Dougherty, James Martin

James Martin Dougherty, 82, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Crest Haven Nursing Home - TLCC Unit. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Joseph and Margaret (Martin) Dougherty. He was a 60 year member of Local 1743 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He started with Rossatti and Barry in Philadelphia building bowling alleys throughout the Delaware Valley in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He eventually ended with Bill Ritter and Co., retiring at 62 years. He enjoyed building houses and training his sons in the field of carpentry.

Mr. Dougherty served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Corporal in the South Pacific - Philippines as a mechanic working on P47. He was in Manila during the trial of Yamashita. He was a member of the Thurston Elmer Wood Post 198 of Cape May Court House, a life member of VFW Post 10886 District 13, a life member of the Middle Township Ambulance Corp, and a life member and usher at Our Lady of the Angels Parish.

Mr. Dougherty is survived by his wife, Margaret Bleiler Dougherty; his four children: James Martin Dougherty, Jr. and wife Linda, William Joseph Dougherty and wife Laurie, Margaret Mary Dougherty, and Bernice Gerard Bevis and husband John W. Bevis, III; his seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Kyle, Timothy, Thea, Gavin, John Bevis, IV, and Andrew. He was one of nine children: John Dougherty of Cape May Court House, Margaret Dougherty of Cherry Hill, Charles Dougherty of Melbourne, FL, Elizabeth Williams of Cape May Court House, Catherine Eisele of Cape May Court House, Mary Peterson of Cape May Court House, Edward Dougherty of Maple Shade, and the recently deceased Joseph Dougherty.

Funeral Mass will be said on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 198, P.O. Box 577, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210 or in the form of Mass Cards.

DOUGHERTY, LaVerne (Nee McDonnell)

On 5/13/2002, of Vineland, NJ, formerly of Cheltenham, PA, age 82.

Mrs. Dougherty was born in Philadelphia, PA and was a resident of Vineland for the last 19 years. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting and loved her dog, 'Lad.'

Beloved wife of almost 61 years, James. Devoted mother of, James Dougherty III of Phoenix, AZ, LaVerne Ziegenfuss of Mullica Hill, NJ, Sharon Salotino of Hendersonville, NC, Robert Dougherty of Sacramento, CA, Marion Pallas of Horsham, PA, John Dougherty of Raleigh Durham, NC, William Dougherty of Columbia, SC, Dora Dougherty of Merchantville, NJ, Dave Dougherty of Glassboro, NJ, Donna Harwood of Wenonah, NJ and Donald Dougherty of Franklinville, NJ. Loving grandmother of 30 and great grandmother of 6.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Thursday from 9:30 to 11AM at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Glassboro Funeral Home, 124 State Street. Graveside service will follow at 11:30AM at Manahath cemetery in Glassboro.

Douglass, Joseph Harvey

DOUGLASS, JOSEPH HARVEY, age 59, of Avalon, NJ, died suddenly at his home on December 1, 2006. He was born in Lansdowne, PA on December 11, 1947, the son of Dorothy (nee Rhodes) Douglass and the late Harvey C. Douglass. Joe was a Middle Township High School graduate and a graduate of Campbell University in North Carolina. He previously worked in the family business, Douglass Fudge of Wildwood, NJ. He loved Avalon and enjoyed walking on the beach. He also was a history buff and an avid cat lover.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy "Jean"; his brother, Charles D. of Oregon; his aunts: Betty Keen of Avalon, NJ and Evelyn Rhodes of Cape May Court House, NJ; and cousins: Wesley Rhodes, Bonnie Hutton, Judy Thomas, Barbara Bradley Dugan, Sue and Skip Keen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2006, at 10 am at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, NJ, where friends may visit 9 to 10 am. Interment will be in the Baptist cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ. Memorials may be made to the Cape May County Animal Shelter Alliance, PO Box 172, Cape May, NJ 08204.

Douglass, Jr., Joseph

Joseph Douglass, Jr., age 96, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at his home in Cape May Court House, NJ in the same house in which he was born. Joseph was a realtor at the Douglass Real Estate Company retiring in 1968, and was a retired Prudential Insurance Agent. He was an 84 year member at the First United Methodist Church, a Navy veteran of World War II, a volunteer at Mid County Nutrition Center for the last 12 years, the National Association of Realtors, and the VFW of Cape May Court House. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed carving birds and ducks, and building boats. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Lee, in 1995.

He is survived by his two daughters: Sharon (Don) Rodger of York, PA, and Joanne (Joe) Errico of Cape May Court House, NJ; his five grandchildren: Lauri Dixon, Heidi Miller, Donna Garcia, Jamie Errico, Jr., and Jon Errico; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2007, at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Ave., Cape May Court House, NJ, where relatives and friends may call after 1:00 PM. Interment is in the Cape May County Veterans cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ. MARY "BETSY" DOW (Nee Norton) of Lumberton, NJ, passed away on Thursday, December 20th, 2007. She was 78 yrs. of age. Born in Portland, ME, she is the daughter of the late Alfred M. & Elizabeth M. Norton. A resident of Lumberton Leas since 2001, she is formerly of Medford and Medford Lakes, NJ. Mary attended Endicott College in Beverly, MA and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Medford, NJ for 42 yrs. where she also served as the church Secretary for 12 yrs. She was a volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul and for B-Thrifty II. She is the Beloved wife of Walter S. Dow of Lumberton, NJ and the Beloved Mother of Nancy Carman and her husband Jack of Medford, NJ and Scott Dow of Pearland, TX. She is also survived by her brother Alfred "Fritz" Norton of Nashua, NH, her 5 Grandchildren Beth Kidd, Jesse Pomper, Scotty Dow, Josh Dow and Sean Dow and her Great Granddaughter Catherine Kidd. Steven B. Doyle, Sr., 37, of Cape May Court House, NJ, died on Friday, January 31, 2003, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born in Cape May Court House, and was a lifetime resident here. He was a graduate of Middle Township High School. He was a plumbing mechanic for Keen Plumbing and Heating of Avalon, NJ. He was an avid striper fisherman and boater and enjoyed cooking.

He is survived by the "Love of his life" his wife of 18 years, Jenna Susan of Seaville; children: Steven B., Jr., of Cape May Court House, Lindsay J. and Scott L., both of Seaville; parents: Frank B., III of Cape May Court House and Margaret A. Dramis, James T.

James T. Dramis, 62, of Cape May Court House, died on Thursday, August 4, 2005, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late George and Beatrice (Briggs) Dramis. He was raised in Seaville, NJ. Jim was a retired Police Sgt. for the Middle Township Police Department. He served in the U.S. Marines from November 1962 to February 1967. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church; the Thurston Elmer Wood Post 198 of the American Legion; the V.F.W.; PBA #59 and the George L. Dramis Marine Detachment and was an avid race car driver and fan.

He is survived by five children, Robert Dramis of Florida, Nancy A. (Mike) Condran of Cape May Court House, Dana D. (Kurt) Simpson of Rockport, TX, Suzette L. (Joe) Calderin of Germany, and Jamiee L. (Adam) Pearce of Dennis Townshp; two brothers, Thomas of Petersburg, and George of Millville; one sister, Jeannie Dramis of Millville; and eleven grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, L/Cpl George L. Dramis, USMC in 1984.

Dramis, Beatrice M.

Beatrice M. Dramis, 79, of Millville, NJ, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House, NJ. She was born in Freeland, PA, and lived in South Seaville, NJ before moving to Millville.

She is survived by four children: James T. and Jean L., both of Dias Creek, NJ, Thomas W. of Tuckahoe, NJ, and George F. of Millville; one sister: Eleanor Gardner of Drums, PA; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1981; a grandson, George in 1984; and a great grandson, Jacob Fowler in 2001.

Drapczuk, Laura M

DRAPCZUK, Laura M. Born in Camden, NJ on July 28th, 1917 passed away on February 16, 2008 of Voorhees, NJ. Age 90. Loving sister of Regina Ferri and her husband the late Louis, Catherine Tortu and her husband Dino and the late Adam Drapczuk. Dear sister-in-law of Josephine Drapczuk. Laura will also be missed by many loving nieces and nephews. Affectionately known as Aunt Laura to many, her life was filled with RCA, travel, family and friends and she never visited without her shopping bags filled with treats and goodies. Famous for her advice on home remedies and colorful stories, she had a deep devotion to God and his goodness. She had a sweet and pleasant nature with a song in her heart that lifted our spirit and she will be missed by all. DRAPER, James D. Sr. on November 17, 2008, of Sewell NJ, formerly of Marlton. Age 78. Beloved husband of the late Pam. Loving father of James (Nina), Matthew (Pam), Michael (Patty), Nancy Vacca (Rick) and Mary Beth Kempf (Randy). Dear grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his special companion, Eileen Giusti. Mr. Draper was a veteran of the US ARMY, and served his country during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Congress Title Insurance Company. DREIFUSS, Milda (nee Priede)

On January 30, 2008. A native of Latvia, she resided in Upper Darby. Age 87. Beloved wife of Normunds Dreifuss. Loving mother of Cynthia Hartman (Bill) and Gunars Dreifuss (Bonnie). Devoted grandmother of Kristin Dreifuss and Tyler Hartman. Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service 11am Monday February 4, 2008 at the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John, 301 N. Newtown St. Rd., Newtown Square, PA. Drexler, Reverend George D.

Reverend George D. Drexler of Long Branch, whose 91st birthday would have been in eighteen days, died October 15, 2003 at St, Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was ordained by Archbishop Thomas J. Walsh in St. Patrick's Pro Cathedral, Newark in June 1939 and celebrated his first Mass at St. Michael's Church, Newark. He was a Pastor Emeritus of Holy Spirit Church in Union and founding Pastor of the Parish. He served at St. Venantius Parish in Orange, St. Mary's Parish in Plainfield and St. Joseph's in Jersey City for 21 years prior to his assignment in Union. He retired from Newark Archdiocese in 1978 and moved to Sea Girt where he became a weekend assistant at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in West End, Long Branch; an association which lasted for 25 years. He was Moderator of St. Michael's Rosary Altar Society, Long Branch and a member of Knights of Columbus, Union Council, 4504. He was born in Newark, NJ.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Margaret Ryan Drexler; two brothers, Frank and Paul; and infant siblings, Edward, Anna May and Mary.

He survived by his beloved cousin, Elizabeth A. Quinlan of Avon by the Sea; several nephews and nieces, Paul and Shirley of Bloomfield; Susan also of Bloomfield; Dennis and Ginny of West Caldwell; John and Donna of Clifton and Dennis of Virginia; and grandnieces and nephews; Angela, Dennis, Suzanne, Paul, Matthew, Eric and Jennifer.

Visitation will be held at St Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 800 Ocean Ave, West End, Long Branch on Friday, October 17, from 3 pm to 8 pm with a Vigil Mass offered at 5 pm. Funeral Saturday, October 18, A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:30 am at St. Michael's Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Michael's Church, 800 Ocean Ave., West End, NJ, 07740. Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch is in charge of the arrangements.

DRILL on July 18, 2002 Leonard G. of Woodbury age 88 beloved husband of Estelle M. (nee Staller) of Woodbury NJ and 3 sons Leonard Drill Jr & Richard Drill both of Stowe, VT & Edward Drill of Hamburg, NY. also a sister Catherine C. Drill & 2 grandsons Thomas & Steven Drill. He was a resident of Woodbury for the past 50 yrs., formerly of Shamokin PA and a WWII Army Veteran . Mr. Drill was a retired photo engraver for Lincoln Graphics, an artist and a painter. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Monday 8:30 - 9:30 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home Rt. 73 & Evesham Rd. Marlton.(856 983 1005) Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM St Joan of Arc Church Marlton. Interment will be Tuesday 12:00 NOON at the All Saints Cem in Elysburg, PA.
