McDowell, Louis F.

McDOWELL, Louis F. on November 4, 2009, of Cherry Hill NJ. Age 94. Beloved husband of 72 years of Florence McDowell. He is survived by 2 daughters, Jeanette Coppilino and Edith Freyberger and 3 grandchildren Louie, Dereck and Cheryl. Louis is also survived by a sister Doris and many great-grandchildren. A Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, he served in the Pacific Campaign. Mr. McDowell was past Master of Universal Lodge and a member of Trimble and Mozart Lodges. He was employed with Sara Lee/Monarch Foods for over 50 years retiring as General Manager and was a proud charitable donor to Shriner's Hospital, Phila. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Tuesday Nov. 10 from 10-11am at the Bradley Funeral Home rt. 73 & Evesham Rd. Marlton where a Funeral Service will be held at 11am. McElhatton, Sr., James M.

James. M. McElhatton, Sr., age 62, formerly of Cape May Court House, died Saturday, September 10, after a brief battle with esophageal cancer.

He was raised in Philadelphia, the oldest of the five children of James A. and Rita (McCarthy) McElhatton. He attended North Catholic High School where he excelled in baseball. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from LaSalle College.

At age 15 his dad took him on a sightseeing flight of Cape May County. That short ride inspired him to pursue a career in aviation.

After college he joined the U.S.Navy (1965-1970). There he earned the rank of Lieutenant and trained as a pilot. After his years in the military he became a commercial airline pilot and flew for Eastern Airlines, Trump Shuttle, and US Airways. His favorite years as a commercial pilot were those spent flying the shuttle out of LaGuardia Airport for US Airways. After he retired from flying in 2003, he teamed with friends Chuck and Joann to work in real estate.

He often said the best day of his life was 7/10/70 when he met his future wife Dolores Carey at Gallagher's in Avalon. They married 9/11/71 and had three great kids. Recently they moved to Egg Harbor, NJ.

Besides his loving wife Dolores he is survived by son James, Jr. of Alexandria, Va., daughter Ann Elizabeth of West Palm Beach, Fla., daughter-in-law Jessica, grandson Jackson. He is preceded in death by son Peter, and parents James A. and Rita.

He is also survived by brothers John Barry (Tina) of Vienna, Va., Daniel (Rosemary) of Phila., Michael (Sue) of Haddon Heights, sister Monica McGrath (James) of Phila., and many nieces and nephews in both the McElhatton and Carey families.

Jim was a quiet, unassuming caring man with a great sense of humor. Faith, family, friends and the Phillies meant everything to Jim.

In lieu of flowers please perform some act of kindness in memory of Jim's spirit.

A mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept.15 at St. Paul's Church, 99th St. & 3rd Ave., Stone Harbor, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Mary's cemetery, Seashore Rd., Cape May, NJ.

McElroy, Amanda L.

McElroy, Amanda L., 29, of Swainton, NJ passed away. Born in Milford CT to Hugh and Monica (Torreso) McElroy, she came to the area shortly after. She grew up in Avalon and attended Avalon Elementary then graduated from Middle Township High School. She sang in the NJ Honors Choir from grades 3 thru 12 and the Rowan University Choir. She managed the Middle Girls Basketball Team, was a member of the Middle H.S. Color Guard, loved animals, and helped care for her grandparents Hugh and Ruth McElroy until Ruth's passing in 2002.

Amanda is survived by her father, Hugh (Judy) McElroy, Jr. (Flower Mound, TX), her mother, Monica Strothman (West Deptford, NJ), grandfather Hugh E. McElroy, Sr. (Flower Mound, TX); brothers, Patrick McElroy (Flower Mound, TX) and Hugh McElroy III (Narberth, PA) and his fiancée Victoria Mossbrook; and nephew Hugh David McElroy.

A Memorial Service will be held on March 21, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Jude's Church in 707 Monroe Turnpike (Rt. 111), Monroe, CT. McElroy, Ruth Alice

Ruth Alice McElroy, 80, of Swainton, died on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. She was born in Philadelphia and lived in Connecticut before moving here in 1980. She was retired from the D.M. Read Retail Clothing having worked in the Sales and Marketing Department. She was active volunteering at many Geriatric Care Centers in Connecticut. She was active in Altar Guilds in Episcopal Churches throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut. She was a defense worker during World War II at the Kaiser Fleet Wings and recently had worked at the Windrift Restaurant in Avalon. She was a graduate of Rider College.

She is survived by her husband of fifty six years, Hugh E.; her son, Hugh E., Jr. of Avalon; and her three grandchildren that she helped raise, Hugh III, Amanda, and Patrick McElroy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where friends may call at 11:00 a.m. Interment is private. McElvarr, James J.

JAMES J. McELVARR, of Medford, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6th, 2007 at the Virtua Hospital in Marlton, NJ. He was 65. Born in Audubon, NJ, he resided in Medford for the past 36 yrs., moving there from Audubon, NJ. Jim was a retired Maintenance Worker for the Medford Twp. Board of Ed retiring in 2003 after 23 years with the district and was also a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Church in Medford, NJ. He is the Beloved husband of Verna R. (Nee Walker) of Medford, NJ and the Loving Father of James J. III of Sicklerville, NJ and Kathleen R. Garrity and her husband Jeffery of Las Vegas, NV. McErlain, Louise D. (nee DeMuro) of Philadelphia, Ocean City, and Smithville. passed away at home on June 3, 2006. By her side was her beloved husband of 54 years John L. McFADDEN, on December 18, 2002, John J. of Marlton, formerly of Queens NY and New Port Richey FL, age 92. Beloved husband of Elsie McFadden (nee Scheer). He is survived by 3 sons, Stephen (Elvia) McFadden of Houston TX, John (Margaret) McFadden of Amherst VA & William (Kathleen) McFadden of Leesburg VA, 2 daughters, Maureen (Gerard) Muro of Lloyd Harbor NY and Jean Gorman of Marlton NJ, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. McFarland, Shirley

Shirley McFarland, age 84 years of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Tuesday, October 6, 2009. Born in Millville, NJ to the late Russell M. Marshall & Pearl Cox, she has been a resident here since 1984 coming from Millville, NJ. Shirley was a Registered Nursed retiring in 1984 after 30 years at Millville Hospital where she worked on the maternity floor most of her career. She graduated from Millville High School, Class of 1942 and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1946. She was a former 50 year member of the Second Methodist Church of Millville and current member of the First United Methodist Church of Cape May Court House where she participated in many circles and study groups.

She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin & Pearl Marshall, her husband Boncell McFarland in March of 1991 and her brother Melvin Marshall, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Sandie Barbour of Cape May Court House, NJ, two sons; Rodney K. and his wife Annette McFarland & Daniel and his wife Maritza McFarland, both of Millville, two grand daughters; Jill Barbour & Kelly Barbour and two great grand children; Annastasia & Raymond.

Memorial services 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, 1 Church Street, Cape May Court House, where relatives and friends may call after 1:30 pm. Interment will be private at the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.

McFarland, Jr., Chester William

CHESTER WILLIAM MC FARLAND JR., 58, of WEST LONG BRANCH, passed away on Monday, Jan. 31, due to respiratory complications. He grew up in Pico Rivera, and resided most of his life in Southern California before moving to New Jersey in 1999. He will be remembered most and missed for his sense of humor and generosity he always showed others.

Surviving are his two older sisters, Chetleen Heckathorne and Christine Catalfino; three children, Randy and Nathan McFarland, and Christi Milleson; and his current fiancee, Gail Corder.

A memorial service will be held in San Diego, Calif., during the spring. He will be laid to rest in Veterans Memorial cemetery, honoring his service to this country during the Vietnam War. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements.

McGARVEY, Francis X.

On January 20, 2010. Of Cherry Hill. Age 90. Beloved husband of Grace (nee Leimkuhler) for 68 years. Loving father of Frank McGarvey (Shirley), Patricia McGarvey (Judi), Ellen Marts and Debra Davis (Patrick). Devoted grandfather of Lisa, Chrisie, Scott, Kelli, Stacy, Sean and Ian and great grandfather of Mauriella, Kate Otter, and Garrett. He will also be missed by his dog, Buttons. Mr. McGarvey was born in Kingston, NY and attended a one room schoolhouse there. While serving in the Army, he worked on the Manhattan project. He received his Masters Degree from University of Pennsylvania and worked as a chemical engineer for Rohm and Haas and later Sybron Chemical. He was a member of several professional associations including the American Chemical Society. McGarvey, Steven W.

STEVEN W. McGARVEY of Medford, NJ, passed suddenly on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in Baltimore, MD. He was 55 yrs. of age. Born in Camden, NJ the son of the late Lobert (Vince) & Elizabeth (Betty) McGarvey, he has resided in Medford since 1959 moving there from Camden, NJ. A former Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety for Medford Twp., Steve served the community from 1968 until his retirement in 2000. He was also a co-owner of the StressLab in Medford and most recently enjoyed life as a Brokerage and Yacht Sales Consultant for Marine Max in Somers Point, NJ. He is the Beloved Husband of Joyce (Nee Barricelli) McGarvey of Medford, NJ, the brother of James McGarvey and his wife Ruth of Medford, NJ and the brother-in-law of June Fisher of Perkasie, PA and Diana & David Higginbotham of McVeytown, PA. McGETTIGAN, suddenly on June 21, 2003, Charles L. 'Chuck' of Evesham NJ. Age 64. He is the beloved husband of Eleanor F. McGettigan (nee Furrer). Loving father of Elaine C. McGettigan of Burlington Twp. NJ, Barbara A. McGettigan of Evesham NJ and Michael D. McGettigan of Fairfield CT, son of Victoria McGettigan and brother of Rev. David McGettigan (Kathy). Also survived by many loving family members. Mr. McGettigan is a 1957 graduate of Roman Catholic High School, Phila. For the past 12 years, he was the Community Service Officer for the Evesham Twp. Police Dept. Prior to that he was employed with Cigna for 34 years. He was a Blue & Gold Information Officer for the United States Naval Academy for 14 years and a member of the Evesham Twp. Fire Dept., a 15 year volunteer firefighter with Station 225 where he currently served as President. He has been a member of St. Joan of Arc Church for the past 31 years. McGettigan, Sr., James F.

McGETTIGAN, Suddenly on November 20, 2003, James F., Sr. of Marlton, NJ Formerly of Phila. Age 70. Loving husband of Katheryn McGettigan (nee Jones). Beloved father of James, Jr. and his wife, Colleen and Craig McGettigan, Mary Ann Mena, Kathleen and her husband, Robert Akeret Sr. and Suzanne McGettigan and her husband, Mark West. Also survived by a brother Charles McGettigan and his wife, Evelyn and 6 grandchildren, Fiona Maeve and Liam James McGettigan, Rebekah and Walter Mena, and Robert Jr. and Jane Akeret. Jim received his Bachelor's Degree from LaSalle University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and received his Master's Degrees from LaSalle and Columbia Universities. He also completed his PhD at Columbia University. Mr. McGettigan was an educator, teaching in Baltimore MD, Canton OH and Pleasantville NJ within grades 7-12 and in the Special Education Department. He also taught at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland OH and Temple University in Philadelphia PA. With his graduate studies, Jim has been able to teach and research in higher education and publish articles and book chapters on learning. For 3 years, he served as Comprehensive Personnel Development Coordinator for the NJ State Depatrment of Education in the Southern 7 counties. For the past 17 years, Jim has owned and operated McGettigan & Associates, an organizational development consulting business in the profit and not for profit domains. He has consulted with Becton Dickinson, Mars, Inc., Georgia Baptist Health Services, Union Oil of California and AMETEK U.S. Gauge. Jim has consulted in the Pennsauken schools for over a 3 decade span. His activities include mentoring, training, research, designing and delivering innovative approaches to improving production in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, managing for health service delivery and managing white collar workers for efficiency and effectiveness. His combination of careers of education and business ventures came about through a Department of Labor grant in Pennsylvania, which required industries to document whether and how training and learning yielding reduced company costs. Jim designed and delivered the reorganization modules, which demonstrated those fiscal outcomes. He was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Marlton. McGill, Kevin

KEVIN C. McGILL, died Suddenly on Dec. 24, 2003 in Tabernacle, NJ. He was 23 yrs. of age. Born in Haverhill, MA, he resided in Tabernacle for the past 6 years moving here from Crawfordsville, IN. A graduate of S. Montgomery H.S. in 1998, he was currently a Chef for the Shooting Stars Catering in Tabernacle, NJ. He is survived by his mother and step-father Joanne L. & Jim Scheidler of Indianapolis, IN, his father Kevin J. Sweeney of Haverhill, MA, his Maternal Grandmother Judy Barker of Port Orchard, WA, his Paternal Grandmother Shirley Sweeney of Haverhill, MA, his Maternal Grandfather Terry Holt of Darlington, IN and his Aunt & Uncle Lisa & Brian Brown of Tabernacle, NJ. McGill, Jr., James L.

James L. McGill, Jr., age 81 years, of Rio Grande, NJ, died on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Cape Regional Medical Center, Cape May Court House, NJ.

He was born in Vineland, NJ to the late James L. McGill, Sr. and Lillian E. Panz, and was a lifetime Cape May County resident. He went to the Roosevelt School of Aviation of Mineola, Long Island, and received his Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanic (AP) license. He was an Aircraft Repair Master Mechanic, a Navy World War II Veteran, and a consultant to the Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW), where he worked on many planes to bring them back to life at the museum. Hundreds of planes across the world and the years would never have lifted their wings without him. The Department of Transportation of the Federal Aviation Administration cited this on September 30, 1999, when it presented to James, The Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lillian (nee Hansen); his son, Kenneth (Leslie) of Mauricetown, NJ; his daughter, Patricia (George) Reed of Cape May Court House, NJ; his brother, Charles, and sister, Marian Smith, both of Vineland, NJ; and his three grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, and Amy.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ, where relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Interment in Cape May County Veterans cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ. McGinn, Sr., Edwin J.

MC GINN, EDWIN J. SR., "Bud" on September 27, 2006 of Mt. Laurel, formerly of Pennsauken. Age 81. Beloved husband of Theresa G. (nee Rossetti) for 60 years. Devoted father of Edwin J. Jr. and his wife Suzanne and James and his wife Gail. Loving grandfather of Michael, Matthew & Patrick. Dear brother of Alfred McGinn and Bertha "Bert" Freund. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. Prior to retirement in 1990, Ed was employed with the Langston Company in Camden, then Cherry Hill for over 45 years. He was a United States Marine Veteran of WWII, serving with the 2nd Marine Division. He participated and survived many Pacific battles including Tarawa. Ed also enjoyed golfing, playing cards and reading. McGinnis, Vicki L.

McGinnis, Vicki L., age 54, of Del Haven, NJ, died on Sunday, January 14, 2007, at the Eastern Shore Nursing Home, Cape May Court House, NJ. She was born in Whittier, CA, and lived in Somers Point, NJ for ten years prior to moving here in 1989. She was a graduate of Willingboro High School, NJ. She enjoyed working on the family tree on her computer, and visiting related websites.

She is survived by her husband, David J.; a son: Sean D. of Columbia, MD; her mother, Wanda Huesby of Bakersfield, CA; two sisters: Linda Offutt of Bakersfield, CA and Elaine of Arizona; and a half brother: Ed Lundin. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Lundin.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Seaside cemetery, Palermo, NJ. McGinnis, John H.

JOHN H. McGINNIS, age 88 yrs, of Leisuretowne, Southampton, New Jersey died at home on July 29, 2003. A native of Steubenville Ohio, Mr. McGinnis was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army and a retired printer. Early in his career he worked in a steel mill in Steubenville, Ohio. After relocating to Philadelphia, he was employed as a pressman by Curtis Publishing for many years with responsibility for printing the Saturday Evening Post. This was followed by a job as a printer for the United States Quartermasters depot located in South Phila. First and foremost, he was a loving and generous man with a keen sense of humor and was a part-time inventor and very adapt at magic. Prior to relocating to Philadelphia he also was a pilot of single engine aircraft. Mr. McGinnis enjoyed all types of televised sports programs, as well as fishing, bowling, and golf. He participated actively in both bowling and golf in the recent months prior to his death. While he had diverse interests throughout his life, his family was his passion. He will be horribly missed by all of his family and friends including his wife of 65 years, Kathryn (Nee Fauth) McGinnis, his Daughter Patricia and son-in-law James Feighery of Anderson, SC, and his grandchildren James and Susan of California, and Patti of Wisconsin. His parents Caroline Hock McGinnis and Frank McGinnis, three brothers and two sisters, all of Ohio, preceded him in death. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 am at the Holy Eucharist Church, 520 Medford Lakes Rd. Tabernacle, NJ. There will not be a viewing prior to the mass. Funeral directed by the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME Medford, NJ, (609-953-7600). The family will greet friends following the Mass, and then spend a quiet day together. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy Memorial donations may be made to Touch of Leisure Towne, C/O 202 N. McGinnis, Nicholas M.

McGinnis, Nicholas M., age 17, of Galloway Township, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2001. He was born in Atlantic City and graduated from St. Nicholas Grammar School in Egg Harbor City 'Class of 1998', where he played basketball. He was going to enter his senior year at St. Augustine Prep in Richland, where he was a member of the French Honors Club, Track Team and Chess Club. He served as manager for St. Augustine's Basketball Team and was going to be this year's Football Team manager. Nicholas is survived by his parents, Mark and Martha McGinnis of Galloway Township; his brother, Adam McGinnis of Galloway Township; his sister, Becky McGinnis of Galloway Township; his grandmother, Jannae McGinnis of Galloway Township. He is predeceased by his grandfather, Willwood McGinnis. Also surviving are his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2001 at 12:00 Noon at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City (609-965-0357), where visitation with family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Germania cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Physics Department, 611 Cedar Avenue, Richland, New Jersey 08350 or to the Humane Society of Atlantic County, 1801 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey 08401.

McGinniss, Dorothy I.

DOROTHY I. McGINNISS (Nee Schmidt), age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 18th, 2005 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Cherry Hill, NJ. Born in Phila., PA she is the daughter of the late Charles C. & Anna Schmidt and resided in Cherry Hill, NJ for the past 38 yrs, moving there from Maple Shade, NJ. She is the wife of the late Daniel J. McGinniss and the Beloved Mother of Diane Pfluger and her husband Charles of Tabernacle, NJ. She is also survived by her brother Charles C. Schmidt of Phila., PA, her two Grandsons Charles Pfluger IV of Medford, NJ and Christian D. Pfluger of Tabernacle, NJ and also 3 nephews and 2 nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., (Rt. 541), Medford, NJ, (609-953-7600). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the St. Peter Celestine Church located at 402 N. Kings Hwy. in Cherry Hill, NJ. Entombment will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, NJ. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family requests memorial donations to Lance Armstrong Foundation for Cancer Research P.O. Box 161150, Austin, TX 78716-1150.
