Holmes, Sr., Edward J.
HOLMES, EDWARD J. SR., on December 27, 2004, of Medford formerly of Cherry Hill. Age 87. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Virginia G. (nee Flippen), who passed away in June 2000 after 62 years of marriage. Devoted father of Edward J. (Betty) of Clarence, NY, Thomas J. (Marilyn) of Pittsburgh, PA, Charles C. (Patricia) of Dana Point, CA, Michael J. (Donna) of Edmond, OK, Christopher A. (Charmaine) of Southampton, NJ, Patricia of Wheeling, WV, Joan Ganser (John) of Marlton, NJ, Virginia Goodman of Bullhead City, AZ, Theresa Jaworski (John) of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Margaret Mary Morace (Mark) of Marlton, NJ. Loving grandfather of 29 and great grandfather of 19. Edward was born on August 17, 1917 in Philadelphia and grew up in the Merchantville-Pennsauken, NJ area. Known for his athletic ability, he was captain of the Merchantville High Basketball and Gymnastics teams and was the second baseman for the Amon Heights baseball club. During this time, he worked in his mother's grocery store gaining valuable food marketing experience that would later lead to his successful career. Mr. Holmes was married
in 1938 to Virginia Flippen and in 1940, supported the war effort in the NY Shipyard as a supervisor. In 1945 he joined TJ Lipton, retiring after 37 years as the Divisional Sales Manager in 1982. In 1945, Mr. Holmes joined the Knights of Columbus through the Marian Council 3784, at Christ the King Church in Haddonfield. He was President of Church Council for Queen of Heaven in the 1970's. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Sunday from 6-8 PM and Monday from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home Rt. 73 & Evesham Rd in Marlton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church 100 Willow Bend Rd in Marlton. Interment Calvary cemetery in Cherry Hill. Holscher, Arnold A.
Arnold A. Holscher, 88, of Cape May Court House, NJ, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 from the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he had been an area resident since 1955. Employed by K&E for 32 years after retirement he was a salesman for Seashore Foods. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Cape May Court House.
Survived by his wife of 41 years Dorothy, nee Scully, a son Arnold R., (Patty) of Springfield, VA, four daughters Judith Lowe, (Louis) Kathryn Tomlin, (Joseph) Barbara Hall, all of Cape May Court House, Dorothy Onorato, (Frank) of Erma, and a sister Marie Fuhro, (Bill) of Whiting, NJ. Loving grandfather to Debra Martin, (Bob) Dianne Lucia, (Fran) Denise Jeffries, (Dan) Kurt and Craig Holscher, Lori Schulte, (Paul) Kelly Tomlin, Thomas Hall, Chrystie and Frank Onorato, and five great-grandchildren.

Holt, John A.
John A. Holt, 45, of Villas, NJ, died on Friday, May 9, 2003, at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House, NJ. He was born in Montgomery County, PA to the late Arthur and Miriam (Eberle) Holt. He worked at Eastern Auto Parts and the Cape May County Airport. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was involved with the DARE program and enjoyed midget racing. He liked model planes and rebuilt and restored cars and boats.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church, Rte. 47 North, Goshen, NJ, where relatives and friends may call after 9:00 AM. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
Holt, Walter Byron
Walter Byron Holt, age 80 years, of Cape May Court House, died at his home on Friday, August 21, 2009. He was born to the late Byron Thomas Holt & Elizabeth Schedler in Philadelphia, PA and has been a Cape May County resident for the last 33 years coming from Philadelphia.
He was a member of the Dias Creek Methodist Church, a Coast Guard Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired Intenational Banker with Mellon Bank and Past Commodore at the Greater Wildwood Yacht Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years; Bernita "Nadine" (nee Enders) Holt, his five sons; Dennis, Kenneth, Lawrence, Daniel, & Andrew, his daughter Heather Huether and five grandchildren; Thomas, Joseph, Jonathan, Alexander & Elizabeth.
Memorial service 12 noon on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Dias Creek Methodist Church, Dias Creek Road, Cape May Court House. There is no calling time. Interment is private. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
Holton, Beatrice
Beatrice Holton, 96, of Whitesboro, died on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. Born in Bunnell, FL to the late John and Mamie Hemerway, she moved here in 1951 from Rosemont, PA. She was a member of Christ Gospel Church, where she was Church Mother, missionary, and pastor's aide president.
She is survived by her stepson, Luther Verdell Farmer of Florida; her stepdaughter, Caroline Barber of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mal Holton in March 1978.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2005 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Gospel Church, 2209 Route 9 South, Whitesboro, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Holzer, Johann
Johann Holzer age74 of Elberon, Long Branch died Sunday May 18, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He retired in 1988 after 35 years from the Senior Executive Service as Deputy Director for Architecture of the Joint Tactical Command Control and Communications Agency, Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, where he made major contributions in the US Army's communications programs and the development of military standards and systems architecture. He was a recipient of the Secretary of the Army Outstanding Achievement Award and the Defense Communication Agency Exceptional Civilian Service Award. He had 8 patents earned in communications field including one of the first in digital communications.
He was a parishioner of St Michael's Roman Catholic Church, West End, Long Branch. Mr. Holzer was past president of the St Vincent de Paul Society and taught adult bible studies classes at St Michael's Church.
Born in Moedling, Austria, he was educated in Vienna where he received his master degree in electronic engineering. He immigrated to the United States in 1953 and had lived in the shore area before settling in Long Branch.
Surviving are his wife Maria Kogelbauer Holzer; 2 sons and 2 daughters in law, Thomas T. and Marita Holzer, Toms River, Christian and Michele Holzer, Spring Lake Heights; 2 daughters and a son in law, Brigitte and David Perlstein, Washington Crossing, Pa., Ingrid Holzer, Woodbridge; 2 sisters, Margarete Cajar, Germany, Martha Satke, Austria; 5 grandchildren, Karl Holzer, Kristin Holzer, Melanie Perlstein, Michael Perlstein and Jesse Perlstein.
Relatives and friends may call at the Damiano Funeral Home, Third and Franklin Aves, Long Branch on Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 pm. Funeral Friday May 23, 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass at St Michael's R.C. Church. Interment will be in Woodbine cemetery, Oceanport. Homan, Rondelein L. "Ronda"
RONDELEIN L. "RONDA" HOMAN, 64, of LONG BRANCH, died Thursday at home after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was the manager of the Red Bank H & R Block Office and a former employee of Brunswick Monmouth Lanes, Long Branch. She was a member, choir member and former lay leader of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Long Branch. She was also a member of the 49'ers. She was an avid bowler and golfer, as was also the league secretary of the Bored Strykers for 25 years. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., she lived in Brooklyn before moving to Long Branch in 1956.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Homan, in 1985. Surviving are her children, Walter and Susan Homan of Beachwood, Laurie Homan and Cheryl Alexander of Long Branch, Kathy and Stephen Karinja of Rumson, and Lisa and Robert Cozza of Suwanee, Ga.; a brother, Joseph Paslov of Connecticut; a sister, Joan Buffandeau of California; and 10 grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Homan; Lucas, Marcus and Lexis Alexander; Kevin, Cory and Scott Karinja; and R.M. and Shane Cozza.
Relatives and friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Damiano Funeral Home, Third and Franklin avenues, Long Branch. A funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with a service to begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Woodbine cemetery, Oceanport. Homer, RN, Phyllis D.
HOMER, PHYLLIS DEAN, RN, 88, originally of Cherry Hill, NJ passed away on April 17 at her nursing home residence in Little Rock, AR. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and was the only child of Eva Mae Hagy and Theodore Clay Hagy. She was raised in Woodbury, NJ, and after graduating from Paulsboro High School, she attended Cooper Hospital School of Nursing and proudly graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1940. She married
the love of her life, Vernon Lilburn Homer in 1940 and they were married
until death parted them in 1982 when he lost a long battle with heart disease. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, her daughter Nancy Lee Homer, and granddaughter Michelle Nicole Smith. Phyllis had a fulfilling and active life as a nurse, then wife, mother and homemaker. Her husband Vernon was a career member of the US Navy, entering the service as a Seaman and ending his career as a Commander. This career led to living in many exciting places, including Hawaii and California. Often during WWII, Vernon left Phyllis to care for everything at home while he was in combat situations. Phyllis was a vivacious lady known to be a great host and cook, always insisting her guest were instantly invited to sit and eat. She traveled worldwide to many exciting places, and loved to go dancing as long as her health permitted. One of her greatest talents was as an artist, and many of her wonderful paintings now hang in the homes of her family members. In her latter years in nursing homes, she was always known as the most friendly and sweetest lady. She kept her fabulous smile and sense of humor to the end. She is survived by her son Vernon L. Homer and his wife Jane Calder of Skowhegan, ME, her daughter Linda D. Otto and her husband Paul Otto of Maumelle, AR, and her daughter Phyllis L. Smith and her husband Jim Smith of Cherry Hill, NJ. Survivors also include nine grandchildren: Paul Otto, Ted Homer, Valerie Harbridge and husband Brad, Jaime Randazzo and husband Steve and great grandson Steven Jr., Dennis Smith and fiancé Nadia Calzaretta, Michelle Smith, Nicole Smith, Jimmy Smith, Michael Smith and great granddaughter Aowyn Savannah Pietsch. Viewing will be Saturday April 21 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home, Rt. 73 & Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ. A Graveside Service will follow at Eglington cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ. The family wishes to give special thanks to the wonderful and caring nursing home staffs at St. Mary's Catholic Home in Cherry Hill, NJ and Parkway Health Center in Little Rock, AR.
Honer, Margaret (Peg) E.
Margaret E. (Peg) Honer, 89, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Monday, June 5, 2006, at Crest Haven Nursing Home after a long illness. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Peg and her late husband, John (Kip), moved to Avalon, NJ in 1946. They lived there until 1992 when they moved to Ocean View, NJ. Peg and her sisters, Helen Lyons and Babe Erkert Brown, had the L&H Seafood Restaurant and Take Out for several summers in Avalon. Peg and Kip were very active with Maris Stella Church during their years in Avalon. They both worked on the bingo nights. Kip was an Usher and Peg was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Marie Gallagher, Helen Lyons, Martha (Babe) Brown, and her brother, John Meany.
She is survived by her sons: John of Avalon, NJ, and Tom (Mary) of Hamburg, NJ; her daughter: Eileen (John) Post of Swainton, NJ; grandchildren: Charon (Drew) Roundtree, Kelly and Joan Honer, John (Tracy) Post, Pat (Kim) Post, and Trisha Honer; great grandchildren: Josh and Katie VanSant, and John, Ashlyn, Lynsey, and Hunter Post; brother-in-law: Joseph Brown; and several nieces and nephews; and her very special friends, Kathy Luckey, Peg Tease, Lottie Honer, Ruth Ann Coleman, and Delores Miller. Peg was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be greatly missed.
The Funeral Liturgy will be said on Friday, June 9, 2006, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Maris Stella Church, 25th Street and First Avenue, Avalon, NJ, where friends may visit after 10:00 AM. Hopewell, Calvin J.
Calvin J. Hopewell of Williamstown died Thursday at the Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Washington Twp. Age 79 years.
Mr. Hopewell was born in Ridge, MD and formerly of Phila., PA. He has been a resident of Williamstown the past 21 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Williamstown.
Beloved husband of Eloise (nee Pruitt). Dear brother of sister Marilyn Hopewell, Anna Hopewell Washington, and Gilbert Hopewell. Predeceased by his parents Benedict and Lillia Hopewell and sisters, Sister Mary Richard, Edna Hopewell Smith, Sadie Hopewell Chase and brother Richard Hopewell.
Funeral services will be held Friday 11AM at the Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown, where a viewing will be held one hour prior and Saturday 10AM with a viewing one hour prior at St. Peter Claver Church, Ridge, MD. Interment church cemetery.

Mary Grace Hopkin, age 80 years, of South Dennis, NJ passed away on Friday, August 10, 2007 at her son's home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in South Philadelphia, PA to the late Maria (nee Cordova) and Vincent Milano and has lived here for the last three years coming from So. Seaville & Fairview Village, PA. She was a member of St. Josephs' Church in Sea Isle City, NJ and the Dennisville Historical Society.
She is survived by her two sons; John J. and his wife Renee C. Hopkin of So. Dennis & Bruce and his wife Marie Hopkin of Eldora, NJ. Her two brothers; Sam Milano & John Milano and her sister, Sadie Petrozelli. Also survived by her three grandchildren; Steven, John & Jake.

Hopkins and his wife Penelope of Ruxton, Md and the late A. Stuart Hopkins. Loving grandmother of 8. She is also survived by nieces Carolyn Lambersky, Jane Miller, Joan Fink, and Gloria Campesi, and her nephews, David Campesi and William Thomas as well as many grand nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Prior to his illness, Mr. Hopkins was employed at Reliable Tire in Blackwood, NJ for 13 years.

Horan, Patricia Ann
Patricia Ann (nee Brady) Horan, 59, longtime resident of Stone Harbor, NJ, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. She was a revenue agent for the IRS in Atlantic City for 30 years. She was a member of St. Paul's RC Church in Stone Harbor.
She was the beloved sister of Margaret B. Jones of Charlotte, NC, Joseph F. Brady of N. Wales, PA, and John F. Brady of Philadelphia, PA; a devoted aunt to John Wesley and Sara Kelly Jones, Colleen and Christopher Brady, and John, Stephen and Paul Brady; and a loving grand aunt to Caroline Grace Jones. She is also survived by three aunts and many cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved brother, William J. Brady, Jr..

Horan, Jeanne Zapf
Jeanne Zapf Horan, a former resident of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at her home in Woodbury, NJ. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Reville D. Zapf, MD and Dela Ware Zapf. She lived her first twenty one years in Wenonah where she attended the elementary school, Woodbury High School, and Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, as well as Columbia Institute of Business in Philadelphia.
After living in New Mexico and Texas, Jeanne resided in Pennsylvania and Cape May County, NJ. She was employed for twenty eight years by the County of Cape May Health Department, Division of Environmental Health, as Chief Clerk; was a volunteer guide at the Cape May County Historical Museum; a member of the Cape May County Descendants of the Mayflower Society and Cape May County Patriots, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Cape May County Historical and Genealogical Society. Other interests included antiques, ceramics and travel. She was one of the founders and executive director of the Saltwater Fly-Rodders of America.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Eugene L. Horan, Jr., of Woodbury, NJ; and his children: Eugene L, III, Mrs. Patricia Gale, Mrs. Linda Johnston, Mrs. Kathleen Richards, Michael and John Horan; and his sixteen grandchildren; Jeanne's children: Michael D. MacLeod and his wife, Kim, of Belgrade Lakes, ME, Bruce A. MacLeod and his wife, Kathleen, of Cape May Court House, NJ, and Nancy J. MacLeod of Eagleville, PA; her grandchildren: Jennifer, Ian, Ryan, Trevor, and Brad; and one great grandchild: Tyler. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Rory MacLeod.

Horbinski, Christine Elaine
HORBINSKI, CHRISTINE ELAINE, Esquire, passed away to rest at her home of the past 22 years in Marlton, NJ, on April 21, 2009. Born June 23, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI, Chris graduated from Pulaski High School and earned her Bachelor's of Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee . After moving to Toms River, NJ with her beloved husband Paul, she earned her J.D. from Temple University and worked at several law firms, juggling motherhood with her career, before crossing over to work in the health insurance field, most recently as the assistant vice president of risk management at MD Advantage in Lawrenceville, NJ. Chris was a dedicated volunteer for several worthy causes, including Literacy Volunteers of Burlington County, Westfield Friends School and the Philadelphia Sinfonia Youth Orchestra, as well as a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Managers and a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America. Chris was the loving wife of Paul John Horbinski and the proud mother of Andrea Joy and Nicole Noel Horbinski, all of Marlton, as well as the beloved daughter of Melvin and Rita Pritchett of Greendale, Wisconsin. She was the dear older sister of Judith Pritchett of Muskego, Wisconsin; of Michael Pritchett of Frankford, Wisconsin,; and of Kathleen Martinez of Colgate, Wisconsin, as well as the adored "Auntie Christmas" of her eight nephews and nieces.
