ROBERT "ROB" C. BOWMAN, 47, of JACKSON, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, at home after an unprecedented and hard-fought battle with bone cancer. Rob was born in St. Paul, Minn., and moved with his family to New Jersey at age 5. Rob had many passions, including martial arts, in which he was a third-degree black belt and an overall standout. He was a superb skier with a love and fearless passion for the black diamonds and moguls. He loved trips to the Caribbean with his wife, son and friends, where he and his wife felt they belonged and would retire and grow old together. Rob's heart and soul WAS the Caribbean! He was an avid weightlifter and lived an exemplary healthy lifestyle. Mr. Bowman worked over two decades in industrial and commercial real estate, where he was well-respected and revered by those with whom he worked and came in contact. Most of all, in Mr. Bowman's own words, "My job is to make my wife as happy as possible. That is what I love to do." And he did. Just one example of the most unselfish, caring and kind nature everyone saw in Rob. He was never unkind.
Mr. Bowman was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Bowman, and leaves his wife of 20 years, Bonny Rae Greenberg Bowman; his beloved son, Ross, whom he loved dearly; his father, David and his wife Christina; his mother-in-law and friend, Rita Gold, with whom he shared an especially close relationship; a sister, Alison of Virginia; his in-laws in Arizona; and many friends, including his childhood friend, Mike Pierce. He was also survived by his dear friends, Dale, Kenny, Glory, Debbie, Jonathan and Lori, to name a few. He also leaves the family dog, Hobbes, who has given us the consistency and smiles needed during this very challenging year. He was grateful to all his cousins-in-law, who did so much to help during his illness, as well as friends and neighbors. Rob will be painfully missed by many, most of all the love of his life, best friend and partner, his wife, Bonny.
Friends and relatives may gather from 2: 30 p.m. Thursday until his funeral service at 3: 30 p.m. at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township.
