HENWOOD. JOAN L. (nee Wiley) age 69 of Frederick, MD. Formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ, went home to eternal rest on Saturday September 1st after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Her passing is mourned, her life celebrated by husband Tom, loving partner of 49 years. Mother of Tom and his wife Meredith, Bill and his wife Josette, and Gail Hoover and her husband Bill. Devoted grandmother of Nicole, Danielle, Megan, Gabrielle, Kyle, Madeline, Natalie, Ryan, and Connor. Joan is also survived by her sisters Eva and Florence, and numerous relatives and close friends whose lives she touched and homes she decorated. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at St. Thomas More, 1439 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon. Herchenrider, Susanne
Susanne Herchenrider, of Avalon, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009. She was a Navy Wave in World War II. She is the loving wife of 60 years to Milton Herchenrider, Sr.; loving mom to Milton Jr., Stephen, and Thomas; loving grandmom to Stephen Jr., Christine, Kelsey, Thomas Jr., and Andrew. Herman, Victor J.
HERMAN, VICTOR J., age 89, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Sunday, December 31, 2006, at the Eastern Shore Nursing Home. He was born in Camden, NJ, and lived in Cape May County since 1948 until 1991 when he moved to Easton, PA and returned in 1999. He formerly lived at the Victoria Manor in Lower Twp, NJ. He was a retired maintenance worker for the NJ Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Angels Church, where he had ushered and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Wildwood, NJ and the DAV of Easton, PA. He was awarded a Safe Driving Course that he participated in while working for the State of NJ.
He is survived by three sons: Robert (Sharon) of Cape May Court House, NJ, Edward of Augusta, GA, and Tommy of Cleveland, OH; two daughters: Marie Quaid of TX, and Rose Abadi of Cleveland, OH; two stepdaughters: Julianne Jordan of Pepperell, MA, and Anita Fauser of Ruther Glen, VA; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie, in 1977, and his second wife, Goldye Erika in 1999, and a son: Charles.
Funeral Liturgy will be said on Friday, January 5, 2007, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Angels Church, E. Mechanic Street and Garden State Parkway, Cape May Court House where visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ. Hermes, Julia A.
Julia A. Hermes, 85, of Rio Grande, New Jersey and prior resident of Westerly, Rhode Island for 55 years died on June 27, 2001 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House, NJ after a brief illness.
Julia, the eldest child of Rafael and Mary (Wacyra) Gatta, was born in Woonsocket, RI. She was the widow of Louis P. Hermes. Both Louis and Julia were avid golfers and members at Winnepaug Country Club for many years.
Julia and Louis retired to Chapin House, Rio Grande, NJ in 1998 to enjoy the Victorian Cape May area.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Sherratt of South Attleboro, MA, and Patricia Farley of Richboro, PA; a son, Fred Coughlin of Woonsocket, RI; a sister in law, Betty Morrone of Watch Hill; a sister, Mary Mason of N. Scituate, RI; her grandchildren, Sarah, Pamela, Chip, Shannon, Fred, and Doreen; and 8 great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 8:00 AM on Saturday, October 20th at St. Pius Church on Elm Street, Westerly, RI.

PETER HERMESMANN, on August 12, 2004, of Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Willingboro and Marlton, NJ, following a long battle with cancer. Age 47. Beloved son of William and Elizabeth Hermesmann of Marlton. Brother of Lisa M. Corbett (Michael) of South Harrison Twp., NJ, and Patrick J. Hermesmann (Carol) of Columbus, NJ. Also survived by 8 nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. Peter was a graduate of J.F.K. High School, Willingboro (1975) and attended Rutgers University in both New Brunswick and Camden. He was an avid volleyball player and loved going to movies and following the motion picture industry. Peter was the former manager of the Ritz Theater in Philadelphia, and prior to that, he worked as an art director for several Advertising Agencies. Hero, Joseph A., 84, an area resident of Belleplain and Woodbine for nearly twenty five years died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 at the Court House Convalescent Center. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was a retired truck driver for a motor ignition company. He formerly lived in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. He was a member of St. Casimir's Church of Woodbine and a volunteer foster grandparent at the Woodbine Developmental Center since 1981. He is survived by a step daughter, Lauranette Brewer; and two sisters: Gertrude Meleski and Theresa Matzulous both of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Liturgy will be said on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at 12:00 PM at St. Casimir's Church, Woodbine. Interment will be in Head of the River cemetery.

Herr, John Allen
Herr, John Allen, 71, of Dias Creek, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Born in Camden to the late John L. and Margaret (Allen) Herr, he lived here since 1959 after living in Millville previously. He was a member of Dias Creek United Methodist Church, and the Mustang Club of America. He was chairman of the Middle Township Planning Board until 1990 and assistant chief of the Cape May County Communications Van. He was chief of facilities engineering and design for the U.S. Coast Guard base in Cape May.
Mr. Herr is survived by his wife, Suzanne A. Herr; his son, John Reed Herr of Jersey City; his daughter, Deborah Cornwell of Cambridge, MD; and his grandson, Benjamin Cornwell.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where friends may call after 12:00 p.m. Interment will be in Goshen Methodist cemetery. George Diller Herr, Jr., 71, of South Dennis, NJ, died on Friday, August 1, 2003, at the Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. He was born in Pawtucket, RI, the son of late George Diller Herr, Sr. and Mary Dickson, and was an area resident for the past twenty five years. He was the owner and president of the Express Messenger, a courier service. He was a graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in Engineering. He served on the Board of Directors of the Wetlands Institute. He was the former owner of Jones' Electric Supply Company in Millville.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jo (Matthews); five sons: George Diller "Chip", III and wife, Michelle, of Philadelphia, Christopher M. and wife, Barbara, of South Dennis, NJ, Jonathan D. and wife, Sheila, of Summit, NJ, David W. and wife, Erica, of Golden, CO, and Gregory T. and wife, Stacey, of Niceville, FL; one sister: Nancy Herr Black of No. Newport, NH; and seven grandchildren.

HERRON, Helen D. (nee Dugan) 'Dixie', on January 13, 2009, of St. Mary's Manor, Cherry Hill, formerly of Marlton, Cherry Hill and Willingboro. Age 88. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth W. Herron. Loving mother of Mary Ann H. Fraunhoffer of Mt. Laurel and dear grandmother of Kenneth J. Fraunhoffer. She is also survived by 4 sisters and 1 brother, Ruth Eells, Bernadine Williams, Eileen Thrasher, Elaine Reid and Donald Dugan. A graduate of the Moorestown High School Class of 1938, Mrs. Herron graduated from the Women's Homeopathic Hospital of Philadelphia in 1941. A 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Nursing Corps, she served during WWII in China, India and Burma. Hersman, Shawn S.
Shawn S. Hersman, age 25 of Long Branch passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Shawn graduated from Long Branch High School in 1998. He was an avid bowler, and was on the Long Branch Bowling Team. He also bowled on many leagues at Brunswick Monmouth Lanes in Long Branch. He was the All Shore Conference, "Bowler of the Year" in 1995-1996; and an All Shore high series bowler, bowling a 709. Born in Red Bank, he was a life long resident of Long Branch. He was predeceased by his brother Dale in 1985; his maternal grandfather, Patrick Williams in 1991 and his paternal grandmother, Relda Hersman. Surviving is his mother and father, Ronzel D. and Susan Williams Hersman of Long Branch; his maternal grandmother, Joan Williams of Toms River; aunts and uncles, Sharon and Robert Zerr of Rumson, Charlene and Jerry Niggemeyer of Guysville, OH, Bill and Debbie Hersman of Beverly, OH, Becky and Dan Carpenter of Belpre, OH and Judy Hersman of Milton, FL; his Godmother, Donna Natale of Oceanport; and many loving cousins. CARL P. HERTENSTEINER of Maple Shade, NJ, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28th, 2008 at the Samaritan Hospice Ctr. in Mt. Holly, NJ. He was 71 yrs. of age. Born in Phila., PA, he has resided in Maple Shade for the past 4 yrs. moving there from Georgia. He is the husband of the late Janice (Nee Gwynne) Hertensteiner and the Beloved Father of Carl Hertensteiner, Debra Hertensteiner, Janice Williams and Kathy Gronau. He is also survived by his sisters Gertrude Taylor, Sherri Friedenberg, Esther Barscher and Ann Long, his brothers Emil Hertensteiner and Robert Hertensteiner and his Grandchildren Matthew & Corey Williams and Paul Gronau. Russell Hess, 76, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. Born in Pennsylvania, he has lived here since 1965. He retired from the Borough of Stone Harbor in 1973, where he was a maintenance man, and from the Gerald Barrett Asphalt Company of Woodbine, NJ in 1993 after 19 years.
He is survived by his companion: Pauline Buckley, of Cape May Court House, NJ; daughters: Rose Fejes of Vernon, NJ, and Colleen Hess of Philadelphia, PA; sister: Betty Chew of Cape May Court House, NJ; and two grandchildren.

Pearl F. (nee Tozer) Hess, 80, of South Seaville, died Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the Eastern Shore Nursing Center.
Born in South Seaville, she was a lifelong resident of South Seaville.
She is survived by her children, Howard L. and Dorothy Hess of Clermont, Lillian Muller of Erma, Roy and Bonnie Hess of North Cape May, and Richard Hess of South Seaville; her sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Kern of Cape May Court House. She is the loving Mom-Mom of Bud and Sandra (Hess) Ward of Mesa, AZ, Alexander and Patricia (Hess) Iannone of Seaville, Phil and Deborah (Hess) Heun of Cape May Court House, Lisa Hess of North Cape May, Heath and Debbie Hess of Rio Grande, Darlene Lee Gugel of North Wildwood, and the late Edward Muller. Nellie Hess, 84, of Belleplain, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2003. She was born in Woodbine to the late Michael and Frances (Pawlek) Kubiak and was a lifetime resident of this area. She was a member of St. Casimir's Church in Woodbine. She worked as a seamstress at Feit's Clothing in Woodbine. She enjoyed gardening and homemaking.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Omeluk and her husband, Jerry of South Seaville; and her sister, Helen Noblett of Millville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1984.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where a viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Interment will be in Union cemetery, South Dennis. Virgina O. Hess, age 75, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Thursday, February 6, 2002, at her home. She was born in Camden, NJ and lived here for over fifty years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church having served on the Finance Committee. She was an avid card player and reader and enjoyed knitting. She was a former volunteer at the Cheri-Corner at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital having volunteered 500 hours. She was also active in the 4-H volunteering during the 4-H Fair. She was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for the First National Bank of Cape May Court House and Mossbrooks' Firestone Store and also worked as an assistant switchboard operator at the Cape May County Courthouse building.
She is survived by four children: Rev. William and wife, Darbi of Heislerville, NJ; Carl R. and wife, Janice of State College, Pa.; Stephen J. and wife, Peggy, of Greensboro, NC and Christine V. Champagne and husband, Ron of Dennisville. She is also survived by two brothers: William Chew of Seattle, WA and Robert Chew of Collingswood, NJ and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. May 3, 1986 .

Dorothy P. Heston, 72, of Cape May, died on Friday, December 20, 2002, at the Court House Convalescent Center, Cape May Court House, NJ, where she resided for the past 15 years, coming from Erma, NJ. She was proprietor of the Doll-lee Ceramics in Erma. She was past member of Daughters of America Wildwood Chapter where she was treasurer and past member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Company.
She is survived by her husband: Milton W. of Cape May; son: Mark E. of Erma; daughter: Blanche Liston of CA; sister: Marjorie Myers of Plumbstead, PA.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 23, 2002, at 2:00 PM, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior. Interment in Cape May County Veterans cemetery, Cape May Court House.
Heston, Milton W.
Milton W. Heston, 82, of Erma, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. Born in Bridgeton to the late Edward W. and Mary (Whitaker) Heston, he lived in Erma for 47 years after living in Wildwood. Mr. Heston was an Army Veteran of World War II in the European Theater. He was a member of the VFW and the NRA, a life member and former governor of the Loyal Order of Moose, and a life member of the Bayshore Sportsman Club of Villas. He worked as a master plumber.
Mr. Heston is survived by his son, Mark E. Heston of Erma; and his sisters, Sara Thomas of Wildwood Crest, Betty Venable of Kokomo, Indiana, and Doris Forbes of North Wildwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy P. Heston and his daughter, Blanche Liston.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery.
