55 years, Louis; her son, Anthony of Woodbine; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Liturgy will be said on Thursday, April 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir's R.C. Church, where relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir's cemetery. Van de Pol, Herbert A.
Herbert A. Van de Pol, 88, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was a resident of Cape May County, NJ for 82 years. He lived in Stone Harbor, NJ 53 years where he served on the Stone Harbor Borough Council from January 2, 1950 to December 13, 1973; he served as president from 1961 to 1973.
He was retired from Owens-Illinois in Vineland, NJ as a mechanical engineer. He attended Drexel Institute. He was a member of the Stone Harbor Fire Company; the North Italy Club of Vineland; the Villas, NJ Fishing Club; the Cape May County MUA; and a member of the F & AM Masonic Lodge of Vineland.
He is survived by his wife: Martha K.; four children: Herbert D. of Palm Beach County, FL, Wayne of Russellville, AK; Kathleen Greene of FL, and Mary Alice Van de Pol of Boca Raton, FL; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2002, at 11:00 AM at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Av., Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Interment is private.
Van Meter, Sr., Robert J.
Robert J. Van Meter Sr., 79, of Rio Grande, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia and moved here 14 years ago. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, and Local 22 Firefighters Union. He was a firefighter for the City of Philadelphia. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his sons, John R. Van Meter of Philadelphia, and Robert J. Van Meter, Jr. of Wildwood Crest; his grandchildren, Jacqueline and John; and 2 great granddaughters.
Funeral Liturgy will be said on Monday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels, Parkway & E. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.

VANAMAN, Ralph E., Sr.. 81 years old, passed away on January 23, 2002. Mr. Vanaman was born in Millville, NJ and lived in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Survived by his wife of 46 yrs, Florence, 3 children: Lydia Marsh, Leslie Dougherty and Ralph E. Vanaman Jr. Also surived by 7 grandchilden: Ashley, Chelsea and Brittnee Marsh, Eric Childers and Matthew Dougherty, Alexander and Jo Jo Vanaman. Mr. Vanaman was a veteran of the US ARMY and served during WWII. He was a life-long employee of RCA-GE and Lockheed Martin. He was a also a member of the Masons. VAN SCIVER, Olive G. (nee George) on July 22, 2004, of Haddonfield. Age 95. Beloved wife of the late Granville L. Van Sciver. She is the loving mother of Lynne Sproule Scheiter and the late Bernice Panfili Smith. Loving sister of Cassin & Walter George. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Van Sciver was a bookkeeper for W.B. Saunders Co., Phila until she retired in 1963. For 65 years, Mrs. Van Sciver resided in Haddonfield on Hopkins Ave. until the age of 91 when she moved to the assisted living section of the Haddonfield Home. Eugene C. VanWicklen, Sr., 62, of Villas, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. Born in Freeport, Long Island to the late Eugene Francis and Muriel (Diekman) VanWicklen, he moved here in September, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred (Wolfe) VanWicklen; his son, Eugene C. VanWicklen, Jr. of North Cape May; his daughters, Linda Haug and Tracy VanWicklen, both of Villas; his brother, Bruce VanWicklen of Amityville, NY; his sisters, Elaine Starkman of Bayshore, Long Island, and Ruth Barstow of Asheville, NC; and his granddaughter, Nikki Haug of Villas.
Services are private at the convenience of the family.
Vassallo, Louis
Louis Vassallo, 88, of the Erma section of Lower Township, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2001, at the Court House Convalescent Center. He was born in Philadelphia and lived in this area for twenty four years. He was the owner of Jerry's Produce located in the Villas prior to retirement. He previously had worked for Midvale Steel and at the age of 17 had worked for Acme Markets.
Mr. Vassallo is survived by his wife, Rose; a son, David of Cape May Court House; a daughter, Rosemarie DelVecchio of Margate; two grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters, whom he helped raise being one of eleven children. Services and interment are private.

Venturino, Charlotte F., age 63, a former long time resident of North Cape May, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in Ocala, FL. She was born in Atlantic City. She was formerly employed by Cargo Candy, Emsig Button Co., and Everlon Fabrics while living in Cape May County. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxillary of the Villas and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1054 of Erma.
She is survived by her husband, Michael J., Jr.; a son: Michael J., III and his wife, Lesley; three brothers: Jerry Brennan of Texas, Andy LaMaine of Brigantine, Joe LaMaine of Ventnor; five sisters: Eileen Smith of Atlantic City, Joan Burk of Ventnor, Diane Hedrick of Scullville, Helen DeSalle of Linwood, and Rosie Jones of Atlantic City; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents: Nicholas, Sr. and Ann LaMaine; a sister: Janet Onesky; a brother: Nicholas LaMaine; and a daughter: Jovina Ann Altman Venturino.

Verderosa, Theresa Jannicelli
THERESA JANNICELLI VERDEROSA, of OCEANPORT, died Wednesday at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. She was a teacher for the Newark school system before retiring in 1976. She was a parishioner of St. Dorothea's Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. She was a retired member of the Teachers Association and a member of the Oceanport Seniors. Born in Newark, she lived there before moving to Oceanport 26 years ago.
Her husband, Rocco V. Verderosa, died in 1990. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Carmine A. and Emma Jean Verderosa of Bayville, Berkeley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Madeline Verderosa of Oceanport, and Teresa and Joseph Pannullo of East Hanover; a brother, Daniel Jannicelli of Nutley; a sister, Mary Rullis of Newark; three grandchildren, Gina, Roxanne and Sarah; and seven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Damiano Funeral Home, Third and Franklin avenues, Long Branch. Verna, Vincent Anthony
Vincent Anthony Verna, 72, of Ventnor City, died on Thursday, January 24, 2002 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. He was born in Atlantic City and was a lifetime resident of Atlantic County. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Verna is survived by his daughter, Michele Hume and her husband, Larry of Erma; his son, Vincent and his wife, Denise of Egg Harbor Township; his sisters, Corine Zingarelli and Jeanette Goukler, both of Ventnor City; and his four grandchildren.
