DiLorenzo, Clara Rita

Clara Rita Vallese DiLorenzo, 78, of Woodbine, passed away peacefully in the arms of angels with family and loving nurses by her side at Cape Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 22, 2007.

Born to David and Clara (Raymond) Vallese on September 24, 1929, she was a life long resident of Woodbine. She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Frank DiLorenzo; mother in law, Florence Berry; her sisters, Sperina Salfi (Joseph), and Mary Giostra (Andrew); brother, Nick Vallese; her son, Frank DiLorenzo; her daughter in law, Ce DiLorenzo; her brother in law, Pat Lorenzo; best friends, Dot and William Albrecht; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who touched her life.

Rita's first love was her family. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a loving, caring, and nurturing woman, thinking of others before herself. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. To know her was to love her with her charming ways. Beautiful smiles to a beautiful soul. She would always say her family and friends were her angels and loved them with all her heart.

Rita never complained about her illness but her faith in God gave her the strength she needed to live and love for her family and friends. The lady with many lives, the nurses at the hospital would always tease her.

Rita loved to sing and dance. Her favorite song was Ave Maria when singing in the church choir at St. Casimir's in her early days, God Bless America at the VFW, and "I Just Called To Say I Love You" to her children and grandchildren just to brighten their day. She loved to cook and watch the cooking shows, go crabbing with her kids, play Bingo with mom and best friend Myrtle, and going to the casino to play the penny machines. So much she loved to do, she loved life, nothing could keep her down.

She dedicated many years to the Belleplain VFW, their home away from home, serving with her husband, Al, son, Frank, and many close friends.

We will miss you mom - never to be forgotten in the hearts of many. We have many memories to warm the heart.

She is survived by her love of her life of 59 years, Albert DiLorenzo; her daughter and son in law, Sophia and William Albrecht of Cape May Court House; son and daughter in law, Albert and Leann DiLorenzo of Woodbine; grandchildren, Frank DiLorenzo (Briann) of Woodbine, Eric Albrecht (Tabitha) of Cape May Court House, Michael Albrecht (Heather) of Cape May Court House, Justin DiLorenzo (Steffanee) of Woodbine, Nick DiLorenzo of Woodbine, Billy Albrecht (Dani) of Cape May Court House, and Michelle Albrecht Grothe' (Ben) of Canada; and great grandchildren, Christine, Olivia, Eric Jr. and Will Albrecht, Veronica, Zachary, Emily Dorothy Grothe'. She had a special place in her heart for many nieces and nephews who were as close to her as her own children, Clara Marie Seymour and her family, Ellen Salfi and her family, and Pat Heun and her family. They played an important part in her life, right by her side through her illness. She is also survived by sisters in law and brothers in law that she loved so dearly; and her faithful companion, "her dog Coby".

Albert DiLorenzo, 83, of Woodbine, passed away peacefully in the arms of the angels at Eastern Shore Nursing Home, his home away from home, to meet his Lord and the love of his life, Rita his wife, who preceded him on December 22, 2007, six short weeks ago, but a lifetime to him.

He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife of 60 years Rita; son Frank DiLorenzo and daughter in law Ce; mother in law Clara Vallese DiLorenzo; step father William Berry; brother Pat Lorenzo; sisters in law and brothers in law Mary and Andy Giostra, Sperina and Joe Salfi; best friends Dot and Bill Albrecht; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who touched his life.

Love of God and his country, he was proud to be an American. He served his country in the U.S. Army, First Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment in World War II, Normandy Beach. He was dedicated with a Purple Heart and many courageous medals.

He worked long, hard hours as a trackman for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He retired from the railroad but not from what made him happy. Simple things in life made him happy, he would always say. The love of his family was the most important gift he could have ever acquired in this life. He loved the holidays when all the family would gather around the table and there was always room for one more. Loved to have his picture taken with his great grandchildren, he would smile for days. He loved to watch his sports, baseball was his favorite; he loved the Phillies and Yankees.

He was so proud to be a veteran that he dedicated his life and time to the Belleplain VFW Post 6257 as he was commander for many years, to support his dreams to keep all veterans alive in the hearts of many who served and fought for their country with pride.

Albert was a man of few words, but always had a smile and little wave that would melt your heart. Always had to wear his hat.

He had a swinging door at Eastern Shore Nursing Home, in and out for the past two years. He was very fond of and loved the staff and residents. They became part of his family.

We will miss you Dad, never to be forgotten. No more illnesses or sadness, you can be happy again by Mom's side in Heaven.
